2. i picked up my xmas pressie to myself from the parcelforce depot this morning... black sheep bass overdrive and whooo - i'm impressed. no, i'm bloody impressed i really rate the battering ram i bought from them a year or two back, and couldn't resist after seeing the review on bassfuzz. i'll do a proper review and maybe some samples later...but for the moment i'm back off to play some more !
3. sorry - missed your question... i use their standard longscale 100-40's
4. plus the one on a TI chip.
5. welcome, and i'm glad you got your bass back - nice to hear a story like that turn out nice for a change. i live in tottenham - is tottenham considered dodgier that brixton these days ? girlfen was waiting at seven sisters tube for me to come and meet her after a night out and one of the tube workmen came up to her and asked her if she was ok, as this was a 'bad neighbourhood'...she was wearing a ball dress at the time... maybe he thought some posh bird had got off at the wrong stop
6. i'd guess the hardware 'upcharge' (horrid word) is for black hardware - i think silver is the usual finish.
7. given that pickups tend to be the weak link on cheaper instruments it probrably would be worth replacing it if you think that's the root of the problem, but finding one to fit might be tough if it's not a standard size. what are the dimensions of the pickup ?
8. is this the single pickup, musicman-style model ?
9. oh i wish all demo vids were that useful ! if i didn't have something pedal-sized and grindy coming from canada at the moment, i think that demo would have had me online buying one.
10. saturday morning buuuurmp.
11. well, i emailed rupert on wednesday, he got back to me almost straight away and i received the strap on friday morning. and it's a beautiful piece of work - sturdy, superbly finished and made exactly to my spec (i wanted a long strap to fit my epi t-bird with a relocated strap button) if you're thinking of getting a decent leather strap, then deffo have a word with rupert. i'll certainly be using his services again.
12.
I've started saving for the VI as of today. fingers crossed it'll be sensibly priced (compared to the old jap reissues that seem to be going for crazy money!)
are they now ? interesting...
13. bought here from shaun - here's the original thread with a pic it's got some slight corrosion on the pedal and the odd scratch here and there, but apart from that it's in fine working order. just had bedroom use since i bought it - it's a great unit, but i think i'm just addicted to lots of little metal boxes rather than one bigger one. clearance price for xmas £100. meet-up only in london, or come to mine in tottenham and i'll make you a brew !
14. those hollow-bodied mustangs look very cool
15. thanks for the tip - i've just mailed them about getting a long strap made for my thunderbird.
16. just to chime in that i've got one of the 8-string rhapsody basses and it's lovely - wish i had the cash for a 12ver ! good luck with the sale.
17.
None of the basses I've used it with feel really secure. I certainly wouldn't trust it to keep a bass of any kind standing upright in a gig situation.
this is my impression of them - i've put my bass on one before and just went 'no'.
18. have you tried status strings ? i'm a recent convert - i bought a set for my status bass (keep it in the family ) and liked them so much i'm changing all my basses over to them. very even and punchy across the board.
19.
You are mistaken my friend...her name is Vicky! (miming obvs, but she is a cracking bass player)! And yes it's a Mustang Dave
i stand corrected. spooky - they look remarkably similar in profile.
20. my tuppence worth ? i think internet forums go through life cycles - they reach a critical mass and then become a victim of having too many members. a shared community only feels like a community below a certain size, after that people miss the more personal touch of knowing (of) most members and drift away. i also think that 'off-topic' sub-forums do nothing to help a online community - they dilute the content and inevitably encourage cliquishness and pissing competitions. and on a final doomy note - i remember when i first found on-line bass forums and was blown away by how you could talk to people about bass...there wasn't anything like it before the internet. now there's a generation of people who take them for granted and the quality of forums has gone downhill. a new eternal september if you like. right...i'm off to smoke clove cigarettes and read camus.
21.
I think the Bass players name is Sally. Garry
if i'm not mistaken, that's my friend kat.

New Zoom B3

control knobs an inch or so above the footswitches ? to me that counts as a design flaw.
23.
Couldnt quite tell from the Pic's Ahpook but it sure looks like my old one. I did a trade with Howerd for a Stingray. I have a Frettless Sabre in black it's a Keeper, Didnt think i would need two similar Sticks and then regreted letting it go. That bass just does it all.........Nice
really ? you didn't write your name on the back of the scratchplate did you ?
24. i understand what he's saying, but why is there an assumption that bass is all about dancing and groove ? not all music is made to dance to... ...especially if i'm playing
25. where am i ? who am i ? who ordered the veal culet ?
