Blue [/quote] Well I'd say this - instead of knocking those practicing once a week and gigging once a month, how about doffing your cap to them - they're still rocking it when many have given up, they find time in their lives which might be busy with familiy and jobs and who-knows-what to strap on guitars, make some noise and have some fun. This forum is replete with them, I'd imagine. They're still at it and that should be celebrated, not derided for not being in some way 'the real deal'.

My mum told me that if you can't say anythhing nice then you shouldn't say anything at all. So I'm just going to look at that 'creation' and not say anything....for about 3 weeks.

Bartolini do a drop-in replacement for the 4-string, but I can't see a 5-string version on their website.

The only thing I that I found helped the neck dive on my Epiphone T-bird was passing the strap in front of the body rather than behind so the bass leaned back a little and the pressure of the strap counterbalanced the weight of the neck. I found moving the strap button to the position the OP indicates made the neck dive worse as it moved the end of the neck further away from my body. I don't believe there's a way to eliminate the neck dive on certain instruments (you can't argue with moment arms) - one just reduces it to an acceptable amount.
