1.
I actually never realised these had 24" scale till you mentioned it! I may well give one a go, although I don't really want a trem. I've been playing a Squire Mini around the house which I think is about 23.5" scale. I really like it, but it's a bit on the small side generally.
Do try out a Jag before you buy one...the trem and general feel can be a bit of an acquired taste. I bought myself one for my 40th birthday
 2. What a confusing website...anyone care to explain how it works ? (The thing, not the website )
 3. Why would you buy a short-scale strat when you could go for a Jaguar....the coolest guitar ever made ?
 4. Best bassist for metal ? No contest,
 5.
The input capacitors on some guitar pedals are fine for guitars, but will shave some low end off the lower notes on a bass. Chaining several such pedals can make this even worse. Many drive circuits (particularly TS types) also filter off the low-mids below about 700Hz to stop the driven signal becoming too muddy. Bass overdrives frequently have a blend control to mix in some unfiltered clean signal. Modulation pedals designed for bass often work only on the mids and highs to prevent over-wobbly bass sounds. I'm sure there are more differences...
Um.....what he said !
 6.
Something interesting happened this year, we were also able to land what you guys call function band gigs. We call them corporate gigs. These higher paying gigs are usually reserved for show bands doing Bruno Mars and Lady Ga Ga.
Hey, good for you - sounds like all that hard work is paying off.
 7. Archetypal bit of 80s there, especially the video... Look at him, sitting on the bed, fingering his shillelagh.
 8.
Agreed, we are all in different circumstances and are in this for different reasons. Interesting, I have never gigged more in my life since I started playing for money and this became a job, a fun job. And my chops have never been better. For the rest of the year were booked for double header weekends ,meaning were booked either Fri & Sat or Sat & Sun. This is what I always wanted out of a band experience and why I make music.
Just out of interest, do you play original material, covers....bit of both ?
 9.
For me those 2 elements go hand in hand. I love creating good music and presenting the music at gigs. Getting financially compensated for performing is equally important to me. Blue
I don't think I've have played as much as I do if the financial side had been a concern ! ...but as I've said before, people make music for many different reasons
 10. I moved to London 10 years ago and although I'm sure Denmark St was great in the past but I've never found it anything other than overpriced and the shops staffed by numbskulls. Wunjos is cool - I've popped in there on the back of what people have said here, but the rest of it ? Bloody awful.
 11.
So if you can't find people who share your tastes, you don't play?
I wish I could be that picky ! Maybe I overstated it by saying 'my only reason'....but I've certainly gone bandless for want to finding people on my wavelength.
 12.
If I had waited for bands that play music in line with my personal tastes I'm sure it would have no commercial value and wouldn't generate much money. Blue
Well, this is where we differ - my only reason for making music is to create good music and enjoy playing it, the financial side has always been a fairly minor consideration. In this case, finding people with a similar musical directions is important. But as I said in my earlier post in this thread, it's an outlook that not all on this forum share...no bother.... Each to their own, I say !
 13.
Finding people who are committed enough to turn up or learn songs is a task enough. Having them share musical taste would be a massive leap. It's a huge problem for me actually. All guitarists want to play blues rock and I'd...rather not.
It's odd, then I was younger (I'm talking well into my thirties) I found it easy to find people with similar tastes in music...now, I find it harder and harder.
 14.
Cool, and good luck. With the right tools and a little knowledge that should be pretty easy to fix, most likely.
Very much so - do let us know how it works out.
 15. I'd guess that if you took out the valves then you should get no sound at all.....I'd start by having a good look at output board.... It's difficult to say without knowing what circuit is being used - it all depends how confident you are at trying to fix it, given the high voltages used in a valve amp.
 16. Is that the output at the top-left of the picture ? A close-up of the main board and the one at top-left would help I think.
 17. There's two sorts of feedback, as a rule - 'nice' ringing, singing feedback (what I guess cybertect is describing) and 'nasty' electric squealling. I suspect that it's the squeally sort you're getting with the Hofner....it's most likely microphonic pickups - you could replace them or pot them in wax.
 18.
"No no No no no no No no no no No no there's no limits." My god, it's poetry.
19. "We like to party We like, we like to party We like to party We like, we like to party We like to party We like, we like to party We like to party"
 20.
I'm relatively new here, but one thing that seems to stand out and I don't get is what seems like many forum members concerns about the weight of a bass.
Well, that's great news, given that concerns about weight are usually driven by health issues - bad backs, bad ankles and so on. I sincerely hope that it never becomes an issue for you...but for those who do have such problems it has an import what you, thankfully, don't need to concern yourself with.
 21.
Number Six.....
Thought I'd "be seeing you"
 22.
I would, I was thinking of just a cab sim (which the RBI doesn't have), like this but for bass: http://www.sfxsound.com/microcab/
Right, I thought the RBI output included a speaker sim. I'd be inclined to go down the route that fretmeister suggested - treat your onstage sound as monitoring and rest easy your FOH is good. I've done this many times, but using my an EBS Microbass II as my 'amp and speakers' to send the FOH an 'amped' signal.
 23. Good going foolks How many bassists does it take to change a lightbulb ? None....the keys player will do it with their left hand.
 24. Wouldn't you be stacking amp sims if you put an amp sim after the RBI ?
 25. Lovely - GLWTS
