  1. Nice...I like this - I wonder if he bought the bass to match the tones of the rug or vice versa...
  2. This is essentially it...his songs played by the band. I've always felt that everybody has a contribution to make so let them make it. They know their instrument and how it fits the bigger picture. I don't tell the others how/what to play so let me find what I think works.
  3. Started a new originals project with a sax/keys/vocals (1 person), drummer, another keys player and a trumpet player. We're looking at a funky feel - none of them listen to or have played in a band which plays this genre. Annoyingly, the sax/keys/vocalist keeps telling what to play - not just "can you double that note.." the whole riff - and they have been CRAP!! We're practising later today - he sent me a bassline to play earlier - not unlike what I played last week when we jammed it out but in no way improved on. I can feel that he's a bit of a control freak - I'm getting negative vibes already. What do I do???
  4. I have a pair of Vox amPhones - bought them for convenience but the sound is not good. I wouldn't recommend them...
  5. Saw it...no idea how they came to this figure...maybe they don't want to sell it.
  6. Gear4music advertise loads of damaged items - have a look at the amount of acoustic guitars with damaged headstocks they have for sale. It's only a matter of time before one of the fork truck drivers damages something that you want.
  7. Did you ever forgive her??? Welcome
  8. I think that had I been in a similar situation customer service would have been a factor for me and knowing how good this is from Ashdown (and that they have a presence here on this forum) I think I would have swayed towards the good ole Made in the UK brand. If you're happy though...
  9. Wouldn't you have to buy an Afro wig if you bought this??? Very 1970s
  10. Dave bought this along to one of the SE Bashes - it's an absolutely stunning bass. If it's half the ACG Harlot bass that I sold Frank Blank it'll be a monster. Somebody's going to get a great buy...
  11. Don't watch the videos and it sounds like a piano
  12. Just bought a Yamaha Venova "casual" sax... https://www.sax.co.uk/yamaha-venova-yvs100-wind-instrument.ir Not a "real" sax but supposedly good fun for somebody who wants to dabble....
  13. Has anybody tried these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alembic-bass-strings-Compression-Wound-nickel-steel-alloy-40-100/162604446894?hash=item25dbfaf4ae:g:2HQAAOSwBiJZdziV Very well price considering the brand name..mind the P&P though
  14. Currently well priced at £450 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trace-Elliot-twin-valve-gp7-5881-valve-driven-bass-guitar-amplifier-hand-built/114079526063?hash=item1a8fab6caf:g:rGIAAOSwK9heE6ZP
  15. ...and a leftie for £69.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-P-Bass-Special-Left-Handed/184135803026?hash=item2adf596092:g:h30AAOSwzpxeJMjG
  16. I have one of these in the office in Black....definitely worth more than £92 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-Standard-Series-P-Bass-Special-in-Sunburst/254485286934?hash=item3b40815016:g:8Y0AAOSw1T1eIxls
  17. Not your fault...system normally automatically shows the location... Where are you??
  18. "Known make electric guitar" ...but it's listed as "unbranded". Also it has a bass neck, not a guitar. As @therealting suggests there isn't enough room to install a bridge and the intonation to be right. look at that neck plate...pure class. I reckon at £20 it's priced about right.
  19. https://www.thejoint.org.uk/ Is there any charge for this?? Times??
  20. I have my green Overwater Jazz for sale at the moment - not because it isn't a great bass, if anything the opposite - it plays fantastic with a huge usable tonal package. The reason for sale is that I, like many others here, have too many basses most of which don't get used. After selling it several years ago I suffered with Sellers Remorse, when the buyer, @claustra, put it back up for sale I snapped it up, but it has pretty much lived in it's case since. If you look at my for sale thread you'll see that he even reconsidered buying it back again. When I put it up for sale again, the original owner/ commissioner of the bass got in contact committing to buy it back once they'd sold their current bass. Several weeks later they got in contact to say, despite really wanting the bass back, they were now in the market for a 5/6 string bass, and pulled out. So nobody who has owned the Overwater has been disappointed by it - if I was using it regularly I'd definitely keep it - cos I'm not, I'm giving somebody else the opportunity to put it to good use. It's as good as any of the many other "Super Jazzes" out there, it'll do everything you ask of it - super punchy, super build quality and plays like a dream. I often question why they're not held it more esteem.
  21. My experience is that they're a mixed bunch... I've had some which took a lifetime to settle or find a note, others which are fine. Cost doesn't seem to figure in the quality - I think the one I have at work was £1 and works just fine - on acoustic geeetars anyway.
  22. Sometimes less is more....not on this occasion though
