Hopefully there's somebody here that's local to you who might give you some pointers.
Personally I'm a big fan of Scott's Bass lessons ( http://scottsbasslessons.com/) and Talkingbass ( https://www.talkingbass.net/) - both have free lessons pitched at all levels. They should keep you going for, ooh the next 20 years or so...
As a beginner, probably the best piece of advice I can give you is STAY AWAY FROM THE MARKETPLACE!!! When I joined I had three basses which seemed to cover the ground. Now, like many members here, I have significantly more. The marketplace will almost certainly give you uncontrollable GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).
