I wish you hadn't said that...I have an Overwater pre-amp in my parts box which I bought for a project but didn't use...I'm now thing of a project where I can use it!

Here's one that I'd forgotten to mention... Under-rated: Everything but the girl Tracey Thorn has one of the most recognisable voices in the musical industry. George Michael was a huge fan. She has guested with loads of bands including being the voice on Massive Attacks two biggest hits "Protection" and "Better things". Her version of "Over the rainbow" is held in esteem by many. 11 studio albums over 20 some years each with it's own personality yet that distinctive EBTG flavour. IMO the most Underestimated band ever.

I would agree that his pre abstinence era contributions were very influential, however following Scary Monsters he ceased to be a musical inspiration. Sad that his best work might be attributed to his substance misuse. See my earlier post...

Ah, but when he was good, he was GREAT!! I remember ads for bassists in Music Maker from the late 80s, nearly everybody cited him as a influence.

@xilddx (where are you Nigel??) played in the trimmed down version of the band. He got me a signed copy of one of their albums... As you say, much under-rated.

Over-rated: Controversial I know but.....David Bowie IMO everything he did after he stopped taking drugs (Scary Monsters) was well below par. Lets Dance - poor, Tin Machine - absolute disaster. He should have been shot for what he and Jagger did to "Dancin' in the street". In fact, they both should have... Under-rated: Corduroy - the founding band on the "Acid Jazz" label. Some wicked basslines and amazing grooves. Totally unacknowledged by the majority of music listeners.

Check my post "Big up the good guys"... RM/PF have managed to "misplace" a mini bass - it has left my local depot but wasn't scanned before leaving so, basically, it could be anywhere. I'm advised it is "in transit" - but has been since 17th April... Trying times for all of us...

I have a GK Backline 110 which I've lent to people for home practice. Both times it came back shortly after because they'd gone and bought their own. Nice little compact combo.

The (very good VFM) Spectorcore is in your Under £500 price bracket but I take your point..
