  1. Will the bathroom be fretted or fretless?
  2. Are you the famed luthier Mark Phillips?
  3. I believe that most full scale 2+2 headstock basses will take medium scale strings. I can get away with medium scale Status tapewounds on my 2+2s even though Rob says that I won't.
  4. I'm a great believer in acknowledging great service... Well done Mike...BTW I didn't realise you were a member here..
  5. Haven't MM copyrighted/patented the 3+1 machine head styling??? Be careful
  6. I reckon you've been watching too many episodes of "World's strongest man" over Xmas...😉😉
  7. I'm confused.... These seem to be well fancied amongst the BC Massive, my only experience with them though is the "noise war" one was involved in at LBGS 2018(?). It performed admirably. The price here (£350) seems more than reasonable. In a previous life (I worked for Strathclyde Social Services) I had a girlfriend who lived in Paisley. There was a very good Kebab shop near George St...probably gone now but possibly worth a visit if you're thinking of buying this. BTW GLWTS
  8. Very similar to my EVO 11 which has a input level meter instead of the 5 LEDs. Impressed with what is considered entry level gear. Don't forget the Ashdown customer service which may be the best in the country. GLWTS
  9. Showing off again Andy??? You make it all look so easy. Happy New Year sir...
  10. I empathise with the OP. We had similar problems with the Herts Bash. Loads of work to make it happen with relatively few attendees. There are members here who live 15mins away that never attended - makes you wonder why you'd bother, hence I don't any more.
  11. Only the second one I've ever seen - and I trawl eBay on a daily basis. I think people buy them to protect their instrument bodies and find that they cause damage being put on and taken off. That or they can't be arsed after a while.
  12. I disagree. I kept my Korean NS2000 and sold my Euro LX because there was so little difference between them. Happy to put this to the test if somebody has a Euro we could use.
  13. There are some really nice features on these....chambered body to get the weight down, Lumo inlays, individual mono rails bridges and a locking jack socket. Many of the features you only expect to see on high end custom basses (my Overwater and ACG had the locking jack). I couldn't see any indication of prices but I'd be interested to give one a try.
  14. Nice idea.. Slanted body back The top half of the back of the body is slanted which allows the bass to rest slight closer to the player’s body for better control and a more ergonomic feel.
  15. I've been looking at the Kala/ Mahalo/ KAM solid body U Bass/Ukes. Prices range from around £250 for the KAM to over a grand for the top of the range Kala models. I'm not interested in the (TBH incredibly ugly) Ashborys - owned one, not impressed. There are some videos on YouTube, but TBH the quality of the players varies significantly which makes me question the quality of the instrument. I've just been watching this video - the player makes it sound superb, especially from 2:22: Some of the other videos available make the instrument sound less than impressive. I know that @phsycoandy sold a Mahalo recently and I've PM'ed him for his input but does anybody else have any experience of them? I tried one a couple of years ago at the LBGS but TBH it was for 3 mins and it felt a bit "gadgetty" - I know that better strings have become available since.

  19. Billy Apple once told me that you can't go wrong with any of the neck through Spectors - and he was right. The Korean NS2000 NT I have is still with me after I rehomed the Euro LX I had because I had trouble telling the difference. They do come up occasionally here and on ebay, well within your budget. If you're in the Herts area in the next few days, let me know...happy for you to come and see for yourself.

  21. I count myself lucky in that, pretty much, every trade I've done here has gone without issue. I think that the majority of the "hard core" members are upright and trust worthy. Hope that you're able to resolve the problems with the bass.
