1. Ibanez ATK's have the same arrangement I think?
2. Gallien-Kreuger RB range will be perfect. 700 and 1001 models frequently come up second hand for less than £500, you'd do well to get one of those. Plenty of poke, gritty and work really well with active instruments.
3. I think it looks quite cool! Loads of genuine wear, a bit of character and history, and you know it'll work properly. Doesn't look anywhere near as bad as those horrible fake relics.
4.
Exercise some quality control??? You're just trying to take all the fun out it now. There's nothing better than a really bad tribute act.
The one at the top looks nothing like Meatloaf at all!
5.
Even if I bought nothing else that's still only coming to £34 delivered. I particularly like the velcro neck holdy thing but I'm not keen on the glove puppet style pockets
I've had and used mine for 4 years with no issues at all. Zips still very functional, no tears or rips to the material. Nothing coming loose inside, neck grip still grips and is firmly attached. Honestly, the best bass accessory I own and I would encourage everyone to buy one.
6. I would look at a Yamaha BB1024. Great basses!
7. I think it's completely ok that the Landlord collected to contribute towards your fee. It's his venue, he can do what he likes. Also, I'm supposing that your fee was agreed in advance? If he paid that fee to you then you're entitled to absolutely nothing on top.
8. Drop KiOgon a PM. He'll make a harness for you that'll work perfectly!
9. Only have one bass so use that! Yamaha BB424. Covers all bases well enough and aesthetically suits many styles. I've never had two basses that were at a similar level so never struggled to pick one for a gig! Always been one bass for gigging with and a beater for emergencies.
10.
Forgot to add - I always sign "Not examined" for things.
This means absolutely nothing to anyone. Once it's signed for, it's signed for, regardless of the condition you find it in the next day. I strongly suggest checking every parcel before signing for stuff. If you don't want the item due to damage, then return it with the courier.
11. Oh, at last! A SourceAudio pedal that doesn't look f***ing horrible. Looking at it very seriously. I couldn't bear to buy the OFD purely because it looked awful.
12. Personally I'd cut everything under 100hz to start with. With that 30hz equaliser flat you would have had a lot of boom and as such you had to really boost your hi mids to cut through it. Try it next time; cut everything under 100hz, get a tone for the room and then gradually introduce a little bit of 60hz to taste. It's a credit to TE though. I wish most amps were this flexible! I love my Rumble, but I wish there was an extra EQ knob or two.
13. The RBH series cabs match. They're discontinued and they've held their value very well. Quite expensive! The best cabs I've ever used though, great tone.
14. I think you'd run out of steam if you plan on playing good and loud. The PF350 isn't well known for being loud and I had one for a while and felt that it lacked cut. Look out for a Gallien Krueger 400RB or Hartke 3500; more bang for your buck and can be had cheap. Great tone for heavier music too. Trace Elliot GP heads are pretty good value at the moment and even their 150w heads are capable of pretty decent volume levels. Cab wise, keep your eyes peeled for a Peavey, Ashdown or Trace Elliot 4x10. They're unpopular due to size and weight so can be had really cheap. Trace Elliot 1153 cabs are pretty good too and very cheap at the moment.
15. Samson Q4. About £20-£25 from most retailers. Tough, dependable, sound decent and mine have never distorted. Definitely good enough for live use at small venues. For studio use you'd need to spend more money and get something with character.
16. I had an RBXJM1 for a while and really miss it sometimes! Make no mistake, very good quality instruments these are.
17. My BB424 has a very slight him when J pup is solo'd (as to be expected). Mind you, it is slight and I don't notice it unless I really listen for it. Is it an unbearable noise when you have yours solo'd?
18. Oh my god, you're quite right. That'll teach me for reading angry posts on Facebook without doing any background reading.
19. The new National Living Wage is a complete con. In the UK, if you worked for 16hrs or less a week (at the old minimum wage £6.70ph) you are entitled to certain tax breaks due to your low income. Your annual income will be less than the national taxable wage. Now that the wage is higher (£7.20ph), this puts you over the non-taxable limit which means you will now need to pay tax on your income. Which makes your net income less than it was before the new Living Wage was introduced! It's a con and a shambles. You could argue that this only negatively affects those on the lowest income. But aren't they the ones that deserve our help the most? I know many people that work exactly 16hrs a week because they have care responsibilies (kids, sick, elderly etc) and now they're being pinched even harder. Anyway, back on topic; I've discussed with the band the possibility of trying to work out some original numbers. Promising!
20. I think it's an April Fools joke from Bass Gear. I don't think Fodera would even bother?
21. My favourite bass performance is on Aretha Franklin's Border Song. I think it's Chuck Rainey?
22. Jack - "MUSTANG SAL..." Other dude - "For gods sake, not now!"
23. Love the lack of string retainer on the Tchib headstock. Looks super clean and very sexy. Love it!
