The previous owner had put a wooden pick guard on it when he sent it to me, I didn't like it so took it off. He has since found and sent me the original black one which I have now put on. I'm blown away by how good these are for not much money!

I'm starting to get a thing for these old Ibanez basses, after picking up a fretless Musician recently. and having had a Blazer Roadster back in the day. These ones seem to be either loved or hated I got it for a bit of homeplay or maybe I'll take it as a stand-by, or to the seedier places we play. This a 1995 model with the FC starting serial, partly made in Japan and assembled in Korea from what I can find out, maybe some experts out there? It's not at all heavy which is contrary to a lot of the reviews I saw about these. Nice surprise as I bought it un-seen. For some reason these seem to be associated with starter basses, there is still some decent quality in construction and playability with these. Me likey I wasn't looking to replace a Ray as I have had a few of those in the past and didn't really get on. And all I need now is to get a black-pickguard frome somewhere? Very nice. Classic! I also recently swapped out a 69/70 P I had, but kept my 72/73 as it sounded better and also seemed to have more variation in tone as you mention.

[/quote] I do it a lot, I find it helps a lot in hearing back what's working and what isn't, especially when working on new material. Also helps me erradicate some mistakes and sloppyness.. The others find it useful as well.

Yes he was a real on-off in all departments. I often ask my guitarist to do a bit of Chuck in the rock and roll type stuff we do and he never does. Maybe cop a bit of ZZ Top that's about it.

It's all a matter of personal taste I guess. Iron Maiden, there I said it! a couple of decent tracks I can listen to but the zzz's set in pretty quick for me

That's the thing hearing them in the mix. If you're not after lightweight and like what you have now then maybe not worth the risk. I went from 2-112 Aguilar GS cabs to the Rumble, they had far too much lowend for me and not enough mid punch. (in the mix)
