1.
Welcome, learn, teach and enjoy.
Exactly! Pleased to see you
2. welcome once again to the ill behaviour
3. yowsa! Welcome aboard. My sister lives in Bristol, are you gigging much? I'd love to be playing that sort of thing
4. Two things, for me: flexibility, and the lovely noise - especially from a P-style pup. Flexibility because it can do anything a fretted can (though it's quite a bit harder, for, say, tapping), plus slides, trapping harmonics, etc.. (Not that I personally can do these things, you understand ) Practicing on fretless improves my fretted intonation, BTW. I recommend the Yamaha RBX200F as a starter, if your defret goes badly. (Also the unlined board can look very very cool, if that floats your boat. Example: http://basschat.co.u...illette%20paris . And I don't even like blue basses... )
5. I looked at it and saw this: "found this on the web, I can not say if it is for this guitar or not, but it looks very close." So, seller has a near-new bass, has a guitar shop, but doesn't know if this is the right description? Either he can't read, or he can't write. No sale.
6. What's the neck profile like? P-ish. J-ish, something else? And, any trade interest? I have a nice fretless Squier J I'm not getting on with
7.
Yes. I can believe that. All his best stuff was done in the '70s. Don't know how the 'Antmusic' and subsequent 'highwayman' thing came about, I suspect it was something they agreed to do to increase their appeal.
I seem to remember that nice Mr McLaren had something to do with all that?
8. Set of 4, good condition, bushes, no screws. Bought here for a project which is not going to happen. £12 posted.
9. I have a used Hohner Professional 5-string which is very nice (thanks Geoff . If you can find one, they seem to go for about £200.
10. Aria Sinsonido sounds pretty good. Fretless is better for the tone.
11. No idea about Cort Curbows. What I do know is that I have a Yamaha RBX200F, P-pup small-body lined fretless, which I picked up here for £100 (IIRC), which is a great starter fretless IMO. I recommend them. (Would I sell it? Yes I would.
12. How deep is your love? As low as my rotten technique will allow, basically.
13.
I'm doing this all the time now! Ended up with a sound interface and an mxr m288, and a new bass....I don't have any money!
Me too. I have a daft number of basses...
14. I've got one. It's fine - comfortable, good to play, nice neck, maybe a little characterless in the sound somehow? - but its electrics are not ideal - the damn thing eats batteries. Net result, I never use it.
15. Love Potion Number Nine
16.
Also I cant play upright at all
Yet Good chance to learn! Good luck!
17. Thanks to all for contributions so far A swift online search suggests that cyanoacrylate (Superglue) is the way to go. But I'd guess that epoxy will be at least as good; the tricky bit will be clamping it so it's correctly placed and stable. I'd forgotten this: there are also cracks in the neck pocket. It's possible that the whole thing will have to be written off.
18. If I lived in west Dorset, I might have a go at that
19. The lower horn has broken off cleanly.
20. hi folks Has anyone attempted to repair a luthite body (e.g. Ibanez Ergodyne or Cort Curbow)? Any experiences, hints, tips etc. gratefully received thanks Mike
21. I also wonder whether the new Classifieds will make the site less intuitive, because it's hard to see where (e.g.) the eBay subforum and the Feedback would go.
22.
... I think the old classifieds section with a subscription fee and bump button is a better solution. 1 - carried on using the regular marketplace forums - Yes 2 - charged a yearly subscription fee to be able to post adverts there (~£20) to help pay for developments - Yes or a "by listing" fee. 3 - installed a new 'bump' button which only works once every 36hrs on your thread - YES 4 - develop the marketplace to allow thumbnails next to threads for everyone - No, I dont think it is needed, I would still like the classifieds to look like a forum setup. Less cluttered, more adverts on one screen. 5 - develop a better form for selling items with fields for things like location, price, etc to make adverts clearer - This is something I have been pushing for years, so yes.
I agree with this.
23.
To my mind, 'Definitely maybe' at the time was a breath of fresh, attitude-driven air - the nearest thing to 'Never Mind The Bollocks' I had heard in years. Furthermore there were some very melodic, memorable tracks that still stand the test of time (Live Forever, Slide Away etc). While most fans revere it, I already thought the rot set in with 'Morning Glory' (can't stand their 'epic' Champagne Supernova for example and I hate Noel's nasal voice on 'Don't look back in anger', Liam's voice is waaaaayy better). ...
Exactly.
