1.
You've never owned a Precision is you have to ask how the saddle screw came out.
is that bad?
 2.
Unfortunately I found discreet's avatar too distracting, so it's been added to my Ad-block list...
This.
 3. Aaaand, result Bass arrived today, well packaged and looking good. A look at the electrics and trussrod will have to wait till tonight, but it's here and looking quite pretty Thanks again to Johngh for his efforts, and to everyone here who offered. It's very nice to be part of a community
 4. My son, age 6: "Dad, what is mould?" Me, half annoyed: "Mould is what happens to boys who don't eat their dinner..." Son: "No, I mean the other kind of mould..." Got me bang to rights
 5. I've had a PM from him and have replied. I'll make sure to update this thread with any further info. Thanks again to all who've posted.
 6. Again, thanks to all for offers of help. I don't actually know where mojobass is based. He didn't tell me, and it wasn't in his sig or his posting details.
 7. Many thanks to Johngh for his efforts and also to the members who have offered their help, I am very grateful. The seller in this case uses the BC name mojobass. If anyone here knows him, please get in touch. thanks Mike
 8. Gordon Bennett! What a beast...
 9. for me the real reason for fives is that you've got two octaves under your hand, with only a small shift. For some of the stuff I played in my previous band, I tuned the five up three semitones, D G C F Bb. Gave me a blues 7th under the low E. I'm still not sure that was a good idea, but it gave a lot of heft to E or Em tunes.
 10. Dreams are strange. One of my colleagues had one which involved me coming out to her. Hmm.
 11.
C'mon guys, this is just getting silly. Does the OP have his stuff yet?
Nope, but I'm enjoying the OT discussion
 12.
I completely agree
And so do I, especially at the moment
 13. Suggest you edit your initial post so that the price drop is visible at the start of the thread
 14.
..and not panic into judgement and harsh sanctions. Thanks to our Mods.
+1. I'm grateful for their help and reassured by their efforts.
 15. Today was a bit tricky. I went to band practice this evening, and confirmed my impression that I can't sing worth a damn, and can't play fretless either. (Bits of it were good, which is something Also I am in dispute with someone here who has my money and hasn't sent me the bass I bought off him . Moderators are involved, and I'm very grateful to them. Thread here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/198147-how-long-should-i-wait-before-i-start-asking-for-moderator-help/
 16.
I almost never look at the Gigs section. I will start.
Having had a look, it would help if the thread titles were a little more informative... "XYZ band on tour" doesn't tell me much, especially if I have never heard of XYZ band. Neither does "XYZ band is playing at the Copperbottom Club on 43rd December" help, if I don't know which county the Copperbottom Club is in...
 17.
I did consider starting an offshoot of the fish puns theme to cover marine mammals, but thankfully realised in time that it wouldn't serve any useful porpoise.
I'm glad. Otherwise I'd have to withdraw my seal of approval from this thread. Anything else would be otterly pointless.
 18. I will be leaving feedback, believe me.
 19.
what have the mods said? Have you chatted to any locals to him on here too? You say the fella's been one here for at least 3 years, you've traded before... look at his feedback thread and start contacting other folk he's traded with, one of them may have phone number/address for him. Email him via his paypal address! That would be more useful than starting this thread! you don't know if he gets it true.. but if you PMed me on Basschat the only way I would know is if I came onto basschat. You email me and my phone starts blinking at me....
Johngh is investigating. Thanks for the point about people's methods of notification. FWIW, the "seller" has been on BC at least three times in the last week, but has not looked at the PM thread since the 19th.
 20. I almost never look at the Gigs section. I will start.
 21.
Aaargh, the fish jokes again!!!
The fish jokes back?
 22.
Which plaice would you rather be?
Dover, but I'm quite hard of herring.
 23.
I tend to use bank transfer, is there any protection in doing it though? Also never been swindled on here, infact I've never had a transaction take much thinking about at all
So do I, and I don't think there is. I don't know (yet) what's happened, but this is the first time I've had a transaction here go bad in this sort of way.
