If you have a distortion sound call the time then keeping the Scrambler could be an option to boost/add gain during guitar solos.

A good new set up you’re getting there!

I always do the pencil in the nut thing when stringing my instruments nowadays, figured it must make things better, and given the scenario you mention above am glad I do this.

Thankfully yes, ACS PRO17s, bring the levels down nicely otherwise I’d be stone deaf.

They have them in the rehearsal studio we use. Which is fortunate given that our caffeine fuelled chimp is the loudest drummer I’ve ever played with. I have to have the 1000 watt hired amp connected to the 810 on about 7 or 8 just to keep up.

Sex Pistols to reunite...with one glaring omission

Def, Glen Matlock had some very nice inventive bass lines to some of those songs - and a great sound too. -
Sex Pistols to reunite...with one glaring omission

Yeah JR has recently seemed a bit less tolerant of the others (probably due to the Pistol series), strange though as for me SP were successful due to what all 4 of them brought and I would have thought he would have recognised that. I`m sure Frank will be better than Billy Idol, I watched Generation Sex at Glastonbury and thought they were awful, though the guy who produced our album was at one of their indoor gigs and said it was very good. -
Well I`ve got the 500, aside from a couple of gigs in pubs have always gone through FOH. The band weren`t keen on too much bass in the monitors so the rig always carried the on-stage sound and it never struggled, even on some pretty big stages (prob 1000 capacity venues). Having used it a couple of times without FOH it more than delivered but I think I`d go 800 if possible, doesn`t hurt to have more power than is needed.

Sex Pistols to reunite...with one glaring omission

Yeah I saw this and as much as I’m a fan of the band it’s not for me. No disrespect to Frank, he’s my best mates nephew (tho I’ve never met him) but for me without JR it’s not the Pistols. -
Those CS60 pickups, be they Jazz or Precision are great, really transform a bass.

I have 2 of these Squiers and they are excellent basses, def get my recommendations.
-
I’ll never tire of recommending the Ashdown RM amps. Lightweight, powerful, sound great and excellent customer service.
-
Agree on both these points. Similarly having had all ranges of Fenders I’ve found that the US ones are just better for me. Likewise I’ve had one Precision for about 9 years now and although I’ve a few others from the same range I just “know” that one better, and it shows (to me anyway) when I play it.

Foldable 810

Reminds me of the first time I went to Rebellion, a whole load of punks & skins line-dancing to The Sweet. Rather bizarre but they were enjoying themselves immensely.
-
I think it might be something to do with the publishing rights, am sure someone will be along soon who knows more about this than me though.

Comes from Qatar I believe……

I’d love to try IEMs out. But for my gigs, which are mostly 3 or 4 band bills with sound check only for the headliner, and line check for the rest through whatever provided back line is there I can’t see it being doable.
-
I’ve only left 2 that then folded, other than that replacements found/bands carried on. 1 - glam/heavy rock band. We’d been together for about 7/8 years, different lineups etc. We were gigging 3 maybe 4 times a year at that point, not enough for me so I went elsewhere and got a position in a regular gigging band doing punk covers. As they had a full calendar they had to be my priority. 2 - the punk covers band. They’d already been around for a while, we managed a few years, split for 6 months, reformed but it wasn’t the same. The guitarist could only do 4 gigs a year with 2 rehearsals for each gig due to his wife telling him this (turns out he and the drummer were forming another band which she seemingly didn’t mind, or more likely the afore mentioned limits were nothing to do with her at all). As such where we were super tight & good we became average so I left and the band folded. From those ashes the singer and myself formed Knock Off, the most successful musical thing either of us have ever done.

I get the thought that they’re tools, after all they are. But having been an engineer I never had the same attachment to my spanners as I do with my instruments. First set up on Brown & Ward or First Rebellion Festival. First fix on the Wickman or First European Tour. First time I worked alone on my section or Recording 3 killer albums that all got rated highly by Vive Le Rock. So yes tools they may be but I never gained a great deal of enjoyment from my spanners, my basses however…..

Sadly I’ve been there (no idea why you wouldn’t lend me your bass 🤣). But seriously, gigs like that are just a right pain in the donkey.
-
Yup, erase erase erase, much like the way The Daleks do in Dr Who, anything that doesn’t conform must be eliminated.
-
I use a guitar Mono M80. Not cheap but neither was the bass so worth it imo.

Some venues really just don’t have a clue
