I’ve not owned any but have played through a good few, with usually the only set up time being a line check but always been able to adjust eq to quickly get a good sound. They seem to have a presence that some other brands don’t imo, it’s difficult to describe it, maybe a hardness/solidity to the sound. Really helps with on stage sounds and hearing yourself.

The Fender Red Label shaped cases are a bit more streamlined than Hiscox cases, difficult to come by though. But in a car, as there’s less rattling around than in the back of a van I’d be tempted to use a Mono M80 gig bag.

I’m fortunate that I can get items delivered to my workplace, and as our reception is permanently manned (or is that personned perhaps) any deliveries and I get notified straight away. But it does annoy me that the no signature thing which happened - rightly imo - during the pandemic has not been stopped, surely the industry regulator should now put things back as they were, no signature and back to depot. We’ve (my work) had Royal Mail claim to have delivered something and when challenged their reasoning was that as GPS showed their vehicle was at our post code that is sufficient. No proof of delivery, no signature, no photos, just GPS in our location. And the regulator is letting this happen.

Yes I thought that when I saw them last year, he def looked a bit frail. I suppose they can sell FTJ as it being songs from The Jam? And they have been going a long time now.

Given its age and previous ownership if it were me I’d keep it as is, some nice genuine road wear there. But if you really want to get rid then is it surface or ingrained, if surface (as in sweat & gunk over the years) some good quality guitar polish should do the trick. Ingrained, well I’ll let others answer that as beyond me.

Yep I saw him with SLF a good few times. One of those strange things, he`s known for being in The Jam but was with SLF for longer.

I bought my first Sansamp there. On the subject of 80s basses I notice a lot of Arias on early 80s Top of The Pops re runs, John Taylor influenced I dare say.

I saw the title of this thread and dreaded opening it, as I understood Bruce had had some health issues recently. Great bassist, one of my main inspirations to play bass, and a nice chap too - only met him the once, which was a real "we`re not worthy" moment for me, he could clearly see it and put me at ease, asking my opinions of the stage/sound/lighting etc of where we were playing.

I think it would be very difficult to offer a better suggestion than the above

Never had that myself but should it happen I think a decent sticking plaster and try to avoid using said finger. If bass lines have to be simplified so be it, better to have a tight simple bass than an all over the place in pain one.

I think that’s a lot of it, many bassists/guitarists dream of finally owning their first actual Fender or Gibson. Makes sense to have an affordable starting point.
