  1. Although I’ve found that me & Stingrays aren’t that good a match they’ve sounded best to me with Ernie Ball Super Slinky’s on them.
  2. There’s an ABM combo on here at present, and a thread which includes details about a bloke who delivers safely & reliably, in case said ABM is too far away.
  3. As much as I love Ashdown and will recommend their gear all day every day I’d probably pick up a used Rumble combo, see if it works for me, if not then move it on after having identified the areas/aspects where for me it was lacking.
  4. Many people seem to rave about the Sires, similarly with the Yamahas. Have to be worth a look.
  5. Edge did a darn good job on bvs as well, to be honest I thought he was better than Bonio who’s pitch was fluctuating a bit
  6. Just watched a very interesting clip from The Tube in 1883 where AC is playing guitar on a song called 40, as well as playing chords he was doing harmonics etc. Im sure that the haters will say it’s cos the bass line in that song was too difficult….
  7. Thankfully I don’t have a washing lube or that would be added to the list. You’re right it doesn’t matter, but it would bug me rotten until I’d dealt with it.
  8. You are very fortunate, CDO (I have to put the letters alphabetically) is a rotten affliction for some of us.
  9. After years of 110s & 105s I now use 45-100s. I find these match with a Precision better due to the pickup placement, having the thinner E & A, and thinking about it yes, the thinner E does fit better sound wise. With most strings it always seemed the A, D & G sounded like part of the same gang with the E being a new prospect that was nearly in the gang but not quite.
  10. That’s exactly what I did with my Para Driver @Tech21NYC, enabled me to always have my sound irrespective of what amp I was using, made gigging so much easier combined with always being able to be certain of having a great sound. Great pedal btw, am surprised more bassists haven’t found out about them.
  11. I had one of their Tony Butler Sig Precisions and it was a very good bass indeed. Well put together, played and sounded great. Out of all of the more budget range basses I’d tried in order to find a backup to my US Fender Precision it was the nearest in both neck size and sound. I got mine cheap (though spent a fair bit on it afterwards) but £50 is an absolute steal. Vintage imo make very under-rated instruments.
  12. Probably is, Orange gear is very heavy, I’ve had Ampeg & Eden 410s of similar weight, and Peavey TVX 410s are/were probably heavier still.
  13. Def, I’m sure if I end up gigging again my Ashdown RM500 and one ABM PRO-NEO 210 would be enough but the ABM600 and both 210s will get the gig!
  14. Looks great Rog, I’ve always found the same re Stingrays and likewise wondered if the HH config might sound more “me”. And now it looks like you’ve found the answer, which will set me on a quest no doubt.
  15. Must admit I always go for Roqsolid covers but for what @BassAgent is looking for Hotcovers fit the bill better imo. The padded pvc/leather cover would be ideal.
  16. That’s a shame that Peavey feel that, sure their bass gear is nothing flashy but it’s super reliable and sounds good. Sometimes - often for me - that’s all that is needed.
  17. Or Parcelforce, their T&Cs prohibit insurance on musical instruments
  18. A trick I got from our old producer was get a good sound from amp/pedal etc then just engage the BDDI with everything at midday, adjust blend to suit. It just then seems to shape and tighten the sound that you already like, making it just fit in the mix that little bit better.
  19. Congrats Stew, I had one of these for a while as a backup to an SVT 3-PRO and it pretty much nailed the Ampeg sound. Obviously not the full SVT sound but it was very near to the 3-PRO, or at least what I got from it.
  20. Yep, for a padded cover hotcovers is the place to go to.
  21. Agree, and if it were to be 1200 mono there aren’t many cabs around capable of handling that so the potential of blown cabs.
  22. Sold One genuine Gibson Les Paul hard case. Please note this does not fit an SG. Cheapest I can find for these is £155 at Thomann, and you then have shipping & customs charges to factor in so £100 a bit of a bargain imo. Given recent nightmare courier threads no postage on this.
  23. Sold 2009 US Fender Precision pickup with attached pots/cap/jack, just solder your ground wires and away you go. Only changed it as some of my fave CS62s came up for grabs. £50 including delivery within the UK.
  24. Yep, one of my fave cabs of all time was the Peavey TVX410, just a shame it was so heavy. Peavey gear = good sound & reliable.
  25. Good point, Yamaha quality is pretty much standard (and legendary).
