  1. Farm Factory in Welwyn Garden City is pretty decent, good PAs, nice & clean and good bass gear if needed (Ampeg amps & 810s).
  2. And very good work too, Gary
  3. Super congrats, what a result
  4. I like the TC Polytune, smaller/less bulky than the TU2, works great and very easy to see (so great for my middle aged eyesight).

    Do I need them ?

I used to use a Tech21 Para Driver for my eq, as I used so many shared/provided rigs I wanted to make sure my sound was always the same. It wasn’t a generic sound, couldn’t always be achieved by just the amp on the day. Now I’m not in that band I just get a good sound from my amps, either Ashdown ABM600 or RM500, Shape on, minimal drive & some compression, good to go. Compression very helpful as on solos I can dig in a bit if needed and get more drive but without volume spikes.
  6. What comms did the seller send out re collection? As you say you’ve not received any, so it’s down to them to prove to Ebay, and they won’t be able to. As has been said, their problem not yours, start the dispute ASAP.
  7. Nice one Stew, I also use the Shape on both my RM500 and ABM600 in the same way with once selected then boosting mids to get the sound I’m after.
  8. Live concert of Manic Street Preachers from ‘97 on Sky Arts on at moment, really enjoying it.
  9. How would you like your war, I mean your soup?
  10. Either my tv, DVD player and dvds or my books, I think if completely deserted and no chance of getting off of it these would keep my mind more occupied.
  11. I’m not in a gigging band right now, but I have bought a new rig during the pandemic, amp is the same as I foolishly sold my Ashdown ABM600 so bought another one, but I now have two of their ABM PRO NEO 210s, so if do end up gigging then they’ll get used. Plus I bought a couple of great basses too, Fender Precision & Precision Deluxe, depending on band type one of those will get the call.
  12. Currently watching Deep Purple, the musicianship and Gillans vocals are pretty amazing. I’m not familiar enough with their material to know if this has been touched up/edited but I really hope not as I’m very impressed and that would be a let down.
  13. Never played one unless the Pino Sig Precision is counted as one (it was @Clarkys one that I played), which was a truly fantastic bass.
  14. And listen to the bassline line to Nice & Sleazy, then to one of the mid section breaks in Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas and there’s not that much difference. Similarly the verses on Duchess and Surrender by Cheap Trick bear more than a passing resemblance. Should point out I’m not knocking The Stranglers here, great band, loved them since the late 70s.
  15. It could have been the biggest rebrand since Marathon to Snickers 😂
  16. Great amp, must be nice having that in the armoury.
  17. Less of the foreplay now 🤣
  18. Agree Dan, I found this out by accident a few years back, that the tone as you describe might not sound great on stage but it really translates well in the mix out front.
  19. I absolutely loved the Ashdown ABM215 that I played through, far preferred it to the SVT810.
  20. One of the bass tones that really inspired me to pick up the instrument
  21. It does sound like a renaming is in order
  22. And I think they might have also been tired & emotional when recording it As in, as a newt
  23. The Marshall VB & DBS ranges were great bass amps, ideal for rock etc, but yes, never really known as a bass amp company due to the huge guitar amp reputation. I was surprised when they took over Eden and am even more surprised at what they’ve don’t with it as it would have been an ideal opportunity to get properly into the bass amp market.
  24. I can see tort……
  25. Bruce Foxton on the Setting Sons album or JJ Burnel on the Rattus Norvegicus album for me are/were the most exciting bass tones. However although in my last band I had a vaguely similar tone to these my preference on tone for my own playing is more the typical warm Precision/Ashdown sound. But this wouldn’t have suited the band, and I’m a firm believer in choosing tone to suit the band.
