  1. And me, I used to hide behind the sofa when it came on Top of The Pops
  2. I think I’d be tempted to buy it online from GG just to spite them.
  3. At the moment my bugbear is Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas. If we do it right the first time at rehearsal I’m fine with it but if someone else makes a mistake and we do it again I find my fingers falling over themselves on the fast riff at the end of the song. With it getting progressively worse the more times we do it. Aaarrgh!!
  4. Yeah, coupled with the low-mid bias of a Precision they can get boomy if lows are added. Because of this I send post eq to the desk via a Sansamp Para Driver which does the usual Sansamp thing of removing some mids so it focuses the sound, sharpens it up a bit.
  5. Good to have you back with us
  6. There are some very good ones out there, The Ramonas and Maid of Ace being a couple of them. It’s a great scene too, lots of fun and great people both in the bands and in the audiences.
  7. Unleash your inner Iommi……
  8. Well done! I had the v1 of these (and also still have a v1 but with maple) and they are great basses, if the v2 is anything like them then you have a cracking bass there.
  9. I think you’ve hit the number 1 with the number 1 post, Stew
  10. Best to try and keep those to the bare minimum 🤣
  11. Great, really pleased for you, and what a stroke of luck the guy knowing the track you chose.
  12. Reminds me of the first tour I ever did. Got in the back of the van, all chatting/laughing/looking forward to the gig. Pulled up, driver opened the door and we got out. I noticed a shop that said Barnsley Newsagents and enquired, isn`t the first gig in Bradford? Back in the van then.......
  13. Yep, I read in Glen Matlocks (Sex Pistols bassist) book that he had one of these and the on stage sound dispersal was pretty bad.
  14. Happy Birthday Sarah, have a good ‘un
  15. I get where you’re coming from Doddy, I had a sub 8lb Precision and it just didn’t feel right, felt like it was floating in the wind.
  16. I hope that it’s as near factual re setting up a band as possible, no need for people without a clue trying to be funny as there’s enough humour/silliness involved with musicians anyway And great to see punk brought to the forefront for a change, will have to watch this from now on
  17. This mirrors my school reports Chris, A for achievement E for effort 🤣
  18. I have to admit I’d been wondering about getting a ‘Ray and having a Precision pickup put in it in the correct position, maybe passive/active switch. But then I’d be spending a lot of money on a bass for it to sound like what I already have, just for the looks and slightly more comfortable playing. So no, wait til I win the lottery maybe.
  19. Motörhead is probably my limit, aside from them when I hear that constant double kick style on the bass drum is usually when I switch off
  20. Every Musicman Stingray that I’ve had. They look great, play great, are really comfortable to wear/play but after the initial buzz I realise that I just don’t like the sound, or at least the sound when I’m playing them. When others play them I think they sound awesome but I’m so Precision ingrained any bass in my hands other than a Precision just doesn’t sound right to me. Now if a Stingray sounded exactly like a Precision, well I’d be in bass heaven as the ergonomics & fit are better for me.
  21. Roqsolid, great products with many options.
  22. For me most of the bassists whose both sound and playing I like/liked played Precisions, so I suppose it was fate/the hand I was dealt that I would end up playing them as well. Those sounds and playing styles inspired me to play the bass, without them I might not have found the instrument and ended up on the G-word full time. Makes sense to me, in as much the same that if I couldn’t stand the sound of a certain type of bass then I wouldn’t choose to own/play one.
  23. I unfortunately managed to land on Sultans of Swing, right notes I think but no feeling, so nothing like a solo really.
  24. Must admit when we used to tour I also had a backup amp with me, trusty Ashdown RM500 (ably backing up my ABM600) fitted easily in my leads/pedals/gumf box, kept at the side of the stage with my backup bass. Any problems sorted quickly.
  25. Now if they didn’t have the multicoloured silks I’d get some but my OCD just couldn’t deal with it.
