  1. Past hour
  2. I use a Zoom H4 essential for ambient these days, but i was using a cheap Behringer B-5 mic in to a small mixer before that and it worked really well. Once i had it sorted out i felt much more comfortable with IEM’s. I guess one question is do you want stereo or mono? Personally i find stereo much more natural sounding. Even though the bass is mono it’s nice to hear a bit of spread from the room IME. You could get a small Behringer mixer and a pair of Behringer C-2 mics for around £100.The mics even come with a mic stand holder that holds both.
  3. Oh heck, sorry Rob. It was a pretty good gig, but our gig at the Rose & Crown later was better. The Aspinall was absolutely rammed with people. They must make a mint.

ZOOM B6 recognizes Guitar Lab for windows. Always has.
  5. I think we may have played on the same list as Katy, although I'm not positive. We definitely did something with Gasoline and Matches, although it was only the "front three" of guitar, vocals and violin.
  6. Little update - added a preamp for my fretless ABG to hopefully tame it at volume.
  7. I had a mint, still in the box with manual, Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal that I bought for 68 Euros. Then John Meyer started using one and the value went through the roof. Sold it just before they announced the reissues for £650.
  8. Great basses, the 63 is killer though, I loved that bass man. I know what you mean re gigging values though, sometimes it doesn’t make financial sense to take something so valuable
  9. I use a BB2 and a Super Midget. That gives me a choice of three rigs. For most gigs it's the BB2 on its own. Frank.
  10. This one runs the tubes/valves on 300 Volts, should work different from the Streamliner. Hopefully I get mine delivered tomorrow. It should have been here Friday 3rd, but the sh*tty Fedex changed delivery time from "before 18.00" to "not specified".
  11. Well, the shorties arrived and they are on. Very nice they are too. E and A are perfect. D and G are a bit heavy but I’ll have to get used to those. They have gold silks at each end, and the bridge end silks are quite thick. The silk is resting on the saddle for the E and A. I don’t know what that means for a Mustang, if anything.
  12. It is certainly an issue with some pickups when faced with lots of gain.
  13. Today
  14. Yep, I play bass for Katy Hurt who originally branded herself “country” but there are so many influences in her music it’s easier to call it Americana. Doing Black Deer fest this year, have done Buckle and Boots, Rock’n’Ribs, Long Road in the last and hopefully again in the future. As @jimmyb625 says the festival scene does sometimes feel like a very closed club though. Have met some lovely people through it though - Gasoline and Matches, The Jackson Line, Two Ways Home to name a few bands worth checking out.
  15. We had music lessons aged 8 to 11 back in the mid eighties. Our music teacher was a somewhat gifted polymath who rocked on piano and taught about every subject going at school. I learned various sized recorders and how to read bass and treble clefts, but not an ounce of music theory. All we did was learn to sight read. So I didn't gain a true appreciation or understanding of music. Weird thinking back and analysing what actually happened and realising it was mostly pointless. It was paint by numbers. My young daughter's musical education will come from me instead, and I won't be relying on the school system to teach her.
  16. Sorry this isn't an offer, but my jaw is on the floor. This is absolutely stunning. Do you just play it like a bass? Or sometimes chordy, like a Bass VI?
  17. Gigging, is not my number 1 priority Daryl. Great if I can spend an evening playing smooth jazz to people who want to hear smooth jazz but also great if I can just get together with like-minded players and play to no-one other than ourselves. I don't need to get paid for playing. I'm happy to play charity gigs all day for nothing however, having said that, I wont play for £50 as I believe commercial gigs like pubs, clubs etc, should reflect the work musicians put in, not devalue it.
  18. Just got home from our now monthly gig at The Sun Inn in Beverley. Usual request style gig with my acoustic duo, and some great tunes asked for including ‘A town called malice’, ‘Shotgun’ and a bizarre Pulp Fiction medley comprising ‘Miserlou’ segueing into ‘You never can tell’! At one point they had the door locked to prevent any more people coming in, and also ran out of glasses - the place was absolutely rammed. Although a great crowd of people, it is one of those gigs that is very full on - we do three 40 minute sets and with so many people it is impossible to play all their requests. Still, plenty of good comments afterwards, and the landlord was pleased with the turnout too. ( Picture below is from last week at Scarborough, just sent to me by a punter).
  19. Thank you. I'll try with some other basses
  20. Your wife pretends to know nothing, but she knows. That sensitivity control tho'!
  21. Would The Hanging Stars fit the bill? “Sweetheart Of The Rodeo” era Byrds vibes meets Flying Burrito Brothers, sometimes a bit of Tom Petty influence too. Have been on a couple of festival bills in Oxford and London with them and they can really tear it up live. There’s definitely a ‘cosmic country’ / Americana overlap in the UK with folks like Bobby Lee, Joe Harvey-Whyte, Spencer Cullum, etc. And it’s funny how it’s all come around again. I remember The Rockingbirds doing country rock / Americana in the 1990s but not gaining much traction beyond the true believers. They were amazing live though, and if they were still going now they’d definitely be seen as keepers of the flame.
  22. Hi gasman, does it do it on the basschat app as well as BC on safari
  23. It will be a terrific looking and sounding bass for sure.
