  1. Past hour
  2. Smoothhound have been out of stock for months and aren't answering emails about when it'll be back in stock; they've gone very quiet on twitter and FB too... anyone know what's happened to them? The only other microsuction tape I can find online is in Europe and they want £20 for an A4 sized piece... I only need about 2 square cm! Anyone know where I can find some?!
  3. Sweet all rounder really. Not done any specific reggae music with this but have tried it a home and it has that belly wobble effect 😂
  4. @neepheid Thanks - That sounds like a blast, my gear isn't anywhere near as good as most of the stuff on here and doubt anyone would want to try it (but you never know🤣), the opportunity to try different basses is especially appealing as there is very limited selection of instrument outlets near me and I keep seeing gear that looks nice but never sure if I'll get on with it. Biggest worry is the burning jealousy I'll have over all the nice kit and lack of funds to buy any😖 @Frank Blank - That's an impressive recommendation, reckon I need to get that in the diary. @Woodinblack - Thanks, looks like there was some seriously nice kit on show
  5. Oh man, where to start with that? You may have noticed that EV is quite a thing for the LGBTQ+ community who are hardly known for being shy about going out and having a good time in their own special way. The whole point of EV is that it's supposed to be an inclusive event that is worth watching. You won't get more people in pubs by putting ever worse stuff on TV, and let's not forget that we actually pay a license fee not only for the Beeb to screen this nonsense but to fund it to the extent that Olly Alexander's excuse of an entry goes straight (if that isn't an oxymoron) to the final. FWIW I normally go to the pub on a Saturday but I don't like eating early so generally I go early evening and I'm home by 8.30. Unless there is a band on the pub is normally almost empty by 10pm. Bands are generally on Friday and I'm out doing other things on a Friday but when I get home I can normally hear the end of their set when I'm in my living room anyway.
  6. Many thanks, you were absolutely right! The key just needed to go in further. I've never encountered this before with any of my basses or guitars!
  7. I thought that was more Britains got talent sort of act (an assumption, I don't watch that!)
  8. It looks like this - here is last year
  9. I found on My Warwick gnome by running the gain up higher makes a punchier overall tone, then I set the master volume to get the sound level I need, so depending how punchy I want the tone I'll adjust accordingly (don't know a better way to describe it but hopefully it makes sense)
  10. I wooed my wife with that bass line! It was the song that played as she walked up the isle
  11. Confusing him with the early 70s Rolling Stones guitarist perhaps??
  12. He took over from Brian Jones in The Stones. You young ‘uns can’t be expected to know I suppose…..😅
  13. A nice and compact distortion and fuzz. In as new condition with box. £25 posted to your door. Or I can knock a fiver off if collected. More info. - https://www.mooeraudio.com/product/Thunderball--104.html
  14. Superb is what it is! You turn up in the morning, having bought any bass gear you see fit, pay a tenner (for the hire of the hall) and you spend the day checking out everyone else's basses and amps. Not only that, the NWBB speciality is a superb lunch made by Mrs Scrumpy and her Scrumpettes. Essentially it is day for bass players to simply indulge themselves in loads of basses and gear. Lots of folk drive miles (it's 230 miles for me and I've done it twice) worth every mile I'd say!
  15. A bass bash is when a bunch of bass players get together, bring some/all of their gear, set it up then we all go round admiring and trying out other people's basses. There's the general social aspect of it, there's often things like talks, gear shootouts, raffles and sometimes food is laid on also (can attest to the feast at this one being particularly good).
  16. Couldn't you just use a thumb rest and stick it on with 3M VHB double sided tape?
  17. Yeah i only use Ozone 11 and a couple of Waves plug-ins. The rest are just stock.
  18. Still waiting for the upgrade. Have to head out to rehearsal shortly so I'll probably get the upgrade when I get back. If you want to upgrade, but retain the option of being able to roll back to the previous version in case of issues, go to applications in finder, right click on the Logic Pro.app and click on [Compress "Logic Pro.app"] to create a zip archive of your current version. I've almost completely managed to wean myself off using third party plugins so I'm not worried about incompatibilites.
  19. I recently built two Fenderbirds as a tribute to Peter Cook. About a year ago I was approached by a former fellow student of my brother. His passion is woodworking and in particular collecting tools, such as very exclusive planes, chisels, rasps, etc. Now he had bought a very nice CNC mill a while ago. And he was looking for a nice project to play around with. Anyway, we decided to make a complete bass guitar together with that CNC-machine. I would give him all the dimensions and specifications and he would make the 3D files. Together we went to my local wood supplier to select rough planks of mahogany and maple. I bought the hardware and electronic components. And two months ago - after countless samples of scrap wood- two bodies and two necks were ready to be processed into a bass guitar. I glued the fingerboard to the neck, tapped in frets, lacquered, sanded and polished it. Filled the pores of the body. Lacquered, sanded and polished that one. Then mounted everything. Today they were finally finished. The funny thing is that it is absolutely no less work than making it yourself by hand. Only if there is a series production, then all the efforts will be able to bear fruit. The Brooks Fenderbird (Jufferschans Edition) - Mahogany body - Brooks all maple P-bass neck - Fiesta Red finish - EY Guitar Thunderbird humbuckers - 34" scale - Bone nut - Wide travel Thunderbird bridge plus tailstop. 20. thanks for the input @ezbass and @mybass The Bass is on hold for the Moment!
  21. Unknown by many, but this is truly a hidden jem; a fantastic "glitter" bass, made in the mid- 90s by Channel (Korea). Channel made musicinstruments mostly for the USA market. As it seems, the Warwick Thumb was a big inspiration, because the body is very similair. The quality of this bass is very high and feels and sounds like a pro instrument. The active jazz pickups sounds amazing, the setup is great so she plays very light and easy. Nutwidth is 40,5 mm, right between a jazz and precision bass. Total weight of the bass is only 3,7 kg. Condition is almost mint. €850,-
