  1. Past hour
  2. Somethings popped up that I’d really like to go for, so I’m going to drop this to £750 for the next week, and then I’m going to withdraw it.
  3. I think they ditched loopback when they moved away from FireWire but I may be wrong. USB-C units definitely don't have it from what ive read
  4. I got it at GAK March 2024 as an early birthday present - I sorted it out through one of the staff there Ryan who I had a few email conversations with about it. My local luthier set it up for me with the new strings and the old ones are included. I assume it was made in late 23 or very early 24 as it’s a newer model and relatively recent addition to the Hofner range. I’ve enclosed pictures of the booklet which has the matching serial number to the inside label - you can even see the name of the craftsman handwritten on the label. Hofner really know how to make something special. I’m sure Hofner would be able to find the exact date for you if needed. If you want pictures of the inside label and serial number and are seriously interested please PM me.
  5. Had also been asked about the weight of this: 4.15 kg / 9.15 lbs
  6. Man, this is better than The Archers Omnibus. What's coming next?
  7. Take Me Home, Country Roads - John Denver
  8. Class D versus big iron? Valve amps versus not valve amps. I've got a GK Fusion 550 and a GK MB Fusion 500, same preamps, different power sections. I've got some big boxes of bottles too.
  9. It's a thought but what we've always tried to do are demos rather than talks. You'd need the right room to do that in and it would be difficult in practice. I'll give it some thought. This year I'm wondering about a proper blind test of something but I'll give it a little thought. I know I wandered into PA last year so I'd like to go back to something more bass related this year
  10. No that’s ok, initially I was more concerned you might be selling these below their worth, and was hoping to help you get a fair price for the others… then when I didn’t get a reply I started panicking they may have been stolen, until I saw this post on here explaining who he was etc. Anyway, I hope they were easy enough to shift at those prices and didn’t cause you too much hassle! It’s a subject I think about a lot regarding my music gear, and my kids who will someday be lumbered with it!
  11. oh! I didn't realise that was the problem! dang...
  12. Apologies for repeating myself...got a bit trigger happy, how does one delete posts? ☺️
  13. Thanks for taking the time to clear all that up. Sorry to hear about your past experiences, I hope there are good memories too.
  14. Is this plus Stevie's post, the seed of a Bass Bash talk? There's a lot of quick win handy hints for the gigging bassist.
  15. Wherever I Lay My Hat - Paul Young
  16. Yes, thank you. I was drying with a cloth as I went along the board. I was being a bit gung-ho as it was a freebie, I would've probably researched for a couple of hours on how to clean frets and fretboard if it was one of my 5 string basses 😄

  19. There's only 2 bags I'd ever recommend... 1. Soundwear 2. TuffBag The Soundwear is the Rolls Royce and has carried my main orchestra bass around for the past 25yrs and still looks brand new! The Tuff Bag was imported from the USA. I was looking for a famous Mooradian case (it's a bit lighter than the Soundwear) but they went out of business. The Tuff Bag people bought the pattern, materials and even employed a few of the staff. They added better straps and made them even better! Highly recommended. Ultimately it's about how much you value your instrument. Would you buy a Soundwear for a £750 school bass? But if you have a £120,000 old English or Italian bass then the cost of a Soundwear or Tuff Bag is negligible. Horses for courses I suppose. (tip, avoid the ones with the wheels built into the back of the case [Tom and Will etc] - they often break. Focus on light weight, padding and zip quality). That's my two peneth.
  20. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  21. (More clearing…) sE Electronics Gemini II MK1 2013. Had this new directly from work collaboration I was doing with sE at the time. It was put to little use ever since I had it. When I did use , it was handled like new born chick and properly as you would with any dual tube mics. (Moved when cold, wait for pre amp to warm etc .. ) For certain applications - Tubes are kings and queens ! They produce beyond what is ‘sterile’ and add that subtle character (warmth.. saturation .. ) we often look for when tracking ! It sets sessions apart in my experience. So while these can do clean they arent sterile ! ! And like pre amps - tubes can set the difference between takes and parts. What is special about the Germini II is that it sounds beautiful and uncompromising for a fraction of a U47.. This mic will be HUGE on vocals, guitars, overheads, and double bass ! will be an amazing room mic as well all your podcasting needs and beyond ! Its solid build and was made during a period where sE was really producing outstanding microphones ! Price: £650 (Lowest, like for like, I could find on the bay and reverb combined is £650) Condition: Excellent. Includes: Original box, manua,l all cables and pre amp. Collection: Brighton or London. or can post within the UK (tracked and insured, at your expense.(will be heading upnorth 23/24/25/ August so can meet along M1/M6. Meet along the way or outside Manchester or nearby cities.) Fell free to ask any questions , - If of any interest, im happy to throw in a pop filter and a boom arm that might fit your vocal filter - free of charge ,, let me know if interested. Thanks ! (The actual briefcase box was stored in attic studio and was moved about, might have few scratched on the body of the briefcase.. but nothing I could see that was worth taking a picture)
  22. You’re welcome, I’ve been there. People knew what my father was like, but he was so likely to resort to the law of libel if they said anything he didn’t like that they kept quiet. He hospitalised a girlfriend such that her kids didn’t recognise her i think that my point is that there is some therapy in knowing you weren’t the only one it happened to (so less “why me?”)
  23. It wasn’t just that comment that annoyed me, but it was as you said mainly years of anger of Lorne being painted as a saint when he really wasn’t. I have spoken to the person who made the thread and I have asked him to take them down. Thank you for your support 😊
  24. You can keep your hat on - Tom Jones
  25. I think he needs to invest in a back up strap and some time in sorting out his pedal board. No-one should be getting shocks from a pedal board. Its generally all low voltage in pedals and suspect its more a static thing than actual voltage shock but definitely needs investigating. I prefer my fans in front of the band 😂😜😂 I take a large 18" gym fan for our female singer and a smaller 16" gym fan for myself. Drummer also uses a 16" gym fan. Wearing Glam costumes and wigs it does get very hot on stage and those fans and 2 litres of water each gig are my saving grace. 🤩 Dave
  26. Also the Sansamp Bass Driver never really scratched me where I itched - I still reckon the Paradriver is vastly superior
