Anyone need a PA amp? Usual excellent Crown quality, this amp has only had light use and comes in a Chord carry bag. Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. You can also put it into 'Bridge' mode for seriously high levels of output (according to the spec 1.5kW into 4ohm) Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier to you at cost.

My first bass was a second-hand Burns Sonic. At the time it was the only bass I could afford and for over 10 years the only bass I owned. I used it on the demos that had CBS records interested in signing my band. It went through numerous modifications in order to keep it playable. However when I could finally afford something good it was replaced with a 5-string Overwater Original. After that it spent most of its time unplayed in its case. When my current band did their first set of recordings I used it on one song. We re-recorded that song recently and I used one of my Gus 5-strings instead, which sounded better. When I had my big clear out of instruments I thought long and hard about keeping it for sentimental reasons, but I ended up selling it. It didn't really fit with any of the music I've played over the past 30 years, and if I had kept it, it would have gone back in its case and into storage.

If you are not into doing your own stuff, loan, steal, and arrange. Like Paul Anka did his lounge recordings. I think nothing is sacred in the blues scene any more, a song in major can be arranged pretty easily to the blues/minor scale. If the owner of the rights is nice (and you to them!), even some words can be changed from the original. Our band wanted to change few words from an old punk song, as we wanted to make a bossa nova of it. Like we were young and played punk then, now we are middle aged people with kids. We wanted to make the song very laid back, but the changed words was the final straw. We weren't given the possibility to publish it. (Even though the original artist gave a thumbs up of the idea and our arrangement.)

Haha. Whenever im asked by customers what soft touch feels like, i tell them it’s like a nipple (obviously i chose who i say that too).

Fender(ish) PJ with Jazz neck for £2k max - what would you go for?
tauzero replied to DF Shortscale's topic in Bass Guitars
Apart from the maple fretboard, I think an SGC Nanyo SB300 would fit the bill unless the string spacing is rather narrower than I thought. -

You see, I don't have that. When I get my 'ray out it's a bass. It's a nice bass but it's a bass. It's a MusicMan Stingray like hundreds, thousands of others and while it's a very fine instrument it doesn't feel irreplacable in any way, I just look at all the wear it's had and think "some of that is from me onstage!" and that's the nice thing, but I do think maybe I'm not as attached to it as I thought I was.

My Aguilar Chorusaurus is used on at least half the songs in the rock covers band I play in. It's set up with quite subtle settings. Examples are: Don't Stop Believing (obviously). Boys of Summer Crazy Train The Power of Love (Huey) Message in a Bottle (the guitarist doesn't use chorus). Pour Some Sugar 99 Red Balloons Dude Looks Like a Lady Hold the Line Sometimes I forget to switch it off and no one has complained...

Small "Hifi" amp head recommendations sought!
Hellzero replied to andyhaines's topic in Amps and Cabs
Frankly, @andyhaines, simply buy a Bugera Veyron 1001 M, it's the most transparent amp I have ever played, and if the fan noise is bothering you, simply put a Noctua ultra silent fan in it, job done. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bugera-VEYRON-MOSFET-BV1001M-Amplifier/dp/B00UD3J05A/ And then, you'll start your endless quest for the best amp suited to your tastes and have an excellent spare head. -
Oh dear, 8 weeks! But the quality is outstanding. Very nice to see so many phases of your work.

Happy to meet half way. Maybe a curry or something? Would have to impose the Big Bang Theory rule of no physical contact, up to (and including) coitus. A hand shake is permitted! 🙂

Looking at the prices of my usual supplier 250 cards matt laminated is under £20 so if your contact details change it's not a big deal to get new ones printed.

Anyone had an experience of the Bassics AH900 head? https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/bassics-ah900/ looks interesting -
***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

Bygone music/bass shops you were fond of?
Agent 00Soul replied to kiat's topic in General Discussion
This is especially true for we left-handed players. Finding a lefty instrument in a shop was pure luck and they often weren't interesting (and almost always painted black for some reason). The internet made what seemed impossible, a decent selection of all kinds of lefty instruments, possible for the first time. -
In which case - there's also an earlier Beta for sale (not £125). Keep your eyes on the market place - there's loads of good stuff there most of the time and also loads of great folks to deal with.

Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale Bass
Pinball posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Impending retirement means that I need to de-clutter, beginning with some of my beloved basses. A Beautiful bass bought from here in 24, with a great sound, which I am just not using much. It is the real deal with gorgeous looks and construction in my honest opinion. Someone out there will love it. It is also loud enough to practice with without an amp IMHO! Happy to post as it comes with a generic hard case that fits archtop basses "The Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale bass guitar has a comfortably short scale at 30.25", and is armed with two powerful "Black Top" Filter'Tron™ bass pickups, giving it an electrifying deep-end voice and identity. The double-cutaway hollow and bound body offers full bass tone and balance, and is finished in Transparent Red." Note: I have been asked about neck dive, just in case you are worried about that this is my answer. "I can't say that it has bothered me,. Being an true hollow body/archtop It is very light and hangs horizontally, but it feels normal to rest my right arm on the body, which pushes the neck upwards to a comfortable, natural playing position. It also feels good sitting down. I imagine that the longer scale Gretsch hollows may have serious neck dive". G5442BDC Spec sheet.pdf-
