The latest version of Logic has a built-in session bassist. If you're lucky enough to get called to record for someone, it might be because you can deliver that little something else that only you can.

When Italo Disco was good, it could be really good :

Unless you're Dave Swift or Guy Pratt, playing in time and in tune is essential, and nobody will care what bass you're playing or how many strings it has, especially with remote sessions being very much the thing nowadays.

Just had a short play with it to confirm. Yes, it's boost/cut, just doesn't have a centre detente. As bass amps all have their own characteristic pre-baked EQ curves, centre detentes are a bit meaningless anyway. I think the reviewer doesn't understand the MID controls - the manual explains it, very briefly. It's a sweepable mid, with a MID FREQ control to set the frequency to cut/boost (200Hz to 2kHz) and a MID control to do the cutting/boosting.

This neck is modelled on the Moses made Steinberger 5 string neck fitted to my own self built basses. The string clamp can accept double ball end and single ball end strings. These necks have already been built and been imported into the UK. No wait for shipping, no customs duty or shipping charges. Features include: Indian ebony fingerboard (6mm thick) with zero fret 24 levelled stainless steel frets Double action truss rod (accessed through the string clamp end) String clamp that accepts single ball end strings Monocoque construction (a hollow shell) with resin core Matt polyeurathane finish Neck inserts and matching bolts supplied Measurements @ zero fret: 45.3mm @ 12th fret: 59.8mm@ 24th fret: 67.5mm Depths (front to back): @ zero fret: 19.57mm @ 12th fret: 22.2mm @ 24th fret: 26.75mm Neck heel: 75mm length allowed for. Please note: The measurements above are indicative. There might also be slight variations in appearance of the weave due to the hand made nature of this item. Installation: We recommend asking a local luthier to drill holes for the inserts, the process should take them about ten minutes and no more than 30 minutes to install the neck into a custom body.

Nah, you only knock that end bit on mic stands and walls. Better without it! 🤣

£3300 is the sticking point here. Im sure they are absolutely fine basses and great to play, but you can get an arguably better Ric like a new 4003 (or just about any other manufacturer come to think of it) for this sort of money, or even far LESS money. The old 2030 shorty they did before was designed to be a cost-effective alternative to the 4003 for shorty enthusiasts, as was the 3001 before it. Im not sure what the target market here is at this price... at least charge the same as the 4003 (or better still the 4003S), considering its almost exactly the same dimensionally just with different pickups and machineheads? The 4003S is c.£2700, what makes this £600 more? I was very interested in picking one up at a 4003S kinda price point but at this figure its a very easy "nope".

Very true, both your comment on social attitudes and the headstock.

Thanks. If it’s boost and cut I’ll get one asap.

There are plenty of bands playing the bars in that area and most of the bass players are friendly. Maybe approach one of them for advice.

We live in times where we're afraid to be frank, brutal and honest with social posts, for fear of reprisals/replies in the form of if you can't say anything nice... but this is 100% spot on. It's an absolute munter of a bass. You have to have some love for an instrument you're going to pick up and play, but not this one. The headstock looks like Lego.
-
Totally gutted to miss it, hoping for better in November

Quite like the body shape but the end of the headstock needs to be rounded in my opinion !! John 😎

It's an interesting one, 'cos there's an argument that tops are completely fine with going down to 60Hz? So why cross at 100Hz? I'm definitely no expert here, but if a key purpose is to relieve the tops of their low end lows to focus on non-bass frequencies, then crossing over at 150Hz (because the bass combo can easily handle up to this) would be more beneficial than 100Hz. But, as I say, I'm no expert!
