  1. Past hour
  2. Seems a shame there’s a price jump from the tonex one to the tonex one bass edition though. The promise of a wet dry blend has me potentially sold though - it’ll likely kick my ultra wave and jam rattler off the board and I’ll keep the tone hammer as a DI/tone sculpt
  3. Yeah the 4 string was mine - Jon did a stunning job but it took a while! I still have it and it’s still my favourite most played bass
  4. Exactly. With regards the Tonex, I’ve said for ages I rate it highly - I sold mine and tbh regretted it. I’m likely going to buy the small Tonex One pedal with this bass pack pre loaded on it — £179 in Andertons and you can use some pretty cheap midi pedals to get more functionality from it that you do the big Tonex (like so) 👇 I’ve got the Stomp which has acceptable amp/cab sims, I’ve got a great analogue preamp which I only really bought so I could run it into my amps fx loop on gigs with backline but use for everything currently, however the Tonex amps are streets ahead of either really if you’re going direct or recording (Just IMO ofc)
  5. Same here, they might not look cool, but in hot sweaty venues they ARE cool.
  6. Other than not being to taste I wouldn't say the bolt-on Thumb shape is improper or has an incorrect horn length.
  7. Just love this video. Tony Levin's bass part for 'Solsbury Hill' from a live video on YouTube (attached on the webpage). https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/solsbury-hill-peter-gabriel/
  8. Thanks
  9. Make it a lefty, then you can use B which is clearly the better side. That know might make drilling the neck screw holes tricky, hopefully you have a pillar drill and a fresh bit.
  10. The EBS MB3 is a fantastic piece of kit indeed, it makes everything sound better for me, and spices up "thin" sounding basses in a satisfying way. I use it a lot as a headphone amp too. I use the drive channel for some subtle grit, sounds decent to my ears.
  11. Hello PetNanoFerret. Looks like you're the luckier one among us. Of all the faults this pedal suffers from, a faulty switch is probably the easiest to identify and fix (although desoldering it can be a bit tricky). If one side isn’t switching contacts, the switch is definitely defective. Mine switches 1-2, 1-3, 1-4 on one side, and 4-3, 4-2, 4-1 on the other. Definitely replace it and see if that was the only issue—check out the other possible failures described in this thread
  12. His advice is to buy something dirt cheap and a bit broken, then fix it up. That way you won't ruin your prized and valuable antique instrument. Head to car boot sale or charity shop and find a battered acoustic and build some confidence with it!
  13. I'm a Rickaholic!
  14. BuT i'M a BaSsiT! i NeEd XlR! 🙃 I also don't understand the frustration it seems to generate. I don't think guitarists are so ready to get so angry about the lack of an XLR.
  15. I regularly have his stuff on my recommended list. Main problem is that he's so calm about it all and makes it look so easy that it gives me overconfidence to try it. Luckily the item sold so I don't have to put that to the test. Thanks for the info.
  16. Today
  17. Source Audio Gemini now sold.
  18. Watched 2 minutes of that... Jeez what is so difficult about carrying a TRS>XLR cable with you when you have a Tonex, Stomp et al?

  21. I use Rotosound 40-60-80-100 roundwounds on my Rics.
  22. On that front, I have an EBS Microbass 3; it is an absolutely excellent piece of kit. Its only downfall is the "distortion" channel; if it had two identical ones it would be perfect (they do a Stanley Clarke acoustic bass version, but it doesn't have the tuner). Apparently the Microbass is the pre- section of their Reidmar amps, so I have one of those to try. The last jam I did I took along a Trace Elliot amp and played it through a large cab; it sounded rather good with just the pre-shape button pressed.
  23. Both of my AV2’s had the holes in! Lovely bass, GLWTS. 👌😎
  24. That's going into my vocab book
  25. Very nice. And that secret CMC pedal looks interesting 😛
