  1. Past hour
  2. Finally found Gary Numan's set. Bloody awesome. Sound issues I read about seem to have been addressed with a bit of post-production.
  3. Always could consider the D-roc from Dingwall! Sparkles! https://www.andertons.co.uk/d-roc-4-khaya-gloss-metalflake-aquamarine-3-pickups-pau-ferro-standard-head-pr34gmapsh-x-1/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20740064305&gclid=Cj0KCQjwyIPDBhDBARIsAHJyyVhcN5hV5ovyP-c8mdHanR51HO2ePrDSwzyfnR-tmoVZT19Q-ireEV8aAuJREALw_wcB
  4. Releasing the tension on the truss rod is way better than straightening it to have a dead flat fingerboard. 😉
  5. Ah ok. To clarify, the pencil is used to poke in the earth socket to open the guards on the live and neutral sockets to allow the pins to enter. As soon as they start to slide in, I'd remove the pencil as it's not needed from then on.
  6. Thank you for the info in your replies.
  7. Get a sparkly vinyl wrap
  8. It was - and that's not just me on an ego trip - the band played the best it ever had, the audience created and incredible atmosphere and the singer (who organises the whole event) was at the top of his game. 😀
  9. Having worked for the fire service for several years, strange things really do happen… (I didn’t work as a firefighter, so thankfully didn’t have to respond!)
  10. Isn't there a bass chat member that has a purple sparkle Thunderbird ? Daryl
  11. Stick some sequins on it ?
  12. Root to Branches - Jethro Tull
  13. Yes, It's neck thru. Daryl
  14. This is a good read… https://www.theguardian.com/film/2024/feb/14/getting-it-back-the-story-of-cymande-review-the-second-life-of-a-cruelly-ignored-uk-funk-band As others have said, they’re well worth checking out, and, yes, you probably have unknowingly heard them before!
  15. Leaf and Stream - Wishbone Ash
  16. Obviously I'm not giving away Tim Minchin himself, but I do have a ticket for his show going spare. E-ticket so meet at the venue.
  17. This is just an initial take, in headphones, and it might be slightly unfair on the Classic Pro as I have not had a chance to change the strings yet (not doing that until I get chrome tuners). To my ears, the Classic Pro is darker sounding, much more prominent in the low mids, whereas the Vintage Pro has a somewhat fuller range of sound, a bit more top end and a more balanced (but still very aggressive) attack. The difference might close up a little when I fit fresh strings to the Classic Pro, so may revisit this question again. But it is broadly as I expected. The Gibson TB+ pickup, love it or hate it is a growly, mean sound, with that emphasis on the low mids, but retaining a full bottom end and a (possibly only perceived) lack of top end as a result. The Epiphone Probucker 760 is more balanced - it's hardly "hi-fi", but it's an honest-to-goodness passive humbucker which is a tad easier to work with as an all-rounder. It's all EQ-able of course - you can make the two sound like each other more or less by tweaking some EQ. I don't like one better than the other, I know both work great in a live setting (because I played them both last night) and that's all that chiefly concerns me - I don't tend to evaluate basses predicated upon how they sound on their own much, hence my lack of vocabulary for describing such things. But you asked, and that's the best I can tell you right now.
  18. So take the pencil out then. Yes, it is possible (but rather unlikely) for disaster to strike if you take the tranny out but leave the pencil in. Maybe, as an electrician I am used to seeing way worse but I would assume Mark isn't leaving the pencil stuck in the socket while using the pedal board.
  19. Who you jivin'?
  20. Thanks for posting, I’ll watch this later on tonight when the ‘others’ are asleep!
  21. The point is; the gates to the neutral and live will now remain open when you remove the transformer, until you remove the pencil. The original 'earth' pin would have been plastic and only there to open the gates. You could then drop all sorts of metallic objects into the socket by accident. Or if your fingers are small enough they could be pushed in. Only needs for the transformer to be doslodged while you change a string, when one end of the string just happens to flick into the live, and you have the ideal recipie for a scene from Final Destination, or The Omen. 😆
  22. Sound guy forgot about the vocoder section on Get Lucky…came in twice as loud as the rest of the band 🤦🏻‍♂️
  23. Salad Insane - David Bowie
  24. Price includes uk mainland postage. barely used. I haven’t trimmed them down so there’s loads to work with. Save yourself a chunk instead of buying new ones! Taken from my longhorn.
