Interesting that the Zoom MS-200D+ is in there as it's still a current pedal. And it's a bit surprising that there's a Les Paul that you have to pre-order, I'd expect a clearance item to be in stock. As for that Bacchus, couldn't they have just left the scratchplate off rather than putting on something that looks thoroughly cheap and nasty?

Behringer XR18; 16 input stagebox with six monitor and two main outputs. You can control the mix of the monitor outs with an app, so each person using one is in control of their own mix. Each musician has a DI which goes to FoH, the 'thru' goes to the XR18 and the monitors to the IEMs, the mix of which each member of the band controls via the app (doesn't work so well if you have more than 6 members!). Once you've set it up it pretty much stays the same and it's not so bad to cable up. In the old days, or when we're not using IEMs, we have an amp for each member of the band each side of the drums so at least we have a good mix of every instrument across the whole stage and vocal monitoring is this only major issue.

Aye, I was trying to buy a M-VAVE chocolate midi foot controller- just to have a bit of (cheap) fun seeing how midi works. But I ended up with just the wireless midi bit! Going back in I saw what they did - give you a pick of the foot controller with several options, with the cheapest being ‘not what you thought you bought’ (the wireless dongle on its own in this case). I did think I was going to have a fight over it and have the hassle of returning it but they just refunded my £10. Turns out if I want the foot pedal that’s another £27. And now I have a wireless midi dongle and no way to use it 🤷♀️😂.

When I checked, in the basket, the unit was still described as a Lekato WS-70 but the picture had changed to the Honiyo unit, I really can't be bothered to send it back for the sake of 8 quid, that's probably what they rely on, and it does work, haven't really tested out the quality yet, might be ok for home use

What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

Yes, I know a lot of people here love the idea of modding basses, imagining themselves as some kind of mad Frankenstein in a shed putting together a monster that they think will slay USA Fenders or boutique basses, but having a shed and a screwdriver does not make you the bass world's equivalent of Colin Chapman. Harley Bentons/Squiers are fine for what they are. They don't need USA Hipshot Ultralites, Babicz bridges, Kiogon looms or Warman pickups. If you want a £250 bass, buy one and play it. If you want to spend £1000s, there are plenty of great options off the shelf already. -

Toobs. Since when did the word valve suddenly become pronounced toob? For example, "man I hate those shi**y little modern class D amps, gimme somethin' with toobs in" What are you talking about you gibbering idiot, you're from Wantage, not bleedin' Idaho. -
You have to watch out for that. If you go back to the original item, you'll probably find there's a selection of wirelesses and the most attractive is shown as the default but the cheapest is the one autoselected for you. I fell foul of this when I finished up with a couple of Amplug type things when I wanted something else.

I’m often surprised when people recognise me as I have one of those generic faces that you see everywhere! When I was touring with the theatre band, me and the crew would often get people coming up to chat when we were eating out before the show, which was nice. Now I play mainly locally, I think it’s still nice when people say hello, especially musicians I haven’t seen or worked with for years. Our monthly residencies attract lots of musos and it’s always good to catch up with them, even though I play like sh*t when it’s bass players…..

I've been to the US quite a few times; the first occasion, mid-80s, honeymoon, it was honestly like travelling into the future. Several times we toyed with moving there and I've oft quoted the Blade Runner line pertaining to the off-world colonies and the opportunity to 'begin again in a land of opportunity and adventure,' in support of this. If I was 20 now, I'd be more interested in living in Italy. I wish I'd just realised that 40 years ago.

And to answer your original question, I've put Artecs into a couple of basses and I'm very pleased with them.

I've used lockwashers to act as a shim between the threaded shaft and the hole for a couple of pots and switches.

Help: running two cabs when there aren't enough sockets......?
Beedster replied to Beedster's topic in Repairs and Technical
Absolutely, thanks once again to @Steve Browning and @obbm, I use the box pretty much every rehearsal, perfectly engineered, built like a tank, and to paraphrase Anchorman, works 100% of the time 100% of the time 🙏 -
Nice one - I'm not normally a fan of gold hardware, but that works! Here's a naff photo of my cheaper KB1. Probably the oldest piece of kit I own but, whilst I don't play 4 string basses any more so it just sits in storage, there's just no point me selling it as it's hardly worth anything and it's very 'mine'. I should get it out and check it still works, but even if it didn't I'd just bung it on the wall as art.

I have a few basses but this is still one of my favourites. I think if I could only have one this would probably be it.

what's the XR18 stagebox ? How does that fit into the system. ? Dave

Where we can, we take control of our on stage sound. We give the FoH engineer DI's and tell him not to bother with foldback, then feed an XR18 stagebox which from which everyone uses IEMs and controls their own mix. For the most part the xr18 settings don't change now they're dialled in, so it's just a case of plugging everything in. And to make matters easier, we use cables rather than wireless.
