You do know that "disposable" means it's disposed on rent/mortgage, food, utility bills, etc, don't you?

AI music overtakes real band its modelled on
Naigewron replied to SteveXFR's topic in General Discussion
The problem is that no streaming service can guarantee that, unless they demand to see the DAW project that was used when producing the song. There's no algorhithm or manual process they can employ that will eliminate all AI music and not also flag a bunch of real music as AI. -

Re Hagstrom Viking - good and bad The good - it's an affordable semi and has a good solid thumpy sound. The bad - the crappiest selector switch ever, ergonomic issues - like all the semis with a trapeze tail piece, the bridge ends up being halfway up the body, so you have to shove the thing well to the right to get to a sensible plucking position. After a fret level and replacing the 6 way rotary switch with a Switchcraft toggle (and binning the coil taps) I am a lot happier... I suggest trying one before buying. Sound wise it's good and the slim neck is great. I'd look at a Guild Starfire as the best (?) option. YMMV

So if you had a hit after ripping off an AI created tune, would the internet have to sue you? 🤷♂️ -
You seem to completely miss the point! Yes, we all know how the housing ladder works, but what about those who for some reason haven't built up equity over the last 20 years? This is generally younger people trying to get on the property ladder, but can also affect other people, for example like me who earn decent money but had a chaotic personal circumstances in their 30s. The fact is that if you haven't been able to build up equity, can't get help from the Bank of Mum and Dad, don't have significant inheritances to come or are not otherwise independently wealthy then just putting a decent roof over your head is very difficult (if not impossible) and can leave you in very insecure circumstances. No wonder mental health issues are so common these days. No one is labelling house owners as wealthy and looking to tax them, quite the opposite. We need to help people afford a decent home against the backdrop of stagnant wages and a delinquent housing market. It is ridiculous that a person living on their own on the most common salary is condemned to living in poverty and that a couple living on twice that amount would have a very insecure lifestyle and struggle to bring up children. I agree with you about minimum wages and encouraging businesses to invest and employ more people, and yes, there are plenty of empty nesters who are worth a lot of money due to the value of their property, but may (or may not) be cash poor. The issue remains that wealth is flowing to the very rich, stagnant wages, the middle class is getting poorer and poverty is going up. It's not surprising that fewer people are going out to gigs, especially in the less affluent parts of the country!

The AI groups creator cited Holding Absence as the main band he used to create his AI album. You can hear it in instrument and vocal tones. Holding Absence are basically the same as late Bring Me The Horizon so I guess the AI geezer didn't use them because of their rather fanatical fans and big legal power. -
So what you are saying there is anyone relying on their income to get by in the world rather than their wealth (the sum total of the assets they own and possibly extract rent/revenue from) is going to struggle and this struggle is getting worse over time? I would argue that the term ‘housing ladder’ is another way of saying ‘inflation resistant alternative to cash’ or a hedge against currency debasement. I don’t know why this is such a difficult concept for people to grasp. Those who are reliant on wages only get shafted by the current system * . It’s simple. Creating more money (wages) won’t make any difference. Replace the colander rather than try and fill it with more water. Edit: This system is not capitalism. What we have lived through over the last couple of decades is not capitalism and it’s getting worse. The global south can see this and are retreating from it and creating a new system as I type while over here in the west we get more dystopian, more insular and more aggressive towards our allies and competitors.

Hey bass folks Does anyone here know if you can add another cab onto the Ashdown MK500 210 Combo amp at all? My gut is telling me as long as the extra cab is 4 ohms then it should be ok. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Jay

Regrettably selling my trusty Darkglass Microtubes Infinity. It’s in good overall condition with a couple of very small scuffs either side of the front edge of the unit. Velcro on underside. Perfect operational condition and syncs well with the Darkglass Suite. Original box included. Price is £325. Collection from my home in SE19, South London or can post at cost. Thanks for looking.

I could see AI music being good if it gets to be properly intelligent and did the job of good music by making you feel something and then enhances that experience by making it truely personalised. e.g. music to help you relax/sleep that is in-tune with your sleep patterns and heartrate, music that is just right for motivating you at the righ parts of a marathon, music that helps you concentrate on study/work within the timeframes you give it. In some ways, it takes the 'celebrity/pop icon' aspects out of it and just leaves you with the music and emotion it creates which is possibly a good thing? But yeah, current AI music isn't any of that - it is just a middle of the road regurgitation of stuff humans have made. If it doesn't move on from that I'd expect that once it starts heavily referencing AI made music it will just get get increasingly bland. A quote from Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk when they split up "As much as I love this character, the last thing I would want to be, in the world we live in, in 2023, is a robot". He went on to completely leave technology out of it and hand-wrote a Ballet score that was only played on traditional instruments. I expect there will be more of this sort of push-back, a young person today might grow up always accepting AI music for their gym workout or background ambient music but I expect (or hope) there will also be more enthusiasm to see humans playing instruments live. -
Rather more secure than my old brown factory case! When I took it back to Paul the other week, he expressed amazement that the piano hinge was still intact

Is Wilton Felder one of the best bassists of the 70s
iainbass replied to jamersongoated's topic in General Discussion
The brilliant Wilton Felder played on one big hit, the Jacksons IWYB and a stonking groove it is to, but he was primarily a highly sought after saxophonist. For my money there's a whole tranch of little known post Jamerson players from that period worthy of consideration including Scott Edwards, Philly souls Ronnie Baker and Henry Davis who played on Love Hangover.. etc. All top flight studio guys who very few people have even heard of. -

Bought from Juan Alderete’s big Reverb Store sale. Shipped it to the UK, paid the duties, had the Thru jack fixed/sleeve/nut added, had the power switched to 240v. Sounds great, adds a subtle richness to the tone. Would pair beautifully with my Camden EC1 for the ultimate clean studio tone. I’m having a big clearout, won’t be heart broken if no one shows any interest.
