  2. I'm sure the BC massive can help fulfil this requirement I've just seen on the socials "FEMALE DOUBLE BASSISTS: looking for 7 female double Bassist. Paid gig. 7th August 2025 as part of London Open Call at Whitechapel Gallery. Rehearsal 5th Aug Performance 7th Aug This is a minimalist and durational performance art piece where the double Bassists are required to play 1 note continuously for 40/50min. Please get in touch xxx https://www.whitechapelgallery.org/exhibitions/london-open-live-mahsa-salali-the-call/" I'd 100% be up for that if I fit the spec better Also, not sure if it's pizz or arco (nb link contains slight nudity)
  3. Bumping this to note that although collection preferred, I can ship. If so, will send DHL insured with an extra cost of £35. Will need to purchase a proper bass guitar shipping box and packing so will mean shipping is somewhat delayed.
  4. I would say that I would also not usually be a fan... all my other instruments are some version of natural finishes/sunbursts. But for some reason the piano black on the smaller than usual jazz bass body, with the dark rosewood board, mint pick guard... looks excellent! It's also lightweight and plays great! What more could you ask for...
  5. The fret dots in the "wrong" place would not work for me, as @Stub Mandrel said, and would probably stop me from buying any kind of de-fret.
  6. Anyone feeling lucky?
  7. Dominic has messaged me back to let me know that everything is bypassed when the pedal is bypassed.
  8. My thoughts exactly. 😎👍
  9. Thanks! I've just splashed out on a new USB B to Micro lead - think I might be able to cobble the rest together - see if it will work with Android tablet or phone. If not, as you say, the Fender Link IO is cheap enough.
  10. That’s what Roger’s Preamps were always meant to do - make a Jazz-style Bass much more present and punch through. They have very well chosen frequencies, whereas the Fender Preamps are more polite and sit back more. I always liked my Dimension Elite, but the preamp never really did it for me. The increased top end was welcome, if polite sounding, but the frequencies weren’t as well chosen as a Sadowsky.
  11. You sir, are a scholar and a gent
  12. I Yam What I Yam - Popeye (Robin Williams)
  13. I recall reading Michael J Fox's autobiography, in which he shared his own battle with Parkinson's (and his open-head, conscious, brain surgery to relieve him of the symptoms). He was unable to act, but could do voiceover work - Stuart Little was him. So, perhaps the voice will be unaffected by the illness?
  14. I'm not sure as I've never used it but I've send Dominic a message to find out. I'll let you know what he says
  15. MXR Brown Acid is my current fuzz of choice. Based on the Supa Tone Bender circuit but with more bass.
  16. Knobs went to the dump, I presume. The truss rod broke, I get a new much better old stock neck (ebony, masandarube, hornbeam, maple). Went under warranty. Pete had great customer service. Very nice person.
  17. MK II definitely has the bass boost.
  18. This is exactly why I feel Sadowskys are better for being heard in a mix over Fender. You feel the Fender but really hear the Sad more in my experience.Depends on what your goals are. Currently rocking a Fender Player Plus Jazz V with a modified onboard Sad preamp with the VTC and when I play live I hear notes in a way I never did with unmodded Fenders whether American or Mexican.
  19. I did collect the original box from the shop when I bought it, so I could pad that out and post to UK mainland for £20.
  20. Slightly weird question, is the FX loop still engaged when the pedal is in bypass mode?
  21. Well we do always complain that we never get an accurate description on a sales listing 😂
  22. My golly-goodness! It's now cheaper than many things with the 'F-word' across the headstock. Somebody, somewhere has to buy this now.
  23. Pooh Are You - T'Who
  24. You make a very good point here. It depends how many of your gigs are DI'd to front of house, or "backline only". Mine are probably about 75% backline only at the moment, but if the band keeps up at current momentum, that will change. I do run wireless, so I get the opportunity to walk out front and check what FOH sounds like, and it's been OK so far with the BF Three10. When I run the vintage GK RB's I use an Orchid DI in front of them and run that to FOH, and when I run the modern GK Legacy 800 I use the built in DI. The bass I use does help, vintage P with flats, so I hope it's never going to veer to far away from what I'm looking for.
  25. Today
  26. As to the other part of your question; yes, you can gig with a U bass. I’ve done so, as lots of other people on here have. It’s obviously got a very different visual presence to a traditional bass guitar or upright. But, so what? There are bass players that even think wearing a hat indoors looks cool 😂
