NHM started following Bygone music/bass shops you were fond of?

I think probably the shop I spent the most time in was in Canterbury, where I went to university. A place called – I think – castle street music, or something like that. It was a guitar shop on castle street, and businesses in Canterbury tend to go for pretty straightforward names. It was called County Music - a lovely shop, good staff, a decent selection of gear for a small outlet, always happy to match online (GAK) prices.

When you’ve been bootlegged - at a gig Knock Off were playing someone turned up in a bootleg t-shirt of the band, a knock off of Knock Off if you like. -

My brand spanking new Barefaced THREE10 arrived just after lunch yesterday and within 6 hours it was on stage for a Nirvana tribute gig. It sounded glorious with the Ashdown ABM600 and the '79 T Bird Bicentennial. Perfect. -
Been having a bit of a Don Carlos weekend going through many of his albums, here’s a few that have stuck with me

Thanks both - really useful!

Go on then @BlueMoon 😉, I'll add the oldest musical thing I've got. That is in really good nick for 50 years old. Well looked after!
-
Blimey! That’s a blast from the past. Clearly still remembered for more than More Than Words…😉
-
Crikey, I'd forgotten some shops used to have metal shutters even then, hopefully deterring the thieves.

lol. I have naturally good timing and a good early. Shredding like a king… wasn’t gifted with that. I try to say it’s cos I at a think pbass neck but I’m only kidding myself lol.

I'm just letting off steam. I've had some bad luck/poor decision making with buying cabinets. First was a TC Electronic K212, which I love but can't find a matching cab for it. I decided that I'd sell the TC, and buy another pair of matching cabs. I got an Orange OBC115, which I absolutely adore, but now I can't find a matching cab within a 5 hour drive, and the updated cab is over £800 RRP. I'm frustrated with myself being stupid (and poor). I'm just ranting. I can't even sell my k212....nobody wants it!

Ive literally put out a wanted post for the genzler 4 on the floor. I think it will complement my genzler Magellan 350 combo. I want a tad more warmth. I’ve heard great things about it. Just the waiting game 🙄

First Bass Owned: Tanglewood Warrior (that bass was passed around most of the bass players where I lived at some point). 'Go To' Bass: Schecter Exotic P4 DIY modded with Turner Multicoils and Lusithand NFP. 'Your' Bass: Yamaha BB1024x, recent addition but just instantly gets the sound I need for 90% of occasions.

Extreme + Terrorvision at Halifax Piece hall. Terrorvision always s great live bank. Extreme still great aswell. Bass player Pat Badger very underrated. Often overshadowed by Nunos virtuosity

This project was a real struggle. It’s been here a couple of months, in bits mostly, and it put up a fight all the way through. I got it for peanuts, probably because the guy knew it was goosed. So, I ripped out all the knackered active electronics and binned them. I spent WAY too long trying to get them to work. Today, I turned it passive…. CTS pots, orange drop cap etc…. and now those EMGs absolutely sing. Piano like tone when played with a pick, lovely neck, very nice to play and well balanced on a strap. Maybe it’ll make an appearance at the next gig? A bit 80s like, but f*** it! 😉

I have had a couple of ideas for one of my basses, but haven’t actually got around to doing yet… #1 - Replace the cavity cover with a piece of 1mm steel with some ebony veneer. Drill the screw holes in the body to fit some magnets. But I worry about losing it. #2 - Mount a battery box into the cavity cover.

I've seen something similar in an Irish bar in Budapest!
