Rewbass started following Gain or Master?

Is it right to push gain all straight as long as it doesn't clip? I usually scoop the gain much more than the master and I'm not sure if that is okay. Does it affect to the sound? and if it does, in what way? Thnx in advance.

Android Tablet... software for setlist & notes

Now got a Galaxy Rab9+ and I'm at the 'realising how bad my old tablet is' stage... Perhaps it's only good for a photo frame, although I'm trying a few of these apps -
I took the covers off my Precision because I played right over the pickup, I didn't like the sound of the foam, it was a hassle to change the strings, and most importantly because John McVie took his off. I was easily influenced in those days!!

After reading through this thread, I decided to buy a TMB30. What a great bass this is for the money! I’ve put Hipshot Ultralites and a Kickass bridge on it, swapped out the 2 volumes for a master tone and 3 way switch, and it’s good to go. Not the lightest bass ever, but it balances fine now with that tuner/bridge combo and I like the chunky neck. Might swap the pickups out at some point but they’re pretty decent…. Will see how it goes at a gig.

We had the same problem with O'Neil's in Richmond. We were very loud on stage and on the dance floor but because of the low ceiling the sound didn't travel to the other end of the pub. The management complained about the lack of volume and in the end put the pub music on in the bar area! We did get rebooked but O'Neil's moved out a year later. O’Neil’s in Harrow was run by a nice woman. She always filled the place, but was fired, fingers in the till! The next guy didn't care and we played to half empty rooms. We got the blame for that and they dropped us. O'Neil's had the right attitude in the beginning. They told us it was their job to get the punters in and it was our job to keep them there. Fair enough but that changed, and the pub managers started asking why we didn't bring a crowd!

This is a good read. Wine journalist moves to Cuba to learn the double bass. It’s as much a study of the music and culture as it is the bass. https://amzn.eu/d/0dP0zXY

I've found a few choice things in CC over the years... Years ago in the Basildon one, I found the very first Warwick Vampyre ever made, serial 1001. Confirmed by Hans P Wilfer via email. Also recently found a Gibson Les Paul Studio signed by 30 or so legends including Steven Tyler, Alice Cooper, Duff McKagan, Tony Iommi, Meat Loaf etc. Again, independently confirmed. Some odd treasures do pop up in CC from time to time! -

Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK

This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers

Paddy Morris started following Oiling natural gut strings.

Hi there. Anyone out there who plays on natural gut strings, I'm wondering what oil people use to keep their strings in good fettle. I've always just wiped mine down with olive oil from the kitchen every so often. Is there a 'special' oil I should have been using all this time?

I do simple routs like this with forstner bits and chisels – I could easily adapt one of my existing humbucker cavity drill templates if you want to go down that route. Just give me the dimensions.
