Something from Jimmy Haslip today. This is his complete bass performance on the tune 'Homecoming' from the 1985 Yellowjackets album, 'Samurai Samba'. I chose it because it is mostly an easy read but there are some tricky fills in there so be warned! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/homecoming-yellowjackets/

Hi I'm pulling together a bitsa jazz, a nice Jazz body with very decent pickups and a decent bridge courtesy of @sifi2112 with a rather nice, quite old MIM jazz neck. The neck is wide and thin and its great to play. The body is not a Fender body but was made for Si. I've just got around to putting the neck on the body and it's very tight fit but a club hammer and cold chisel sorted that out. (joke joke). The holes in the neck don't quite line up with the holes in the body. Its about 2-3mm out. I can see the edges of the holes in the neck through the holes in the body. If they were a long way apart I'd simply not worry, but as they are so close, I don't want to damage the neck and I really don;t want to drill more holes in the body. So what's the best solution, do I fill the holes in the neck with bamboo rods and decent wood glue which I have, then redrill the holes when the filling is dry or something else. All advice welcomed. Thanks Rob

Things you didn't think you'd need to do: remote login to the organ from the Macbook... I have a 24" monitor built into the music desk so that I can play from PDFs. There is a spare USB socket near ground level around the back where I could connect a USB stick or portable drive. I'm thinking that rather than that, I could try remotely connecting the Mac to the organ's PC and do it that way. So, some online searches pulls up that MS makes the Remote Desktop app for Mac. I did need to run a script on the organ's PC to alter some permissions (again an online search sorted that out). I then remoted into the PC from the Mac and copied across assorted PDFs. I have encountered one issue that I've not definitely resolved yet. When you load a PDF (enScore) page forward stops working after the initial scroll to the start of the music. It might resolve when I next power up as I didn't do a re-boot after the changes to the PC. If not, the next thing to check will be drivers I suppose... (a big reason why I switched to Mac at home 8 years ago).

These months just seem to fly by, but then, we get get to hear the great new jazzfunkpunk from @Leonard Smalls who has been on fire again. So its time to fire up the DAW once again and show how the following picture inspires us. "Here's a pic. it's of some UFOs I saw while on a plane to Geneva a few years ago." I guess that is just out of this world! ✅ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ No Bagpipes, Please , please, will no-one think of the children. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you.. Deadline-wise, we will go for Midnight on the 24th June ... Which of course, in reality, means tea time on teh 25th A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be super duper smashing lovely. Good luck, Have fun

As an immerge from South Africa, she's going to either have to pay stupid door-to-door courier prices, or have it hand delivered through someone either going to, or returning the country. If this sale does happen, for the buyer and seller's safety, this is a country where the national postal system is "ooh, what's in that box/letter/parcel?" ... there are local DHL branches, but there is also PostNet - who are really solid. Just thought I'd add that in

Definitely try the Updater. Then if not, the official L6 repair place is in Norfolk. Go direct to them. When the repair place was in Milton Keynes I needed a repair on a Pod XT Pro Rack and they charged me £20.

The obvious stuff... Refinished years ago from red to black (serial number sticker in the neck pocket shows original red paint), paint work is appropriately scuffed, dinged and not immaculate. Presently fitted with a Badass bridge; there is an old bridge here that will come with the bass (as it came to me) but I can not swear it is the original bridge to this bass. Nut is a well fitted brass replacement. Pup is a Seymour Duncan replacement but it is passive so no extra routing etc. Scratchplate is not original. It looks like one of the nurbs is original, the other not and I'd not think that the pots are original... mainly because there's no horrible crackle (who wants old pots any way?). Straplocks fitted - I'll supply the strap fittings or I can fit good quality replacements ('might' even be able to source some 70's ones off the Bassdoc). As they say... other than that it is ALL original! LOL The neck/headstock serial number and the body (neck pocket) sticker match, no issues on that front. The neck/fingerboard has a 'little' of the usual discolouration on the very edge of fingerboard but it isn't bad at all, I've seen plenty maple boards that are WAY worse than this. It is set up really nicely with brand new fresh strings on and sounds very healthy. Overall the bass is really nice and has all the late 70's vibe that you'd expect... inc' the fact it is 10 3/4lb in weight (proof it is genuine )! Perfect for that 'Stranglers' or 'The Jam' tribute! I'll include a case but it will be ratty and only fit to keep it safe in (a) transit but if you are collecting from me and making it easier, I'll include a far nicer tweed style case! If I've missed anything I can only apologise and I'm happy to answer any questions. The absolute only trades I'd be interested in would be an early Warwick Streamer or a newer Sandberg VS / VT P bass (ideally black but open to talk). Obviously the price reflects the non original parts and refinish. Based in the North East but happy to talk about meeting up or courier.

Wonderful Bass! One of these was Nick Fyffe's weapon of choice for his time in Jamiroquai. Watch their 'Live in Verona' DVD - the tone is wonderful.
