  2. A fabulous piece of kit. I gig one. I really like that Gator rack bag too. Lovely.
  3. Wow, that is a magnificent amp!
  4. Got a link for that Chinese neck?
  5. Thanks that’s really helpful. I have a Player model, but I have a Musicman Sterling USA which has an amazing neck and I’d like to have the same on a P without messing with mine.
  6. Any suggestions? Ive seen the Sonicake IR loader and it looks good, but wondered if anyone has any other recommendations in this price range. £50 max I guess. It's purely for headphone practice at home, will never leave the house. Not even fussed about what it has in it etc, I just need to get that cab feel. Ive been using a Nux MLD preamp and got hooked on IR's, although I turn the IR off when using it with the band.
  7. I imagine from a manufacturing point of view, it’s easier/cheaper to put the control panel into the top? That way the front can just be a simple grille cloth and speaker baffle.

  10. In the 90s I used to gig with a 150W Laney Probass and two 2x12 cabs... one a guitar cab the other with two Mackenzie PA twin cone) speakers (the original FRFR cab? 🤣). And a pair of piezo horns on top!
  11. I can't imagine performing without my strap on. Always make sure it's secured tightly
  12. Whatever You Ward - Status Quo
  13. 😄 Yes, but it's tiny and it does... aaaall those things, you could carry it in your back pocket (you'll have to take the Buckfast bottle out first, 'though) 😉
  14. MXR M81 Bass Preamp https://www.jimdunlop.com/mxr-bass-preamp/ Clean preamp with bass, treble, and semi-parametric mids - one of Janek Gwizdala's winning bass DIs in his shootout last year. 1/4" and XLR DI outputs. No original box but will be well packaged. £95 including UK postage.

  15. Reduced now to £220 posted. I'll include a 30cm EBS "ICY" insert cable for use with the pedal's effects loop.
  16. Sounds great and his website seems really professional, too. Let us know how it goes! Glad to hear our advice has been accepted in the positive spirit it’s offered…
  17. Recently I bought a very good Chinese, Jazz Bass neck, off Ebay, for £76 including postage. It arrived within about 10 days, all the way from China. I wasn't expecting much but it really is excellent. Even has a cheeky Fender decal on it. I've also spent a lot more from a company in the States, called Stratosphere, for a used, Japanese Fender Jazz Bass neck. It was also very good but it would cost you about £400/£500 these days with the cost of postage and duty. I'd go for the Chinese option if I were you.
  18. The Hospital Song - 10cc
  19. John made this for me a few months ago, but now surplus to requirement as i upgraded to. Fender Jazz Elite its a superb combination. It provides each pick up with its own volume and tone control. It also has a series/parallel toggle switch slots straight in and as it has solderless connections, even i can do it! happy to post in UK ( included in the price) thanks
  20. I put one together - a no-name P body from the classifieds and bought a real Fender Jazz neck (Mexican). I had tuners and a pickup already but I needed a pickguard.

  22. The only stock FMIC Precision Bass with a thin neck I can think of is the Nate Mendel Road Worn signature model like mine, but you're not going to get one of those for less than about £8-900. Nut width on these is 1.615", which is not a million miles away from the Jazz's 1.5". Most modern C-neck Precisions are very close at 1.625". The Sire P5 (and P7) are a little wider at 1.653", but there's not a lot in it. What really matters is the thumb-fingers thickness. Go to a store and try a few to see what fits your hand... My other suggestion would be to buy a genuine Fender neck. The roasted Jazz neck is usually around £3-400 new. Which Precision do you have, btw?
