Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2025?
BassTool replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
And this pedal... After my Sansamp FlyRig failed spectacularly mid gig, and was going to cost me more to send back to New York to repair than I paid for it....😳 ....I bought this Zoom B2 four. Does the job, bass still goes bom pa pom 👍🏼 -

Aguilar pickup set, approx six months use, These would suit a six string bass, but I used them in my five string Roscoe bass as they're fitted on an angle. I've replaced them with the equivalent size bartolini set. Size 32x118mm, with two screws holes(screws not included) postage extra or pick up from Leicestershire.

Planet Rock - Top 500 - Interesting listeners votes

So the final lists are here, all 500 songs. Its easy to see from the list below that it's all grouped around the 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's. This is borne out by the decades table for the whole 500 This is the list before the last 70 songs and now after the whole 500 songs The 1970's and the 1980's increased their percentage of the songs at the expense of the other decades. Basically more 1970's and 1980's songs in the last 70 songs today. The top band were indeed AC/DC who had the same song recorded 21 times but with different titles (joke joke). Five in the top 50, so 10% of the top 50 were AC/DC. Their average position was 187. Second was Led Zepp with 19 and an average position of 203 Joint third on the list with 18 were Queen (average position 302) and Black Sabbath (average position 229) The average year of the top 10 was 1981, songs 11-20 average year was 1978, Songs 21-30 average year was 1976, Songs 31-40 average year was 1983 and Songs 41-50 was 1980. The oldest song was Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode, 1958, which only came in at 418 (travesty IMHO) The newest song was Shinedown - A Symptom of Being Human, 2022, which came in at 259. There were only 50 songs this millennium and their average year was 2008. I make no comment on the quality of the songs (apart from Chuck Berry), I am merely your humble scribe and data analytics person. Enjoy Rob -
I was meaning that the xr18 doesn't have any actual knobs or a screen that comes on when you power it up. I know too many people who say they've 'lost connection' for whatever reason or ended up cobbling a wired connection together for it. Doesn't seem to be the same issues with the CQ18.

This bass combines a lot of elements that I rarely see: 2-over-3 headstock; 10 string (so, 4-over-6 headstock!); multiscale. I like it, very much.

My Vigier Passion ii, it's been joined at the hip with me during 2025 gigs, absolutely love it ❤️ For anyone who missed it in Build Diaries, it was transformed from being originally fretless to fretted here: -
I do like the channel. I do wonder with review channels how honest they really are. Not stating they are I just think they go through ALOT of things.

I’ve had a few status necks and I kinda prefer that maple Flea, Bernard Edward’s, Gail A D, Nick beggs, that guy from Sade etc etc kinda sound but personal choice I guess but to coin a BC phrase…….’this won’t hang around for long’ cus ‘Rob ain’t making any more’! but seriously GLWTS super looking bass

I've been collecting and pedal-testing solidly since COVID but a lot's been happening this year and, as my priorities are changing, it's time to start letting some of these pedals go, including those that six months ago it would have been unthinkable selling. I recently listed a couple of Doom 2s, one in Cosmic finish and a high gain unit in Jade Sparkle. This time I've got a Bronze Age unit on the block from the March 2025 edition of 111 for £360 £300. The unit is the standard gain model and is basically new in box. The price includes Royal Mail Special Delivery UK postage. I'm not really looking for trades at this point but there are a handful of pedals I'm curious about: COG T-70 v2; Hamstead Subspace GE, and Chase Bliss Spectre.

In the case of a Status neck, improved. Note to note and string to string balance are pretty much perfect, stability and therefore playability significantly improved over all but the absolute best necks (luthier/top-end Warmoth, FCS), and there's a lovely layer of harmonic content that IME you only get from graphite, and good graphite at that (there is bad graphite, rhymes with roses....)

Liam just bought my MTD Super 5. Great communication; proper nice bloke to deal with. Had a nice chat about basses too - what's not to like! Would highly recommend and a real gent!

It does indeed sir. Many moons ago I had a WT800 with two 410XLT cabs paired with a US Spector NS6XL, probably the best sounding set up I've ever had. The WT1205 is going through a 610XLT cab and sounds quite glorious! Couldn't pass up on that rig when it came up for sale a while back... £50 for your US Eden head is a dang steal... Ex-combo or not!

A thing that would make me practice enough. -
You can tweak things on the XR18 - not sure why that would be different? You can put mixing station in a 'AUX only' mode, so they can only affect their own mix.

Here's a black n blue bass that I just completed.
