Aeron remastered. You’ll never need to buy another chair and you can find pristine examples for well under half the cost of a new one on eBay, gumtree etc. Arms swivel in and out and slide back out of the way or quick release up/ down/ off.

You should definitely go, they're amazing. Full of energy, tight as a nat's chuff and the bass player, Luca Pisanu, is amazing. Apologies for the sound, here's a snippet from last night's gig https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1738ocgr2a/

Can’t imagine many better shorties than this 5 er in the UK atm. 30.5”. looks a very good deal. https://reverb.com/uk/item/92416141-acg-0257-salace-e-type-headless-bass-5-string-eucalyptus-wenge -
I'd love to have a Herman Miller, however my budget is a little more modest. I bought this chair three years ago, replace an Ikea Markus which disintegrated. I use my chair almost all day, every day: https://amzn.to/43MVVGl The flip-up arms make it ideal for practice & recording bass/guitar. An essential upgrade for any office chair, especially on a laminate floor, is a set of roller skate-style wheels. These are the ones I bought with the chair: https://amzn.to/3JTF2mB The total outlay for the chair & wheels is still under £140.

Rosie C started following Double bass in a Vauxhall Corsa??

I used to transport my double bass in a VW Fox and a VW Up! which are both quite small. My method was with the back seat down, put the neck of the bass between the front seats, push forward until the tail end is in the boot, then push to the right, so the scroll moves to the left clearing the handbrake and gear lever.

I can confirm this is possible. Makes it pretty difficult to see out of the passenger side window, so be careful pulling out at junctions.
-
I might try that next time stage size allows.

In about 2005 I needed a new "office seat" for home use and after using a KAB Controller office chair at work for a few years I decided to take the plunge. Most other office chairs I've had or used ended up being uncomfortable or just dropping to bits. The KAB isn't cheap at about £1,000 but is VERY adjustable with height, tilt, weight, headrest adjust, lumbar air support etc. After 20+ years of daily general use it is still in great fully functional condition and you can get spares. Note: from 2020 I worked from home as well so thats 12hrs per day, 7 days per week. The arms also pivot up so I can use it to play bass on as well 👍

Thank you. That’s alarming and outrageous by Selectron. Sorry for your loss. Will check out that thread too.

thumperbob 2002 started following New MXR bass synth pedal released
-
I have the mxr. I think it’s more your touch on this pedal for ain’t nobody than the pedal itself. I think you have to get used to playing the pedal like a musical instrument itself. I just wanted this to get one synth sound though am using this as an octave and a chorus pedal too. I saved the three settings I need on preset one and two, three and four and five and six as I’m using the foot switch to change presets. Just in case I miss one. overall for live use it does the job.

JPJ started following Phil Jones bass amps
-
My experience was generally positive until I needed a repair. I owned both the Briefcase 2x5” combo until redundancy forced sale and the Bass Buddy preamp (basically the front end of the Briefcase amp). All was well until the Bass Buddy developed a fault and went off to Selectron, the so called UK service centre. After almost a year and numerous chase ups Selectron decided my Bass Buddy was unrepairable and wanted a ridiculous amount of money to return it to me that I didn’t bother, swearing to never touch another piece of PJB gear. Might also be worth reading the thread “Phil Jones in crisis” posted in the general discussion section by @cetera here before parting with any cash.

Not sure if I'm gatecrashing this thread here but I've recently hauled this oddity out of the Big Pile Of Near-Forgotten Basses: It's a 2004 Aria STB-GT, which would seem to fit the hybrid bill as it's an Aerodyne-ish P shaped body with a Jazz-proportioned maple/blocks neck, plus an MM pickup in the correct position! The original pre was pretty horrid - and constantly drained the battery, so I cleverly converted it to passive with series/parallel switching, only to find it sounded worse. So I sort of gave up - which is a shame as it's a great player and (IMO) looks amazing. However, 10 or so years later it's back on the slab as we speak, having a well-deserved hose-down & about (this afternoon, hopefully) to be fitted with a shiny new Retrovive Stinger P! -
In the days before he was flat out with Wal Paul Herman did a great job on a very badly mangled FL Jazz board 👍

Return to gigging for me last night after a medical "holiday". The Rebbels played a new venue, Bluebird Social Club, Longham (just north of Poole and Bournemouth). My partner said it was "a dump" last time she went there, although that was decades ago. There was a vintage carpet on the floor, but it was tidy and the tables and chairs were new and pristine. At 7pm it was empty. I took both my Fender Aerodyne and my Kala U Bass Solid Body as I am recovering slowly from a rotator cuff/shoulder injury and could not even pick the Fender until last Wednesday. However, a good practice session at home was encouraging, and I started playing the Fender. After about 5 songs, it was clear that I would have to switch to the Kala. By this time, the audience had swelled to around 40, although the place still looked empty they were enthusiastic, clapping more than was just polite applause and some line dancers were on the huge dance floor from the start. The audience reaction seemed to energise the singer, who was not only on the top of his game vocally but great in between songs. Despite the audience size, we were paid £25 extra and immediately booked again for the new year. I returned home happy 🤩, but knackered.

A good luthier could probably restore the board, a better solution if possible 👍

Bought this from Bass Chats Petey a few months ago. Lusted after one of these for ages and was delighted to finally get one. It has some brilliant tones in it and wonderfu neck too. It is in excellent condition and looks like new. It is currently sporting Rotosound flats which I fully intended to change until I realised I liked them. It comes with a TGI Extreme padded gig bag which is more than sufficient if you're transporting it by car. It also comes with a long strap too. Unfortunately I can't get on with large body shape of this when playing standing up. Sitting to play is no problem though but I don't want to do that a gig. Pick up or meet up in the Northwest. Don't want so post this as I don't have a hard case for it.
