I think it's easier to take when the second gig has the big crowd. Playing to a packed crowd on a Friday and then playing to a few " lost souls " on Saturday is hard to take. Daryl

We’d had a gig booked for months, a ticketed affair. I’d seen social media promotion and I assume something more locally. Come a week beforehand and, IIRC, a whole 6 tickets had been sold. Given it was a trek and any payment would at least have to cover fuel, the promoter pulled it. Fair enough, but a bit more, up front, clarity about the ticket sales would have saved the last minute ‘are we, aren’t we?’ shenanigans.

A few years ago we played to the barman and a cardboard cut-out of Marc Bolan in a venue in South Wales. We actually got paid - £13! That was between us... To be fair, it was raining.

I liked your idea, so as it was asked, the shīt sandwich has been delivered, just waiting for its taste in return. -

We don't play any pub gigs anymore. However, when we did many times we'd have to cancel gigs if there was a major "play off" football or baseball game on game on during the gig. Daryl

Actually I am not sure if it does, I will have a check later to see if it's there. Might be a feature they could add. The team that make it are really good at listening to feedback and feature requests. EDIT - Sorry just asked on their discord, apparently SongSelect have stopped allowing any new people to use the service to link into their site. They are continuing to support existing users which I am sure would include Onsong. Can basically read them all. ChordPro, Onsong etc. You can also save your files in whatever format you like to. So I can make a set list and send it to others in the band for their onsong apps. Two features I especially like are the ability to search for songs online, so if someone requests a song, fumble to search and add And also being able to share your set list and music via a web link. Although with the second one they will need to be using JustChords for that to work. Where it does lack would be beaming set lists to others if they arent using JustChords. So sharing with people can be a little, "Oh email me that and I will add it." But other than that, for free, I think its amazing.

It's nice when any of us play a venue with what we call a " built in " crowd. The Zeigler Winery put a lot of thought and resources into establishing themselves as a music venue. Not live music as an after thought. Daryl

Sorry just listened back quickly (skipping over tracks), it was In the Cage where I thought the drums were too low. My first listen was using earbuds on a flight... so not the best testing circumstances! I will listen again properly to the whole thing before opening my gob again 😅 -
How good is the pitch shift on the Anagram for bass? Generally loving my GT1000 Core as a serious quality step up from my previous Zoom multi, but its pitch shift is pretty meh!
-
having just glanced at it (and not tried it) I would be trialing just chords before onsong. What's the file format @GoodShowSir? I got used to the onsong syntax, is it similar?

Ahhhhhh! All things must pass. Another piece of the jig-saw of my life gets lost under the carpet.

I have the 2020 onsong - it was pay once and then no subscription model. It works if everyone has apple devices and uses it. I've spent so long building up a database of every song we ever sing in onsong format - to then find the new person who heads up the person reverted ... not to PDFs, but to folders of paper. I will be looking at this just chords thing

I got a fretless Warwick thumb copy back in 1996 .Vester custom shop . Got it to see if I could play fretless ,and how difficult it would be to adapt .It looks the same as Tauzero’s above. The neck is fantastic, the strings are a very light gauge. I was told by a couple of basschatters who saw the bass , that it was a quality instrument. The strings are groundwound , which are supposedly expensive but make the bass really easy to play. It has a brass nut also. The only downside I’d say , is the weight .

I played two festivals on Friday. At the first, we played to the security team. The second, we played to about 400. Madness.

I’ve twice done gigs where the band outnumbered the punters, once because the venue f***ed up, once due to the bloody world cup final being on in the other side of the venue. Both were cracking gigs however, we got paid, enrolled punters into a jam session, and had fun. Easy to take it personally but it’s life 👍

We've had a monthly gig for a while now. Last Sunday of the month at a nice venue. Only problem is no one ever turns up. We play to the bar staff and a couple of regulars. It's been a depressing experience for all involved and we've been waiting for the axe to fall. Finally it fell.

So... I would highly recommend you try JustChords instead. It's free so you can have a good play around, made by a few people really fed up with Onsongs stupid subscription costs for basic functionality. I love it. Just build up your database of songs, write notes if needed. Can change key easily and share set lists with people easily. I'm very much a music reader, (or chord reader for church i suppose :D) couldnt do without it now.
