soulstar89 started following Yamaha Appreciation Thread! and Mixer question
-
Hey peeps. Newbie question. my misses plays piano and obviously I play bass. I wonder could we hook both instruments to a mixer and plug two sets of headphones into it so we can both listen to each other while playing? If so any recommendations? My amp is at mine and tbh i don’t want to keep bringing over. Never used a mixer before but when I asked about playing silently with a amp that doesn’t have a headphone and aux out, people suggested a mixer cheers

For sale, this delightfully tiny MXR compressor. It's been my main "always on" compressor for years but I've started going without compression lately so it's not really needed any more. The pedal is in excellent condition, velcro on the bottom, and comes with the original box and power supply. Price includes UK postage.

Is Guitarchat.co.uk off-line..?
Woodinblack replied to Dad3353's question in Site Issues and Questions
no, its a number, one number is much the same as another number to a computer. Something is changing it, unknown what it is. -
He is. Well happy for him. Yamaha basses are nice

My late 70’s Yamaha pulser 400 with Bartolini 8cbp pickups and chrome flats. oh boy does it sound sexy lol.

I’ve no idea, if it’s anything like the one I had - you’re in for a treat.
-
Of course, but you weren't there, and you probably also do not know @kwmlondon. There are probably several possible explanations, of which playback is only one; another one is the one kwmlondon offered: that the player in question had chosen the material with care. BTW, I'm an unfan, and I'm much biased too. I like to believe this rat is also committing many other acts of low quality.
-
I’m not a fan though. I didn’t like his music that much I just believe that in a venue where I’m close to the stage I would spot someone miming guitar where you can see so clearly what their hands are doing. I guess I think because in the past I’ve been able to spot a mined performance I’d have picked it up.. but I can’t be sure. It does bug me now though and I really want to know for sure! I don’t mind a mess up though, that’s half the fun of seeing a live show is when a good musician pulls a mistake into a save!

Wow. Well done. I was thinking of entering the comp and then my large format film addiction got the better of me and I bought some new film gear 🙈😩.

I get it in principle. It'd be like a Star Trek universe kind of scenario, where everyone works to better themselves and not for financial gain. But humanity isn't there yet, we're still all inherently selfish and look out for our own. What I earn, I work for and do 'things' outside of the norm (mostly excessive travelling and chairing numerous meetings etc.) to earn that. Some would prefer to earn a different wage and not do what I do. Same for me and other jobs I wouldn't want to do (even if I could) that earn differently. Choice and the reward for 'hard work' are necessary at the moment in the society we've built.
-
Agreed. Not sure about you but I would rather the person piloting any plane I was on or operating on me was paid more than the baggage handler or security guard. It gives a certain reassurance that they are getting rewarded because they are the best at what they do in a competitive environment. I certainly know that the buck stops with me in my own field and it does so because I have more knowledge and experience than the people passing the problem on. If we were all paid the same then why bother?

I've met people, called fans, going to a Rolling Stone concert and never noticing that Mick Jagger is singing out of tune, or that Keith Richards is playing something but not what was supposed to be there... I know some other people having seen Madonna or Taylor Swift live and swearing that the band was terrific, when everybody is miming. I've met people telling that Céline Dion saved the slaughter that were the Olympics thanks to her magnificent vocal technique, when it was a wonderful playback. So, being a fan is being biased, don't you think...

I've tried that before. Sometimes the silk is intertwined into the string at manufacturing, making it difficult to remove. I've ordered what I hope is the correct nuts to do the job.

Just perusing Ebay and seen a nice looking AC Guitars, medium scale for sale at what I think is a good price. Collection from Lincoln area only though. 😢 No idea as to whom the seller is. Here's the link.

Stitch is with that, you eliminate the reward aspect of years of learning. Why go through 6-8 years of training and education to be earning the same as a shelf stacker? Yes, we need shelf stackers, but there are those that would rather earn less and not go through rigorous learning and those that would choose to go through years of education to reach a goal. I agree, in an idealistic world, you're right. But in reality it wouldn't work as we'd have no surgeons and lots of stackers!

Can't believe this hasn't been snapped up yet!! These are excellent basses. I've had one and also the much more expensive Music Man version. To be honest there wasn't that much difference in terms of playability and the sounds were slightly different but IMHO equally good. In fact, there are some Talkbass members who prefer the 'voice' of the SBMM. AND I think the black/tort combo really looks the business. Add to that the lightweight tuners to counterbalance the very light body weight of this one (mine was heavier)... If I had the spare cash right now I'd be buying this. GLWTS.

I don’t see many till operators sacrificing much of their youth studying for all hours, going into tremendous debt then later in life missing out on their kids growing up, working until the early hours, taking decisions that can lead to death or serious injury with all the stress that comes with this. I would quit my job tomorrow, let alone have spent all the hours and money to even get where I am if I could earn the same serving coffee. The people I know who earn more have sacrificed more, more time, more money, more stress and more risk. They deserve the extra. I started on the path and decided it wasn’t for me.

Allow me to fix that possibility, then...

Years in the making! This is the complete Anthony Jackson part for the tune 'We Three' from the 1986 Michel Camilo recording, 'Suntan'. This stuff is so challenging! Thanks to Gareth Hughes for the mp3. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/we-three-michel-camilo/
