How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
dmccombe7 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
We occasionally do a Sun afternoon 12-6pm. We make a day of it and bring sandwiches, flasks of coffee, cream cakes of course and take a longish break halfway thru. It allows us to run thru our full repertoire to keep things sharp for any possible eventuality. TBH we generally get thru the songs and finish up around 5-ish but it makes rehearsals a much more relaxed affair if not rushing thru songs etc. Dave -

https://kscollapse.bandcamp.com/album/strata This is a semi thematic 4 track ep, with myself on drums and bass (all done on a squier classic vibe jazz), and my good friend on guitar and some extra programming. Totally DIY job, so while it might not be anywhere near professional, I'm pretty pleased with it. Not looking for any money or anything - would just like to spread the word! There's a previous ep and a single track release on bandcamp too, similar vein of music. If anyone has any descriptions please let me know - always struggle to describe it to people...

I bought a lovely Sandberg Electra from Andy. It was delivered quickly and safely packaged. Great seller and a credit to Basschat.

Hey peeps. A little update. I went to Anderson’s to get the behringer mini headphone amp. The assistant was adamant it wouldn’t work and the returns is a hassle so we left it. He was extremely helpful. First time to Anderson’s and my lord is it great!!! Picked up the Yamaha sessioncake in the Yamaha store. Really helpful staff again. Bought two but didn’t like the sound all that much. I'm just going to pick up a mixer and headphone amp so we can both hear what is coming out of the mixer and adjust volume independently. My question is mackie and behringer of the same standard? This is a learning curve for me.

Agree. I really dont think BC is the place to share ones thoughts about an event like this. Three comments? Extraordinary.

I've got a very thick Morado(Pau Ferro) fingerboard on my Sadowsky Will Lee and it looks and sounds great. Apparently Roger Sadowsky is a big fan of that particular wood for fingerboards, describing it as sounding warmer than maple or ebony but tighter than rosewood. To me, the biggest difference I can hear between fingerboards is whether they are lacquered or not rather than between different woods, but I'm sure there must be something in it.

So, try as I might, I just can't get I with the slab body. This is Allparts trans butterscotch telecaster bass body, with the aged (rosewood fretboard) neck sourced from USA. Gotoh tuners already fitted too. The pickup is Bloodstone UK. All assembly and setup executed by my luthier, who made the natty thumb rest too! Although I bought the ferrules, the holes are currently capped as I didn't really require string though. It's lightweight and dead cool, currently strung with GHS Precision flats. Can ship. Trades maybe!

The white tapes I used are the light gauge ones sold for Hofners. Those are so bendy I actually had to be careful not to knock the strings off the edge of the fretboard. I guess the black tapes are somewhat stiffer!

Bought this for a project which never got done. its a Squier PJ body weighing only 1.8kg. In a nice Inca silver/gold finish. there appears to be two sets of bridge holes, I wonder whether one was a factory alignment error…either way, the holes are in the correct place and the ‘extras’ are covered by a standard bridge. looking to get something near what I paid for it which is £70. Will ship at my cost. Can chuck in the pickguard for an extra £10. Thanks

Kid stuff. When in college my bassplayer (I was lead guitarist, sorry...) asked me to design him a no holds barred cab to house three fifteens. I modified the Jensen Imperial folded horn to fit them. It stood some 6 feet tall, 3 feet wide, 2 feet deep. He made it from 1 inch MDF. We never knew how much it weighed but it took all five of us to lift it in and out of his van. We named it 'The Hulk'. 🫢 Entwistle would have been envious. -

This is sad news. I live in Bristol but I'm from Northumberland so I've frequented the Bristol and Newcastle stores a fair bit and I've spent thousands in both. Jack from Bristol and Gareth from Newcastle both recognised me and made me feel right at home and were helpful but let me get on with trying stuff without hassle. I'd favour buying from PMT over ordering online and the guys always gave me a good deal. Popping in to have a look and a chat (and hopefully buy something if finances allowed) was a proper nice treat for me and will be sorely missed. Newcastle also lost the iconic J. G. Windows store which was a shame as it's been there for many, many years. My very first bass was bought there 34 years ago (Aria Pro II ZZB Deluxe, used one for my 16th birthday). I'm heading back to Newcastle for a few days next after not being up there for a year or so and a trip to Windows and PMT were going to be a highlight so that sucks that both have gone.

It far exceeded my expectations, I can only imagine what the bigger brother can do. Last year I was really struggling for car space, what with the double bass and the Mrs's drums, but after a bit of replanning I can get my larger Markbass combo in now, although it lacks the higher end detail that this little marvel has to be fair .

Why does Thomann take so long to despatch?
jezzaboy replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
To be fair to them, if I order say a bass on a Sunday it`s usually out for delivery on the Thursday. The DHL balls up the final bit of the delivery! -

Why does Thomann take so long to despatch?
NancyJohnson replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Why does it take longer? Logistics. Thomann are a pan-European supplier with a level of instrumentation-supply that (for instance) Andertons or GuitarGuitar can only dream of. I can't honestly imagine how much kit get shipped here weekly, I'd imagine it's mind-boggling. They likely ship enough product to the UK to warrant everything going into containers rather than simply going out on an individual basis, so as @BigRedX has said, Thomann are likely have enough power to assign UK shipments leaving their facility on certain days of the week and coordinating with FedEx/UPS/whoever well in advance of that day to book freight slots to get it to this country. -
