Just back from another outing at the Reivers Sports Bar in Galashiels. A bit quieter than last time but we still had a few folk up and dancing. It was someone's birthday, so the Altered Images song made an unscheduled appearance. This was the first gig since I added the Thumpinator to the pedalboard and it made a hell of a difference. Tone was much more punchy and clear. Deffo money well spent. Rig: Sterling Stingray 5, Eden ETX264 into an Eden 210 cab. Pedals as shown: Footwear by Primani:

Mine neither - it's pretty much gathered dust since this thread was posted. Maybe time to put it back to stock, curb the sentimentality, and find it a new home. - Today

Andrew is an absolute gent to work with. I love my Anaconda custom.

The Piv in Stockingford, Nuneaton has got a great sounding room. The stage is only a step up and plenty big enough. They also sell a very nice cheese and onion cob - we get them as soon as we get there because they go quickly. I took the Sub-5 and it sounded great with the Stinger preamp. I really enjoyed playing it. I did have a tiny crisis of confidence on the doorstep and took my Sire as a backup, as the Sub hasn't been gigged much yet, but the Sire didn't come out of the case. The Sub is noticeably lighter and the neck is slimmer too. I'm really starting to like it. I do need to pop a few washers under the scratch plate though as the knobs are sitting a bit proud. (Note the tasty cob that I scoffed as soon as we finished) It was a little bit quieter than normal as we set up, but did fill out. I guess not everyone is a Eurovision fan, although it was on the TVs silently while we played. None more purple.

Sorry for your loss, but anyway. -
Just home. Pretty flat gig. We sold all the tickets, but not all the purchasers seemed to show up, as it looked light on numbers. Couldn’t really hear myself well, definitely had a few mind blank moments and our drummer wasn’t on his best. Another gig next Sunday afternoon/evening, but not looking forward to that as we’re using a dep drummer.

Went to a gig tonight. Bass player had a Supernatural he's owned for 40 years. I said if someone told me a Jaydee into a Markbass I would have expected super clean funk, but he had a greatn if middley, bluesy growl. -
Springsteen has had a load of grief from Trump. Proves what a sound guy he is, if you ask me. I have a LOT of memories around 'The River'.

Have only just discovered this occurred 😞 saw him there about 18 months ago he still has it!
-
Yes. Not unusual a century ago! What glorious engraving. But the tuners are totally insane!

Welcome Summer. -
I think what they were saying though is that the model has infinite headroom so no matter how much you push the input it will just get louder until digital clipping which isn't fun. Are you sure its the SVT that is getting creamy or is it the overdrive? Not meaning to be pedantic, just genuinely curious as I do tend to like a little more grit!

I visited London Guitar Studio recently and played an Alhambra entry level electro-classical which was pretty good. Definitely worth a visit. I ended up buying a used Raimundo from eBay for about the same price. It was in perfect condition, and is a step up from a Yamaha I bought used for £50. As with all guitars, I think Yamaha are good at all price points. One bit of advice I was given is that poor technique can be amplified by a top quality instrument!

Only 400 of these were built, so their rarity affects the price. Also, these are set neck, not neck through like the "regular" Birds. I almost bought one while I resided in the States. It would've been a cool addition to my modest Gibson collection, but honestly not much more than that. -

Well, I do not drive it extremely, just to get it creamy. I don't fancy distorted bass that much. Just a bit of attitude.

I have got to keep my neb out of Facebook Marketplace. But it was too sparkly, and only 2 and a half hours away in the car. May I present this Burny (Fernandes) LSB-80 I just bought, simply because it was there, and I fancied it. I have plans for this bass. It's had a life, and it's been modded already (active stuff it would have originally come with is long gone, for example), so I'm going to be making some changes. It's not bad as is, but I think I can make it more to my liking. It plays really well (previous owner did a banging job of setting it up, recrowning frets etc) and it seems solidly made. Developments to come, stay tuned...

Love that band jacket. Daryl

Thanks Dave, Next week we have our first outside gig for the year. It's more of a festival crowd. I'm hoping we redeem ourselves. Daryl

Seen him a few times but not for over 20 years so fingers crossed. The E Street Band are one of the best bands I’ve ever witnessed, and I’m a massive Steve Van Zandt fan too so expecting a good show. The superb Eddie Manion on baritone sax as well, another favourite from The Asbury Jukes.

This is the board I tend to use for rehearsals.
-
It'd be interesting to hear how you get on with overdriving the SVT, the post I read was that the model didn't distort like the real amp and just clipped.

Hello - Im based in Chicago - though I spend a lot of time in the UK - and have decided to join this forum. I’m newly learning bass, wanting to make sure I learned enough to make my father proud while I could. He passed away on Wednesday, and was a legend bassist. (Corky Holbrook; bassist for Billy Ray Cyrus) With some of my parting words to him on Tuesday, I told him I’d track down his missing bass, his prized possession that was stolen from his studio in 2014. Now I know this is a UK based site, and his studio was in Kentucky (USA) but I’ll put the details of it here, and perhaps someone might know how to track down missing things. Very nice to meet you all. Before Andrew started making basses under the name Anaconda he made other basses like this amazing Ostinato Jazz bass that I bought from the Bass Gallery in 2010. Emg pickups. Aguilar OBP2, Alder body Olivewood top. It was a fantastic instrument.
