A brilliantly fresh arrangement of Tito Puente's #Oye Como Va, this Hans Glawischnig bass part comer from the 2004 album by percussionist Paolo Meijas, 'Mi Tambor'. Some really creative ideas in here showing us what great musicians can do with 'standards' by completely reworking them. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/oye-como-va-paolo-meijas/

I am selling my Barefaced Super Compact bass cabinet. Price is £475. I bought the cab on this forum from @FinnDave in March 2024. Condition is excellent, just some slight cosmetic damage to the handle. It is a 1x12 cabinet, with a silver cloth grill. The cab is rated at 600w / 8 ohm. Cover is included. These are incredible cabs, and super-light. I am only selling because I have subsequently bought more Barefaced cabs! Collection preferred. Not looking for trades. Thanks

So while I'm waiting for the neck bolts to arrive I might as well do a bit of tidying up. The bottom front edge of the bass had taken some nasty damage to the laminations - but all easily fixable. I sawed down some birch ply down to one lamination and let it in with hide glue and then scraped with a cabinet scraper. I'm not worried about small gaps and visibly repaired cracks - I'll mix some fine powder birch sawdust with glue and fill the cracks. Okay the finish is buggered in this area ... I could touch it in - but I'm leaning towards a full refinish. The end pin hole had been reamed out massively and was also at the wrong taper for the new endpin - it nearly fell into the bass! So I made and glued in a liner from thin mahogany stock And I'm using the incredibly slow method of bedding the endpin into the hole by double stick taping sandpaper around the pin ... it works well and is way cheaper than an end pin reamer - still got some to go! I've ordered an ebony saddle to replace this ... er ... 'wood' one 🙂

Only bought this a couple of weeks ago from another Basschat member, given it a run out at a couple of rehearsals but just isn’t my kind of sound so I’m listing it back up for what I paid for it. Rat based distortion with bass and treble eq controls, can do the lower gain thing but really shows what it can do at higher gain sounds. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers!

Bought this December 2023 with the intention of having a smaller bass to noodle on around the house and take to small gigs but I never really bonded with it. It’s a brilliant little bass that’s really well made and sounds great but I could just never really get on with the size, taking this as a sign that short scales just aren’t for me! I paid around £350 for the bass and £110 for the hard case so listing both for around £270. There’s a small scratch/chip/mark on the lower horn that I’ve tried to photograph best I can. Collection from Portsmouth or happy to meet within a reasonable distance, would prefer to avoid posting if possible. Cheers!

I've just come into possession of this: I think it's from the 1970's, and it has one missing cone and one dead cone, which, given the 4ohm impedance and paltry 160w rating, I'm not surprised about. I'd like to fit some new speakers to it and give it a bit of a spruce up. I have heard it in action, years ago, and from what I could tell it sounded pretty reasonable, so if I can get it up and running again it might be fun. I have the mesh grille and all the fixings, but the one 15" speaker I have won't fit in the hole in the baffle, annoyingly. I'm not sure at present whether this is because the speaker's chassis is too big or the hole is undersized; I suspect some research may well be due. If anyone has any info or insight into these cabs then I'm all ears. Cheers, JRK

I’ve seen them range from 7.2lbs to 8lbs, and for me 7.5lbs would be my limit. The impetuous side of me is tempted to order one but then the faff of returning if too heavy brings me back to reality.

Is each bass in a model range not all the same weight or do they have variations. Is it not listed on the Sandberg website. ? Have to admit i generally go to the company website first rather than ask a shop. Don't think i trust shops to give me a definitive answer. Dave

For me - no point whatsoever, I don’t get on with them. I miss the fatness of a P, and jiggling the volume controls just annoys me rather than producing any worthwhile tones. For people who enjoy them - they are the bee’s knees, cat’s pyjamas, dog’s danglies etc. And that’s fine of course - use what works for you.

Marshall DBS7400 were excellent amps, used to pair mine with the Marshall VBC412 cab. -
Mine was rewired by Martin Nash (RIP) who was on here some years ago. Martin and I became friends via a lot of Shergold and Hayman dealings and email chats. I bought the bass from eBay from the original owner’s widow. When I opened it up to have a look in the control cavity I found a note and wiring diagram…..from Martin! Must have been fate - I told the original owner’s wife who was amazed at the coincidence. She also told me her husband had been in a Joy Division/New Order tribute and that the bass had been played by Hooky at a local gig. Here’s a pic of Martin’s diagram…

I'm still using my Marshall 90's rig for large shows with 1 or 2 410s (dependant on how far I have to carry them lol) It sounds absolutely immense and the 7400 dbs is the only head I've found that can deal with a wah pedal properly. For smaller shows I use a TC bh250 and 410, but it does lack some of the heft (LOL) of the Marshall. I used to have a Hartke LH500 which was great, but I never really got on with the eq
