  1. Past hour
  2. Great, merge Evri (formally MyHerpes) with D!ck Heads Limited. What could possibly go wrong?
  3. This is silly money for SUCH a great head. Shame these heads with proper iron don't get the right price in the market imo. Best of luck with the sale. Someone's gonna grab a steal.
  4. What a stunning bass. Did it sell??
  5. Ok, this doesn't look like me at all:
  6. As some original are too. Look my previous posts above.
  7. I wonder what effect this merger with DHL will have: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwywd2wzxp2o Probably not an improved service...
  8. For sale is my wonderful Mark Bass stack. These are the full fat cabs - not the traveller or lower end cabs. STD 102 HF, 8ohm, 400W STD 151 HF, 8ohm, 400W I bought this rig new in 2013 when I was playing in a few wedding/function bands as well as doing rock and alternative and gigging once or twice a weekend. I then retired from gigging for health reasons around 2015 and it was dry (and warm) stored until 2022 when I started using it for the odd gig with my original band, 300ft Gorilla - we average about one gig a year! As you can see from my pictures, it is in mint condition - no tears, no scuffs, carpet is good - I really look after my gear. It comes with fitted roqsolid covers to keep it looking as nice as it is now. I love the sound of this rig - it covers every genre effortlessly and as I write this, I'm getting the feeling that I might regret selling it if I start playing more again. It's also lightweight - I can carry a cab in each hand, and has great build quality as you would expect from Mark Bass. It has not been messed around with - the covers have never been off and it's still on the original speakers. Selling as I could do with the space at home and for transporting and as I only do rock, I'm moving to a lightweight Ampeg 410. Price is firm as I really am happy to keep hold of it, collection only. Any test/demo is welcome o
  9. That C4 there is a processor tho 🙃
  10. Then here is a picture of my modular red IEC cable setup that I interconnect depending on the length that I need. (I have about 4 of these)
  11. Oh I meant the faceplate. The edges retracted... it looks better live than on this pic 😂
  12. Hi Juice, I'm still interested in buying one ticket if you are willing to sell one on it's own?
  13. Hi all I am selling this pack of 5 x brand new and unused Van Damme patch cables. Each cable is 30cm in length from connector to connector. Cable is Van Damme Classic XKE instrument - tough as nails and more robust than the equivalent patch cable. Connectors are low profile pancake-style TS mono jacks. Will not split, selling as a lot of 5 cables for £40 plus £3 UK P&P Thanks! Danny
  14. getting the bar in via the f-holes shouldn't be too difficult if you use the string method (similar to getting pots and jack sockets into hollow bodied guitars,) drop a string into the hole in the neck pocket and then fish it out through the f-hole, then run it through the threaded hole in the bar and tie a stop knot, a string through each M8 hole should allow you to pull the nutplate into position so it can be fixed with the m5 screw. of course if the profile isn't nice and square inside then the block becomes more difficult to shape, but once the block is in place you shouldn't ever need to remove it so the access panel wouldn't be required. Engineering runs in our family too, my Paternal grandfather was an engineer and my brother was also an engineer before he moved into computing. (the other side of the family is all fairly practical too, mostly in various manufacturing industries.) I've married an engineer and our son is showing pretty good technical abilities at age 8. Matt
  15. Monster. I’ve had three of these. Heavy and unforgiving but outrageously powerful and authoritative. IMO, the finest bass amp ever built. Almost ridiculous to try to describe tone in words but there’s a sort of 3D quality to the DB750. Nasty to shift but an absolute classic. The big Ampegs and Mesas can be beautiful but for me, the DB750 achieved a different level
  16. Another Markbass user here - specifically the Mini CMD 121P IV combo on top of a New York 121 cab. Best rig I've ever owned. I don't know about the "high end rolloff" been mentioned - the NY121 has a tweeter, and it's controllable, so if you like some highs, crank up the tweeter? Fair enough if you're chasing some purity of sound and 1:1 unfiltered, uncoloured output, you do you. Me, I just want a "good" sound - I define what "good" means to me and I just crack on with it. The rig I have sounds "good" to me, it's eminiently portable (can take one cube in each hand in/out of the venue) and they both fit (just) in the boot of my relatively small car. Happy as a pig in sharn, I am. I've also gone the opposite way round and used a few different heads with the Markbass NY121 cab (specifically a Tecamp Pump 900 and a TC Electronic BH250) and the cab handled them both with aplomb (obviously I didn't crank the Puma 900 up to its higher power capabilities - 600W into a 400W cab doesn't sound like a great idea to me!)
  17. Handy footswitch to give you FS4 and FS5 on a Helix HX Stomp or similar. Needs a TRS cable to connect Unit is velcroed and in good condition. Selling as I’ve moved to an expression pedal. UK Postage included
  18. If you haven't tried already, I'd recommend listing on TheFretboard UK forum (it's free) - Polite community and several of the longstanding members have S2s as their No. 1.
  19. That looks beyond lush. GLWTS
  20. So tempted by this, just need to find £600 from somewhere. lol
  21. Bought brand new back in December 2023, features all the bells and whistles you’d expect from the GK stable - 4 band EQ, contour switch (for scooped mids) and boost switch. I’ve used it a fair bit this year, but the only issue with it is something was dropped on it at some point, denting one of the rear corners. Doesn’t affect the sound or the structure of the casing, so otherwise it is in great condition. It has recessed side handles and casters attached which are easily removed, and comes with a custom made padded cover made by HotCovers. These retail for around £1100 new (without the cover), looking to shift it pretty rapidly as I have gigs pending, so the asking price is £700. I am open to sensible offers…. Selling because it’s too big for my needs. Located on the Isle of Wight, but can meet at any of our ferry ports (Portsmouth/Southampton/Lymington/Southsea) for collection. I can also personally deliver for an additional £50 to cover my ferry fare, within a sensible distance, London or an equivalent location distance wise would probably be my limit. Thanks for looking. 😊

  23. That's a super elegant solution - and I may yet go for that (especially if I cut an access panel in the cutaway, as the only other way of getting it in would be via an F hole. If you don't mind me saying this - and it's a compliment - that's the sort of solution my father would have come up with - apprenticed in the REME and finally a Staff Sergeant instructor - before finishing his time (I think it was 21 years back then) and joining Westland on the Black Knight and Black Arrow rocket projects (and launching the Prospero satellite) - and moving on to British Hovercraft - before being made redundant and buying a hardware shop! The only issue I see is I'm not super convinced the heel block doesn't taper towards the bottom slightly ... of course that would mean that the drilling angle on the plate might not be exactly 90 degrees. I shall do a bit more measurement and find out. PS my grandad was an engineer too - my dad used to say he'd be surprised if lathe cutting lubricant didn't run in my veins. As it happens though I wound up as a feckless musician - though all that changed when I started my pickup manufacturing business fifteen years ago - now I design music electronics - so a bit light on the full on enginearing practise these days 🙂
  24. Not sure i could ever sell my 89 Thumb that i bought new in early 1990. Such a wonderful bass to play and mine never leaves the house these days but its a keeper. As already mentioned the necks on these basses are sublime and those EMG's are simply one of the best pick ups i've ever had on a bass. I think the original owner has safeguarded his pick up with a bit of tape as i've seen some well used ones where the pick up has dulled at the top edge where the thumb tends to rest or maybe it was simply for comfort. GLWTS Dave
  25. Traded my Wayne Jones Powered cab for PJB combo at opposite ends of country, great communications and superbly packed transaction😊
  26. I think that's a bit out of date now... 1. No longer true for all services. Of the main streaming services Spotify is now the only one that doesn't offer an option for a format without lossy compression. However how important is that? I do much of my streaming listening in the car where the audio has to compete with all the noises of the road and driving. When I originally ripped all my CDs in the early 2000s for use with my iPod and HiFi, I spent several evenings deciding on the best format to use and decided that under most listening conditions I couldn't tell the difference between the original CD and a 320BR MP3. I suspect that most streaming listening is done in far worse acoustic environments. 2. What does this actually mean? When you buy a CD the only thing you actually own is the piece of plastic that the music is encoded onto. The music itself is just licensed. If it's a CDR rather than a glass-mastered replicated CD, you may find that your piece of plastic is no longer playable after less than 10 years. Then it's just a piece of plastic with hopefully a nice design on one side. 3. It could be argued that CD artwork is but a pale imitation of what you would get if you bought the same thing on vinyl. It also depends on how good the sleeve design is anyway. I have plenty of CDs and vinyl where the packaging adds little or no artistic benefit to the listener. I've also got some with fancy packaging that is actually an impediment to listening to the music. PiL's Metal Box (vinyl) and Scissor Sisters Ta-Dah (CD in a box) spring to mind. 4. Personally I like the algorithms. I like the way that when an album I've been streaming on Apple Music comes to an end the algorithm will play me more songs in a similar style. I've discovered several new bands this way.
