  2. Wow, I’ve been thinking about getting a 5/er Precision and they are few and fat between, and that is stunning 👍
  3. A rare opportunity to acquire this beautiful bass in good, almost unplayed condition. I purchased it privately in mid 70's, intending to play it in a rock band but moved to folk music and what with one thing and another it has sat unused ever since. Genuine Ricky double truss rod. Some dings from being bumped and a bit of crazing of the varnish on the body due to age. Minimal wear on the frets. Photos taken September 2025. Comes with a basic custom made hard case and I can throw in a RokSac. Prefer to transact in public space, cash payment, will check notes with counterfeit money checker. If buyer needs delivery then it will be at cost, non refundable. Sorry but I've been scammed once and now am more cautious.
  4. I have and use several different ACS plugs and IEMs - I have a custom set for sleeping, and those can sometimes result in me waking up in the night due to one of them causing the ear to hurt. I do think it's probably the nature of shoving relatively inflexible things into your ears that they'll start to ache after a while, as the plugs aren't going to move as much or will move differently to your ears over time. I second the comfort cream recommendation; the only downside for me is the ACS stuff is so expensive. There was a product called 'Auragel' which was perfect, but it seems the company that manufactured it went bust so it's no longer available. On alternative I had recommended to me is Otoferm, but I absolutely hate the smell of it, and it has triggered something like the eczema @MacDaddy mentions above. I'm in the process of trying alternatives still so will report back if I find anything that works.
  5. My experience with the two band EQ Ibby preamp is that it is horrible! Far too aggressive and it will amp up any single coil buzz. Shielding always helps with jazz pickups but I reckon it is worth spending about £100 on a Glockenlang two band replacement. It is much more civilised, transparent, has a passive mode, is pre-wired and is pretty well a drop in replacement for the Ibby OEM junk. Otherwise go passive but by the time you have bought 4 decent pots, caps, etc and paid to have them wired up, you will be well on your way to the price of a Glockenlang preamp. Other two band replacement preamps are available of course.
  6. 3.845 on my kitchen scale I have someone coming to see it tonight. Will let you know if he doesn't show up. Thanks
  7. I've sometimes had an issue when using plugs pushes earwax onto the eardrum and it hurts like hell. Try a couple of drops of olive oil into your ear overnight for 5 days and if that doesn't sort it go and get your ears syringed.
  8. I have used a capo from time to time on a 5 string. The only downside is the thickness of strings, you’ll need a capo with a strong spring, probably not a Shubb.
  9. It may be worth getting your ears checked for eczema. Even if you've never had it, it can occur in later life and in the ear canal.
  10. I have this set up on my main board (DC7 and 8 expander), works like a charm.
  11. didnt video much of me it seems bit more here
  12. In good used condition (with a few superficial scratches on the front). Comes in/with original box and packaging. Happy to post at buyers expense, and can even deliver locally - but collection preferred.
  13. Bought this from TomJbass on here just last month and although it's a stellar jazz it's just that tad heavy for me - it's just over 9.5lbs (i played an 11lbs jazz for 17 years) ever since i fell of my bike and did my shoulder, though it's well balanced, after 2 hours it's starting to pull on my upper back - seems to have got worse with age. So sadly going to let some younger buck or doe(?) have the pleasure - that's the bad for me here's the good. Apart from looking absolutely stunning...What a neck! well done Mr Clayton on your custom shape - so ergonomic, and the gloss feels like glass - played a very sweaty gig on Saturday and a very wet festival the week before and had zero issues with sticking. Glides - frets are great too - dont feel a thing. BUT by far the best thing are these 60s custom shop pickups - noiseless and full of oomph - with a nordy mute and just the neck pup, it's Jamerson central - the bridge is more quiet, but is crystal, i did make the bridge pup a bit further from the strings to fit my taste as was too barky for me as was, you could raise for more bite. Together though neck full and bridge 60% is by far the best sounding and feeling jazz i've had. Pictured here with tort pick, comes with original antique white pearl guard. Strap locks and gotoh butterbean tuners (original not with original purchase) - There is one small ding (pictured) but has been looked after since new by tom. Have done set up, oiled neck and strung with D'Addario flats with great low action. No buzzes just great articulate notes. All case candy too. If this was 8lbs it would be the one for me - the plan is to copy as much as poss on my lighter jazz (pups, tuners, etc) also have another lighter bass inbound - so grab a bargain - just seen Fender have put these up again to £2539! Price inc postage to UK only - comes in case. Can knock off a few quid for pic up. Feel free if you want to come to Clitheroe to have a bash. Can be heard on several videos from this guy from Saturday
  14. I tried that bass-spinning lark but as soon as the bass passed through the reversed position and the strings touched/brushed my fingers/hand that killed the notes of course. I thought it might be a matter of technique but if that's the case then I haven't found which method is reliably successful. Spinning end-over-end doesn't work at all. I know that now.
  15. This is a 2012 Squier CV jazz in Olympic white. Generally good condition but with a few scuffs / blemishes, the worst of which is a small section of the poly finish that has chipped off the headstock. Absolute great playing and sounding jazz. No issues at all with its functionality. Interestingly, the rosewood board has a bit of light flame in it (picture attempted). Weight is 4.1kg. Price includes uninsured (likely Parcelforce) shipping within the UK. I have a budget soft case I can include for shipping. The bass will be well packaged. Otherwise trial / collection in Cardiff welcome. Feedback here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/192340-feedback-for-woolf/#comment-1873696
  16. What, one, and one only?
  17. Today
  18. Well I can report the MB58R cabs stack nicely vertically or horizontally! yeah I know the logos are not the right way round but it sounds awesome
  19. It’s a great bass had since they first came out , but I bought an Atelier z 4 string and it has become the only bass I’m paying now . Thanks for the comments guys
  20. Apologies, I wasn't sure of the protocol.
  21. IME Hohner are terrible at record keeping when it comes to all the various musical instruments they have made. I used to own an electric 12 string guitar that hasn't appeared in any of their catalogues or model lists. If I did an on-line search based on the model name and number on the headstock it came up with an entirely different looking instrument. However, there are various features that indicated that it had been built that way originally and hadn't been "Frankensteined" together from a couple of other guitars by a previous owner. Also I was aware that there was at least one other similar example owned by a well-known guitarist. So don't be put off if you can't find your exact model listed anywhere.
  22. Thanks all, I’m not worried too much but it is a hassle. Let’s hope it goes smoothly 😕
  23. For sale is my TC Electronic GMajor-2 multi effects unit in fully working condition and updated to the latest firmware. Pictures show it in its usual rack home (rack not included). Although most of the standard effects are aimed at the guitarist I have found the compressor, gate, flanger, phaser and octaver (up and down) etc. to be very useable for bass. I can either factory reset before shipping or leave the presets I have created intalled. It has built in EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverbs, delays, wahs, octaver, tremolo, phaser, flanger etc each of which can be switched in / out from the front panel as required. I have been using this via my amps effects loop and found the compressor (and all the effects) just add their effect without changing the fundamental sound of the bass. Comes with original box and operating manual. You can use the unit in your DAW as well as with your bass / guitar etc. Patches can be easily selected from the front panel or attach a midi-pedal (I used a MidiMoose). There is also some Vyzor software you can download from the net which allows you to interface your PC with the GMajor-2 to edit and backup your user patches. I have also attached the GMajor-2 and Vyzor manuals below. tc_electronic_g-major_2_manual_english.pdfVyzor_G-Major2_Quick-Start.pdf I estimate UK shipping about £10 to £15.

  24. 1 rack unit is gone so the only one left is the lower one in the photos. For sale is my used but not abused EMS 500 19" rack case. The rack is currently assembled as 6U but can be reconfigured as 3U, 6U simply by removing some bolts and panels - 10 min job! You can also configure it so the top removes for mixers. The rack is currently assembled to a board with castors which isn't included in the sale and will be removed before shipping.........unless you really, really want it and then it would be an extra £20 and whatever the increased postage is. These are quite special cases as they are modular construction where you can increase or decrease the number of rack spaces by easily adding or removing side and end panels. All you need is an allen key! You can also use them with a mixer installed in the top and the top panel can be easily removed! See the photo of how I had the units set up for my band PA. (None of the rack equipment is included.) All catches etc are in good condition. Rack to rack depth is 48cm. Weight per 6U assembly is 18lbs / 8.2kg. See the attached brochure for more details. The 6U Gator version of this case weighs 13lbs so slightly lighter but is NOT as rigid, road resilient or has the flexiblity options. As these are modular I would propose they are dismantled and flat packed for shipping to reduce the cost. I'll give details on how to re-assemble if you need but its quite straight forward. I've estimated UK postage to be £15 per unit. 6U Rack Unit 2 - the lower 6U rack unit in the photos on its own - £90 / Board with castors - £20 / Both together £100. Shipping Extra EMS.pdf
  25. In the last 35 years I bought a total of 3 basses that I tried before parting with my cash. The fact that I don't own any of them now, but do own 3 basses that I bought on-line either direct from the manufacturer or off eBay without being able to play them first should say something. IME it is impossible to make a proper decision about the suitability of an instrument until you have put it to its intended use. If you play in a band that means at least one rehearsal and ideally one gig.
