I'm looking at replacing the pickups on my Indonesian made Fender Standard Jazz. I am looking at at a Fender vintage 62 set. Will these fit? I know some replacement P ups need a bit of jiggling to fit the cavities.

Price drop to £80! High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a GigRig QMX4 or QMX6 involved.

Laney Nexus Tube & Nexus 8x10 with Flight Case...
idestroynic replied to binky_bass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
This is so funny, I've just found this thread and that you're all discussing this - I'm the seller and the head has sold (sold for cheap as I need the space). I have a Laney endorsement and it was hardly used tbh so I'm happy to have sold it to someone that will use it ! The cab is still available if anyone wants to make an offer though. -
I've also been following the DG Anagram thread, and a little gobsmacked at the price differential between the two products ie circa £875 vs £300 new. I'm loving the GX10, but is the Anagram really an order of magnitude better to justify the step up in price?! I think a couple of you guys on this thread have owned both, so I'd be very interested in your opinion on this? Reminds me of a time when I owned a DG M900 v2 and Bugera Veyron 1001M with similar price differential. In the end, I really couldn't justify holding onto the DG amp - there was very little in it between the two products.

Last two things available: Aion Lab Series L4 £95 posted Fairfield Shallow Water clone in 125b £160 posted some wee pricedrops there -wasn't really intending to drop the price on the Shallow Water clone as I like it a lot - I dunno if I updated the decription but it's not got a nice DC jack on it at the right size (!) and I rebaised the bucket brigade chip so it sounds lovely.

I have just sent mine back It was an amazing bit of kit, but after spending a bit of time with it I came to the conclusion that it was just overkill for my needs.

I'm aware of a couple of folks in a band who have integrated psychedelics into their creative process. But the thing is, they're all talented players who are committed to experimentation. Better music isn't the emergent outcome - I don't think the mushrooms make them magically better players! But perhaps it opens up certain avenues of thought that otherwise might be elusive. My friends found that it wasn't so much the trip itself, but the reflection afterwards where any creatively potent insights took place. Now as for me, I need to be fully in control of my faculties to play even at the best of times, so we can't have anything which interferes with the synapses. What use is a bass if your hands might refuse to work?

I have been listening to Planet Rock's top 500 since this morning. It's the top 500 as voted by the listeners. Clearly some bands will appear more than once. Currently playing Sad But True by Metallica which is on 435th place.

Back to DIY modification of a cheap donor bronco or Mustang? A set of Tone Rider the Duke J pickups costs £65, plus a bit of P&P. If you are handy with a router, you are laughing. Just need a custom pickguard made, or even DIY it. I would be tempted to have a crack, if I didn't have J bass so well covered already. . -

I wonder how common these are with the original two cap electronics because the noise is low and the output is pretty strong. I’m using the same preamp settings as my Mustang and the level is only slightly less, and there’s no weakness in the bass register - quite the opposite. I wonder if the ‘weedy’ reputation is because most people play them through beginner rigs? Or used to? -

This just arrived! I’m letting it warm up before I do a bit of a setup and clean. I couldn’t resist plugging it in - it’s going to be great fun. The circuit is original and therefore very dark - about like a P bass with the tone at 20%, when the tone on the Musicmaster is at max! Due to this there’s very little rf noise. It’s getting some heavy flats this afternoon! -
Apart from Statins, these days I don't know anyone who takes drugs. That wasn't always the case. Rock was all about excess and if you did it properly it was fun, although many didn't know when enough was enough and some died as a result, the 27 Club for example. The sensible ones just got high and didn't overdo it. I only ever saw one guy on hard drugs, an American keys player in my first pro band. We arrived in Amsterdam and he managed to find someone selling coke before the rest of us had even got out of the van!! The secret was to have a good time on joints and beer.

Yep, back in the late 80s my then band were recorded for an ITV show. The footage of the other band that played that night went out, ours didn`t. When I saw it I realised why. We were dreadful, those "pints that made us play better" really let us down that night.

Boss GT 1000 / Core & GX100 / 10 Users - Patches and Ideas

I know I keep banging on about it but if you’re not finding the breakup to your liking you could set up the gain/output like you have with the expression pedal but assign to input level instead. I found it difficult to get a subtle breakup when digging in with out making the tone too dirty sometimes so that would give you a little more dynamic control over it. Because it’s tied to device input you don’t need to worry too much about compressor placement either. -

Sorry, realised I didn't actually directly answer your question! I think the reason you couldn't really do this is that you would essentially be connecting your two expression control pots simultaneously, in parallel. This might initially seem like a good idea - you could then set the control pots as required to get any desired mixture of envelope and external expression control - nice idea, eh? There's a problem though: if you set one of them to maximum and the other to minimum, you would be shorting the 5v expression voltage directly to ground through the wipers of the two pots - bad! With some tweaking to the circuit I'm sure this could be made to work, but it would require someone a bit more competent at electronics than me to figure it out 😄
