Most of the time the second cab only takes up additional vertical space. It also has the advantage of raising the upper cab closer to your ears where it is doing some good for being heard rather than your knees.

Why are venue house bass amps always such utter sh#te?
BigRedX replied to Paddy Morris's topic in Amps and Cabs
Every band I've been in for the last 15+ years we send the singer off to do promotional and fan duties while the rest of the band clears the stage and packs up including any equipment the singer might have. I see both audience engagement and good stage manners as being equally important, so I'm happy to clear and pack a bit of extra equipment if I know that at the same time someone from the band is keeping the punters happy and maybe even getting us more gigs as a result. -

I can't begin to understand the science, maybe it's down to coincidence... When I had an Ashdown Routmaster set up I preferred their 15" cabs over their 2x10s. I had both at the same time. So for me I've just sort of stuck to 15s, though a Trace Elliot 2x10 combo sounds stunning. This morning I just picked up a 4x10 cab because I like the idea of having only one cab in my office rather than 2x 15s... Now someone is going to tell me that will make no difference whatsoever... But it will, one box takes up less space than two.

This is what i do for my IEM mix. We use one reverb for FOH, and a separate one for IEM mixes. I have a bit on the bass and a bit more on the vocals. While we can just have the reverb to FOH or IME, or both, i prefer to keep the two separate. I prefer a shorter reverb in the IEM mix.

Assuming I used a provided cab I could, before my back issues, clear my gear off stage in less than 3 minutes which included putting the bass in it`s case, curling up leads properly and putting tuner & preamp pedal in their respective boxes. Just a case of having a set method of breakdown and sticking to it. It is difficult when people are wanting to chat whilst you`re trying to do this, or have a signed set-list, get a photo taken etc but as long as you`re polite and say "be with you in 5, gotta clear the stage for the next band" they`re usually happy with that. -
That very much depends on the mixer - some will let you do this, some won't. I've worked with both; it does add another layer of faffing before the gig (tho this can be reduced by saving scenes, etc), so it's all about On The Day. Another example of this is stereo monitor feeds: my inear setup will do stereo, but I've yet to convince a BL to give me two channels and send them to a stereo out...

OK organ fans. I play organ, very, very slowly and then bring the speed back up in Logic on my tracks, which the world is not ready for. I went to watch Delvon Lamarr in the interest of research (and grooviness) and was amazed at how "messy" (for the want of a better word, and looking at it through piano playing eyes) his technique was. Of course, it was superb and worked flawlessly for what he was doing. I stress again that I was looking through the eyes of a very poor pianist. So I adopted this into my Hammond playing and it worked. Barbara seems to be pumping the vol pedal rhythmically. This is a Hammond thing?

That would be the ideal gig.

14kg? That's fantastic. I believe my current 15" cab is 37kg which is why it's just for my practice space. But a portable 15" would be interesting... We were just talking about winning the lottery last night and I said one of the 'life changing' things I'd do was hire a roadie with a van to arrange for my gear to be ready for me at every gig, bass tuned, etc. so I just have to turn up and walk on stage.

Is that green or charcoal grey, Si? It's very nice whichever. So essentially a passive J configuration on the MM- inspired body shape, by the looks of it. What pickups have you gone with? I'm a big fan of Lakland's own pickups myself. I think they're very underrated.

I do like that. A good old EQ6 and is that an 80mm cell? Looks like a Canon and a Zwo (?). What's the box on the Canon hidden behind the focuser? Looks like a peltier cooler or something similar. Interested to know why it's on the side, though must be a good reason. Rob

Chester Thompson - As well as his Tower of Power and Santana days, he has been on the road with his own bands and trios: And I was going to mention his solo @14:00 on this live TOP gig, when Rocco drops out, leaving Chester and the Pedals. But all the shenanigans are good!!

NBD: Fender American Vintage II 60's Precision.
lowendgalore replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in Bass Guitars
Many thanks for the nod! Appreciated. They're expensive enough, especially when the Vintera 60's exist. I know they're not nitro, but they're half the price.... Cool. What was it you didn't like about the pickup? I assume the neck/playability/fit and finsih all check the boxes? What weight is yours? Cool - I think I'd be good with the vintage pickup...how does it score at the vintage thing in your experience? I would pop some la bella flats on there too most likely... If there are any around anyone is looking to sell... -
Musicman Stingray - Such a love/hate relationship

Maybe the heavy bass response of a Stingray needs to travel out into the room to make sense? -

I’m in general not that concerned with speaker sizes but a few years back used an Ashdown 2x15 and it was really good, in fact it was using that cab that made me switch to Ashdown gear.
