  4. Yeah I was always sceptical when I saw the competitions. Took a punt and won!
  5. Go for it!! Best of luck for the rest of the treatment
  6. From what I've been reading recently, there have been a few other members who have added them into their orders from thomann so I'm sure we'll find out before long. Who knows, they could become the Sue Ryder of bass strings 😄
  7. Your life would be so much richer if you stuck to four Owen 🤣 Or poorer, depending on which way you look at it

  10. Open to offers/trades - I'll be travelling up to the Midlands tomorrow and London/SE in another couple of weeks if that helps.

  13. I've gone the opposite way again. I used Chromes for years on everything then decided around 2017 that I no longer liked the sound so started using D'addario nickels as they are very smooth. I switched to Hybrid Slinkies in 2022 and have been using them ever since. I have still been having issues with my basses balancing the way that I want them to since I lost weight so decided to resurrect my Harley Benton JB75. I haven't weighed it but it's pretty heavy being one of the natural ones. I've got a set of EMGs, BTS system and Hipshot Ultralites fitted - all of which I already had. Plus I had routed the body for the battery when I was using it previously. I had already parked my Chromes on this bass when I stopped using them so decided to leave them on and I must say that I am loving the sound through my preamp pedal and IEMs so I'm going to use it this weekend, I also have a sets of EB and Harley Benton flats so may try these out if I like it this weekend
  14. Hi Steve,ah you'd already seen it,no worries. I have no personal experience with these but remember hearing that the price difference between them was entirely justified. Hopefully someone who knows more can chime in. It's interesting how Andertons rate the condition of their used basses. I'm in London so able to pop in quite easily and I tried the AFR5 in person which was rated a 3/5 and I couldn't really see a mark anywhere on it. My only hesitation is whether or not it's "my" sound. Good luck with the search. At least they're popping up somewhat.
  15. PMT did have their own "Antiquity" brand. I played one and it seemed like a really decent instrument, especially for the money. They just never got much of an internet buzz around them.
  16. What an absolute bargain! Still got mine and refer to it as the ‘Rolls Royce’ for obvious reason that it’s just simply class. I remember A/Bing it against a MB LMT before a gig last year and the difference was night and day…the Eden had ‘heft’ (there you go I’ve said it 😳)and I gigged it with a big smile being able to really feel the bass coming out my speakers. Will be gigging mine again in a few weeks, can’t wait. I agree, one of the best amps ever made along with the Eden WT800’s.
  17. It’s a competitively priced indulgence. I’m going to fire it up later and get some pictures of the LEDs and so on. There is no sadness if it remains here, but I believe it’s made to ramble on.
  18. I went to an OM. It was totally dead. The host was nowhere in sight so I hung around for ten minutes and gave up. The landlady told me it hadn’t gone well. As I was leaving a young lady at a table near the door said she’d wished I’d got to play (she obviously hasn’t heard me or she wouldn’t make such a ridiculous claim). I said that sadly bass is not a solo instrument and other people are needed, unfortunately not the case tonight. Her blank look at the word “bass” told me everything I needed to know about perceptions of our instrument but it was nice that she said it. someone I presumed to be the host scuttled into view at that moment and headed for the om area, he didn’t see me though he passed within a metre or so. I hope the landlady had a word about not deserting his post
  19. Whole Lottery Love - Led Zeppelin
  20. These are underrated! The low and high controls are super handy on bass 👌
  21. So did I, Dave, just to be sure!! 😁
