  1. Past hour
  2. I have only used the cab at home but sounds really nice so far. Nice top end and good response, but think I’d like another one or a 15 to go with it for gigs so I’m not pushing it too hard. I play in a 7 piece with brass, so a lot to fight through.
  3. Great pedal in used condition but working perfectly. With manual and box. Price includes uk mainland postage. Price drop so now £60 posted.
  4. There’s quite a few shops here that I often have a look through, some in Europe too
  5. Mick Jagger had his own doubts about it thirty years ago: -- interview in Rolling Stone magazine, 1995
  6. Downtown Lights, by The Blue Nile. The bass part is robotic (prolly a synth) and surprisingly hard.
  7. I would let him/her use my bass, provided they did not have a large buckle. If they did then that would have to come off or shirt untucked. But I would also have a quiet word with them afterwards and say that it is VERY bad manners to assume you can play someone else's instrument. I would also quietly enjoy watching them try to play a 35" 5 string..
  8. Chris Chaney is a killer player. Obviously it's always good to see the original line up but I can't imagine it being disappointing to see him play. Loved the one album he did with them too.
  9. If the church is so large you don't know the other bass players in the church I would expect they bring their own and you take yours with you (and let them use rig) If your church is smaller you probably know the kid and know if you can trust him or her
  10. Ever see a picture in an art gallery and think, I really want a bass in this colour! This is like an aged seafoam green with an undercoat of Aztec gold. Maybe. Fender experts may correct on this. Taken at the Tate at St Ives in Cornwall, artist credited in the pic.
  11. Here is a hypothetical situation for church bassists to comment on. Let us say that you are on the rota for a particular week, and on the same week, the Young People Band is playing a single song. The day comes, and it's time for YBP to play their song. They jump up on stage, and the bassist doesn't have a bass with him. His assumption was that it would be supplied - and he is looking at your Wal / 57 P bass / Harley Benton / Skip Rescue. This is news to you - you were not involved in the arrangements. Do you let them use your bass (or guitar, or saxophone, or violin etc)? How does one react? Is the bassist like the 5 virgins who did not prepare the oil for their lamp? Or, having been asked for your coat (Cort?), do you hand over your shirt too? Discuss - extra marks for real-world examples!
  12. I need to learn George Benson - Feel like making love. Quite hard.
  13. A little history of Walter and these great amps.....back in the 1980's I bought one from Walter Woods direct from the USA, they were expensive for the time but... double bass player Rufus Reid was playing one at Ronnie Scotts with the mighty saxophonist Dexter Gordon. I asked during a break what 'that little red box was' that was powering two Bose cabinets, (the ones used in PA systems). It was a WW 100 watt amp. He convinced me, a budding double bass player, to get one. I called Walter to order and asked how he made such a small amplifier and he explained that when the USA government started releasing previously held information from the public, he went to the N.A.S.A. info 'pages' to find out how a space craft could send a coherent voice signal from the moon to Earth and he nabbed the technology for his amps and so made possibly the first digital commercial amplifiers.. Good luck with the sale robbuu, the amp looks to be in great shape.
  14. Make sure it's for the right reasons - not just an opportunity to play music, but a church which lifts, supports and nurtures you. Let us know how it goes
  15. Afternoon charity gig…classic car show in Wisbech at the Five Bells supporting East Anglia Air Ambulance. Cool weather, but a good crowd and the pub staff was excellent. I was really happy with the new cabs…really good even with no PA feed.
  16. It's in as new condition. Can post for an extra £5. Would swap for a rack tuner.
  17. Currently working on Fire by Jimi Hendrix, need to have it ready for rehearsal on Monday evening.
  18. Today
  19. As a drummer who used to frown at a bassist with more than 4 strings but now plays bass in many different contexts, it's interesting to note that the low B appears to be very useful. Not sure why the subject is prone to debate
  20. Oh thanks, but I prefer more... shape we realised we need more stuff from Thomann anyway, like Elixirs for the shortie, so went ahead with that Thomann bag. I also got a spare nut which I can file to rubber string size, so I can have one nut for the regular strings (if I'd go for those RIDICULOUSLY expensive flats at some time in fhe future), and another for the rubber ones. I think the bridge holes might need to be enlarged for those rubbers tho... 😓
