  1. Past hour
  2. I was thinking in terms of relative measurements rather than absolute ones - an inexpensive and easily reproducible means of comparing amps, at distortion levels that those of us that don't like overdriven amps are happy with and at those that those who do like overdriven amps are happy with.
  3. Agree, Ashdowns best cab, loved mine.
  4. I very much doubt EB makes those. They’re probably a standard screw available at a hardware store.
  5. A new one from Don
  6. Furthermore, I totally get the desire to avoid replacing the bridge wire, because it's a PITA. On a Gibson three point bridge (even with an aftermarket replacement), to replace the bridge wire, you need to remove the bridge mounting bush out of the bass to run a new wire then reinsert the mounting bush, which will probably make it looser (as it's purely friction based), so yeah it's a pisser.
  7. I'm fairly sure they're stainless steel. I think they pre-date the nickel option.
  8. Thanks both and what a lovely Ripper! This might offer a solution - it is a very small gap - though as noted, I'd still need to lift the bridge slightly to ensure good contact. I'll drop Bow Finishing a note too to get a view on the hardness of the finish and likelihood of removing a chunk of it.
  9. They're usually ok unless you keep your amp in the garage.
  10. Welcome. And in answer to your question, in-ear buds are fine for bass. For further information, you can spend a couple of days reading the IEM bible thread or just read the first post in it.
  11. I did say "under the bridge" - so what you're saying was implied and I didn't really feel the need to explain how that is achieved. The OP spoke of reassembling the bass, so I presume that they're able to loosen some strings then take off a bridge...
  12. I think I might have sorted it. In the notification preferences where before it said "enable in this browser" after clicking on that and getting a message asking me if I wanted to enable Push Notifications which I rejected, the status has now changed to "Permission was denied in this browser" I still don't have the cookie mentioned in your post, and I'll have to wait until sometime tomorrow at the earliest when someone replies to one of the threads I'm following to see whether or not I get the message asking me if I want to enable Push Notifications.
  13. Welcome Eustace.
  14. As new condition. This was for a planned project that never happened. I unpacked it, had a quick trial and then put it back in the box. £70 collected. If you want it posted, cost will be around a fiver.

  15. Hello I started messing with Guitars at 16 with ideas of the rock n roll stardom. Unfortunately, while I could give Ozzie a game on the “lifestyle”, practice evaded me & I just never progressed. A few years ago, I bought a Bass. A lovely Bass!!! But again, just never had the application, so it sat in it’s case for years. Well I just bought a Boss Katana Go. What a piece of kit! Being able to sit in the living room with the missus while not disturbing whatever tripe is on the telly, playing along to tunes & YouTube lessons……..WOW! I wish this had been available years ago. Now unfortunately, my nice fairly expensive Wired Earbuds went to the charity shop long ago. Question : Are In-Ear buds suitable for Bass, or will it wreck them? Any recommendations? Thanks
  16. That would work, although for a sound connection he would still need to remove or at least loosen the bridge.
  17. Are these stainless steel strings under the coating or nickel?
  18. They're big fellas, two are about the size of a beer can! I suspect they'll be alright for a bit, the ones at BBC Maida Vale are still going and they're older and more heavily used than mine...
  19. Ashdown Evo IV 4x10 bass cab. Ashdowns best cab, the most upto date evo iv. HUGE HUGE sound!! Real deep sound, rich as they come. Head and shoulders above all the Ashdown cabs. So much depth and clarity. It is very well designed, solid and robust and easy to move with both side handles and rear handle and wheels. 8ohm 600w top end cab. A few tiny blemishes, as shown. Pick up Leyland Lancashire
  20. I'm finding my sterling sub 4 running hot and I'm thinking of changing it from series to parallel (like the classic Stingray's). Have any of my fellow low enders done this and if so are there any tips? Thanks
  21. My Jim Deacon shorties were as cheap as chips and they are great, and the construction is more than good enough to warrant pickup and tuner upgrades. I love them! Hopefully one day I'll find the very elusive J version too.
  22. The Classic Sabre reissue was very good - I had one for a couple of years, but they were very expensive. I guess the Stingray just sells more units. Similarly, the twin humbucker version of the Fender Dimension Deluxe/Elite would be an excellent choice here. They were true Stingray killers.
  23. ok, looked into it a bit further on my main basschat machines, which is a windows computer 8:30-5 and a mac with safari the rest of the time, and the one that controls this is 'notificationPushRejected', which in your cookies is ips4_notificationPushRejected. I have it on both the PC and the Mac, which as far as I know has standard settings (and just checked my other mac up here, it has the same cookie and is standard). In the cookie window in safari it shows as: ips4_notificationPushRejected true www.basschat.co.uk / 16/02/2027 11:11:38 which I notice is a year away from when I opened basschat on that machine this morning. Quiting and restarting safari doesn't seem to change it. Yep, looking at the javascript, clicking the close box on the 'stay up to date' box writes the cookie ips4_notificationPushRejected with a timeout of a year + 100 seconds (no idea why the 100 seconds). Everytime there is a notification, the first thing it does is check if that cookie is present, and if so it doesn't put the box up and goes on its merry way. If it isn't present and you haven't actually had that box displayed to you in the current session it puts the box up. It seems like maybe somehow that box is getting dismissed without pressing the close box somehow?
