I know that they're in other bands, presumably as permanent members, whereas with your band, they're temps. Just asking them to be members on a more permanent basis might be a motivator, whether they accept or not.

Used mine on Sunday with the two 1x10 matching cabs that I acquired from @fleabag Outdoors, drums, guitar, vox, keys and, a surprise late addition of a harp player with (loud) amp. Kept up easily and sounded super with my Flea Jazz. All easily packed on the back seat of my 62 year old Morris 1100 which gets to take me to gigs when the weather is nice and the venue is local. Love it. -
Same here - in fact, just reading the subject heading brought it to the forefront of my consciousness. I think I've had it over 30 years - it was when I started wearing earplugs to ride bikes [1] that I suddenly noticed there was a background noise that didn't go away, like the line frequency whistle of a CRT TV which we were all able to ignore. [1] It wasn't the loudness of the bikes, it was the wind noise from the helmet that was (and is) the issue

Sorry, it’s a long thread, but the basis is that they have other bands they are members of. It depends what you describe as permanent… as it stands they get their fair share of any gig proceeds, so they wouldn’t earn more.
-
Assuming that they're as close an approximation to responsible adults as musicians can get, it's really up to them to provide their own motivation. Although they're going to be more motivated to work on permanent bands than temp ones - have you considered asking them to join on a permanent basis?

Water isn't that great a conductor of electricity. Large bags of water with lots of electrolytes in are much better at conducting electricity, and that's what humans are. So we provide a preferential conductivity path for electricity (which is why dropping an electrical appliance into the bath will do unpleasant things to any occupant).

A while back I sold an Origin Cali76 mk2 on here. All going smoothly, dropped off with Royal Mail and paid extra to make sure it was fully covered. Once it got to Gatwick the tracking stopped updating. Days went by with no word and there wasn't anything I could do until a full week had gone by. I logged a complaint and provided a screen shot of the PayPal payment details and the sale DMs in the hope itd constitute sufficient proof. Thankfully a mysterious package arrived at the buyers house with I “sufficient postage” so he had to spend another £7 to receive it. So he got the pedal, RM still had no idea that it had been received but I left it to see what happened. 3 months later I got a letter apologising for any inconvenience and these which it said we're the appropriate compensation: The pedal thankfully arrived so no loss, it does show how much that Royal Mail cover is actually worth in practice when selling on peer to peer marketplaces sites such as this. I'd have been out of pocket £250 along with £15 postage. Very unimpressed.

Something really special - no chops, just beautiful bass playing on a beautiful tune. This is the complete Jay Anderson bass part to the stunning 'Walking By Flashlight' from the 2015 Maria Schneider Orchestra album, 'The Thompson Fields'. I saw this band at Cadogan Hall some years ago and it sticks with me as one of the most exceptional evenings of music that I have ever witnessed. Thanks to my old friend Paul Hornsby for turning my on to this lady's work. It's not hard to play but I challenge anyone to match this performance. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/walking-by-flashlight-maria-schneider/

Thanks for posting! I've loved them since hearing "Type" on the radio in 1990, and a "Stain Tour" gig I went to still ranks among the best I've attended across all genres.

I did ask google "Can you fit a dead body into the boot of a Mazda MX-5" but got no answer. Looks like you can fit about the same amount into the boot as I did onto a Triumph Bonneville a few years ago to go riding round Ireland with Mrs Zero.

I'll be taking at least 3 big old valve monsters (with valve power sections) to the South West Bass Bash and if anyone has an 8x10 they could bring along, we could do a VAV initiation for a small donation.

My lovely old '96 helping the TOH boys out at the studio - heavy and bulky but ever reliable and useful.. ❤️ Beautiful flagship Soundcraft Vi Sounding and feeling great at Tolhuistuin venue in Amsterdam.. Smoky soundcheck in Amsterdam - a truly fantastic venue.. The Slaughter House / Kulturfabrik in Berlin.. A slightly questionable setup and vast amounts of dust at the 'Forever Now' festival in Milton Keynes. It took a few songs but I got there in the end.. And the monsterous 'Summer Sessions' for The Skids in Bellahousten Park, Glasgow. Digico SD12 and a D&B rig with a truly outrageous amount of power..

bassbiscuits started following Markbass STD102HF Italian

Hi all, I’ve owned two of these great Italian-built cabs for the last few years but I only really need one, and selling the other. It was up for sale in March 2025 but I withdrew it after using two cabs as my “big rig” but alas sense has since prevailed… (hence using the old pics). It’s a Markbass Standard 102HF cabinet. It’s a 400w, front-ported 8ohm bass cabinet. I’ve gigged it extensively over the last few years and it’s been 100% trustworthy. Some of the fur is a bit bobbly (where the zips on the Markbass amp head bag has rubbed I suspect) but no rips, tears or anything beyond what you’d expect from a working cab. All works perfectly with no crackles or weird noises. Markbass reckon the serial number makes it a 2006 model. It’s well cared for, comes with a clean, tidy fitted Roqsolid cover, and has been stored in my smoke-free home. Collection from south Leicestershire or nearby is greatly preferred given its size and weight. I travel weekly between Leicester and Derby if that’s any help. I’m looking for £265. Not looking for trades - I need the cash! Some pics of it action too… Any questions drop me a line.

To be clear and fair to the buyer, they wanted me to buy the bass back for £150 when they paid £200. I just wanted the opportunity to make it right before discussing refunding. The builds so far in order; This one has someone coming to see it in the next week or so. And current project; Oil finished and waxed ash body and roasted maple neck. This will possibly have a black control plate but undecided on that or chrome and definitely black tuners and knobs etc.
