  1. Past hour
  2. I have asked the seller a question (about three days ago) and he's not responded...yet.
  3. The bass is now in the Black Friday sale for £99.99!
  4. My mistake? Berk.
  5. I think Santa might stretch to a wireless setup, I'm trying to convince him that I also need a new bass.....😂
  6. Some time back in the 1980s, I owned a Fender P. I replaced the pickup with Di Marzios because that was the thing to do back then, but TBH never noticed any great change in the sound. The original pickup went into a drawer and stayed there for around 40 years, quietly maturing. It's about time I did something with it, so it's off to the marketplace. The two components have date stamps from different years, so I suspect that before I got the P it had one replaced. They both have the same resistance and they seemed fine when they were in the bass. This is something that I'm perfectly happy to post at no extra cost.
  7. Agree on both counts. Both bands clearly have something but whatever it is it’s lost on me
  8. Rang Jon today - he's got the board off and he's sending me photos of various pieces of macassar ebony in the next day or two.
  9. Almost on the home straight now.
  10. There are bands that I find incredibly frustrating. They seem like really cool people that I’d happily have a pint with, and they are obviously incredibly talented. The only two that have sprung into my currently addled mind, are Behemoth and the Foo Fighters. I really enjoy Foo Fighters music videos, but the music… other than Monkey Wrench. Blah! Another band is Radiohead. I like the song creep but I can’t stand anything else they’ve done. Again, they had quite cool videos, so I would watch them, but on mute.
  11. I've got one of these (albeit in a different colour) with flats on that I use for playing reggae and retro vibe stuff and it's a great bass. I wouldn't part with it. Regarding adjusting the neck, I took the neck off mine and adjusted it once just after I bought it nine and a half years ago and it hasn't needed adjusting at all since, and I'm very exacting about neck relief.
  12. I have one too, I really like it,
  13. this still available?
  14. Little Feat - Texas Rose Cafe
  15. Truly magnificent and rare in this finish!
  16. In my view the green is the better colour (I owned one and it is a decent Bass), I guess most other people think the same so shops can sell the green ones for for more £.
  17. Not knowing much about him I just listened to Everyday Is Like Sunday, it’s not bad really , maybe a bit like Oasis where just a few songs is enough for me
  18. Back in the day he was just an intellectual snob. He then moved up to being a bitter man about how the record label never did enough for him, then screwed over his band mates involving court battles, then released some truly dire records that didn’t sell for which he blamed the UK public, then got all BNP and a bit racist, then moved to the USA where he made an astronomical amount of money. I gave up on him when he was still bitter and twisted despite being wealthy beyond most peoples expectations and living in Clark Gables old house! Most of this information was gathered from his nicely written, but thoroughly irritating autobiography which should have been called: ’the world gave me the moon on a stick but it wasn’t bright enough’
  19. Presumably whoever is selling it on Gumtree would know.
  20. Given the links between John Diggins and John Birch, I'd say Jaydee are the people to go to regarding John Birch pickups etc. I remember seeing a new Jim Lea bass at Jaydee back in 2010 or so, another branch of what they made along with the Iommi SG, Angus Young model also. When I think of Jaydee I tend to associate them with the Mark King bass but there's a lot of John Birch previous history before the Supernatural basses.
  21. Could be that they restocked greens and blacks at different times, and the wholesale cost had changed in the meantime.
  22. Today
  23. Bump
  24. This is my cue to unfollow this thread. Have fun with it guys and girls 👍
  25. While I appreciate the GH auction wasn't mentioned the auction itself was in early 2024, so anyone questioning the accuracy of the listing and authenticity of the bass itself could easily (easily!) have done a search off google and found the GH listing within a few minutes, tops.
  26. I phoned G4M ,and they noticed the difference in price but they said that unfortunately they can’t reduce it and is £749. No problem with the service ,and the chap I spoke to did look to see etc. I told him I’ll wait and see if the price does go down . No biggie worse things in life .
  27. I'm still in! I haven't been on here for a good while. I think the two may be linked...
