Have 2 sets of pretty much brand new Rotosound RS66LD Swing Bass strings. I fitted these to my basses a couple of weeks ago but just could not get on with the feel/tension so I've gone back to my trusted EB Slinky's. They're both cut for a Precision/Jazz and have seen about an hour max of use on each set. Looking for £25 posted for the pair or £13.50 posted for a set. Any questions please let me know.

Been looking at one of these for a couple years now. Then this one tuned up for good price, soon found out why. New to bass so looking forward to getting started.

Very nice, the tapes sound great too

Down in the Tube Station at Midnight - The Jam (again)

That is tempting, but do I need another project to sit there looking at me and do I need another The Jack to go with the one I acquired one a couple of years ago for £100 and had to spend an extra £10 on a couple of parts. The shop I bought it from thought the electrics were faulty, but it turned out the LED on these tends to fade with time and otherwise it was OK.

I want to make a 2-unit wooden sleeve rack
obbm replied to bass_dinger's topic in General Discussion
I second this approach. Rack panels are 19-inches wide so the opening width is always 19-inches plus a bit. Coversely the opening height is always multiple units of 1.75-inches and the panels/units should be less a tolerance to allow them to fit. I used to have a data sheet giving the recommended dimensions but I can't seem to find it right now. You should be able to find them through Google. -

Great looking bass - reminds me a little of my old Westone Thunder I 😎👍

I've always thought he must be slapping with a finger rather than thumb and pulling with his thumb. Otherwise i cant get my head round how he does it. An incredible player. Loved it when he played with Gino Vannelli especially Brother to Brother album and even coached / helped Sandin Wilson who took over bass duties with Vannelli. Again another fantastic bassist. Dave

I wholeheartedly agree. There's nothing about AI that interests me in the slightest, especially regarding art. It's a complete oxymoron.

I’d back this 100%. I’m pretty new to this, buying my first upright from @Happy Jack in October. I’ve thrown myself in and I’m loving every minute. Couple of gigs done and some recording. great fun but apart from “note geography” it’s not like playing electric. Jonny

Martin Owen, from Owen Electronics, was my guy... he repaired a few pedals for me back in 2017-2018. After a quick search, looks like his website no longer exists... His business email was: [email protected] Not very helpful, but I will follow this thread as I will also need pedals looked at down the line and without Martin, I am not sure who to go to either.

Going Underground - The Jam

Well I'm no way as handy (or patient) as you @The Guitar Weasel your restoration has been really impressive to read!

Forgot to mention that the general rule of thumb with the Meatbox, and other variants like the Mantis Density Hulk, has always been to max out the controls and let the pedal do its magic via the PA. Mantis even released the version with the EQ knobs inside the casing as users tend to run the thing maxed out anyways. Beware, you can fry a speaker and even a power amp section if you are not careful! There is so much low end content that amps struggle, hence the PA + Subs approach.

All I can say as regarding the sound it an absolute funk machine. I have totally been blown away with it. I have a few stingrays but this bass just sounds a little different in a good way though.
-
Ultimately, you need to make it your interpretation, rather than a slavish copy of PP’s line. One of my fave tunes to play is I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down (that pesky Pino again), there are some things that I just can’t do smoothly (the outro for instance), so it has to be an ez version. Vultures is another sneaky tune from that Mayer album.

Wow, that’s quite a beauty, can I ask how they sound

Here we have a red PJB Double Four with a proper earthed psu. It took a bash at some point - you can see the roll bars did their job but they’re both bent, one more than the other. It’s probably easy enough to straighten them but I’d prefer to sell with the damage fully visible. Still rock solid. Also the clip light doesn’t work. Otherwise all working as it should and amazing bass tones out of such a small box. Hopefully I’ve priced it fairly to reflect the condition. Meet-up in London/Margate ideal, but can hunt for a box and price shipping.

Two mighty fine basses on the loggia settee: Serek Midwestern and Wilcock Mullarkey.

Great way to describe him ez 😁 and yes, it’s the timing that keeps catching me out, I kinda jumped straight in but I think I need to listen to it a lot more first, thanks 🙏

Your best bet is to take some pictures and post them in the EUB and Double Bass Forum. That's where people who might be able to advise you are likely to be found.
