I don’t use the covers on my P and jazz basses, but my AVRI 62P came with the bridge cover fitted so I left it on, all my the screws go in a small sealable bag and stored in the hard cases, same with the thumb/finger rests and screws

I'll have to try that with my '95 Stingray's mutes.

Glad I’m not the only one. For some reason I tend to play more softly when I do this which probably gives me better tone. I’ve got more dynamic range which helps to build songs and you get a real lift when you dig in.

No, it isn't the same. Fixed mutes don't kill the harmonics in the same way. You can aldo combine finger/palm muting with fixed mutes and get a really wide range of sounds.

The newest version of Markbass' flagship Mini CMD 121 combo, the V (with all functions eg DI on top). Bought new last year, never left house (as all gigs with my [now ex] goth band used the venue back line) and I have since decided to go the way of separates (again, I know....). It's worth too much to gather dust. New prices are typically between £749-830 and it comes with the official padded cover (cost me another £60). Altogether this would be over £800 new .. and its virtually indistinguishable from new (I took the horrid sticker off!) I have no appropriate shipping box at the moment so its collection only from a public space (not my house) in SW13 (Barnes, south of permanently closed Hammersmith Bridge). Specs here: https://www.markbass.it/product/mini-cmd-121-p-v/

It looks really flexible. MB products are super versatile and you should be able to get pretty much whatever you need. The master volume on these Class D amps doesn't really add much colour, not compared to "older tech". So, it's really about shaping your tone with the pre-amp section. My starting point would be: 0. Set the master at a tolerable level for where you are. 1. Set the gain so that clipping light comes on only when you're hitting the strings really hard, it shouldn't light when playing normally. 2. Set everything flat. 3. Get to know that sound. That's your reference. 4. Engage that scoop control and see if that gets you an approximation of what you want. 5. Then add and subtract the other EQ one at a time in large "chunks", returning to flat each time so that you get to know how they affect the tone. Once you've got a feel for what each does you can dial in smaller increments either way until you get near where you want to be. When you get a sound you like, take a photo of the knobs. Use that as a reference. Take notes. Keep iterating. There's 1000 tones in there that you'll love but keep tweaking methodically and you'll find a couple that will be stand out favourites.

Question: Filling pocket screw holes on maple neck

Personally, I'd re-drill the holes and plug them with glue/dowels, level these (sharp chisel to rough, then sandpaper), and then redrill new holes.
