Rodders started following Embarrassing rookie errors…. and My roadmap for the Affinity!
-
As @itu says start with the cheapest options first i.e. checking set up, amp settings, strings etc and see if that has any improvement on the sound.
-
I had an Ibanez GWB35 (the matt black one). I stripped off the dull as ditchwater, black finish and the basswood underneath, whilst not flamed or otherwise, was pleasing in its plainness, I liked it. Sonically (if these things ever make a noticeable difference [opens can of worms]) it was absolutely fine and the weight was great and not just for a 5 string. I kind of miss that bass.

I've wired up my pedalboard the wrong way round at gigs more than once and panicked when there was no sound.. Tried to tune a G up to a C once when I wanted a Wooten tenor bass..

Yamaha Trb mk1 slapcut model with a’dario Es 170 xl high tension strings, and it’s not even a 34 scale, just under.. I’ve lots of high end basses and the only thing comparable are my Wals. But then again…. How long’s a piece of string… good luck with your quest! X

Talking of Bartolini Mk1's, reminded me of the Cort A6 I bought many years ago when I'd decided I'd gotten as much as I could out of a 4 string (which was obviously not the case). The combo of the Mk1's, the active preamp and the realisation that I really didn't have a use for 6 strings long term meant I sold it after a year..

I had both briefly. The JT definitely covers some sounds but due to scale length and pickup type/positions does sound different. Would both be beneficial ? Not in my opinion if just about tones - the JT can do similar sounds but obviously has a very different feel. If you want a shorter than 37" scale for 'easier' reaches then yes, it could be useful. n.b. I kept the SP1

SteveXFR started following Fender Precision Standard MIM

2006 Fender Precision standard MIM in chrome red. All original except 3 string tree to solve the A string noise issue and a Fender high mass bridge. Its in great condition and plays & sounds great. It'll come with the original white pick guard as well as this black one. Also keen for a swap. I just fancy a change really.

Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK
-
That didn't work. Have given up and had to replace the whole pre-amp with the Artec SE-3. Hopfully that's allowed.
-
This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers

Aye... Playing anything complicated or difficult shouldn't be allowed! Just because they're using a musical instrument to produce sound doesn't mean it's music, it's just about inflating their own ego. They should just stick to straightforward and easy tunes, so for keyboards, no harder than Chopsticks, and for bass players, stick to the root and throw in the occasional fifth if you really must. I blame that Paganini and Liszt.

I've just seen this over on 'VI Control' (Link below). There is an $99 free voucher code and also a 20% Off voucher code for use at 'SoundMorph'. I have just tried the codes and the offer is still working. https://vi-control.net/community/threads/free-99-coupon-code-for-soundmorph-website.165846/ They have a lot of interesting stuff up on sale so it is worthwhile having a look around using the tabs/drop down menus at the top of the page. I grabbed myself 'WaveWarp 2.1' for free using the $99 voucher and a couple of Sound Design packs using the 20% off voucher. SoundMorph Website

I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.
