Sire V5R passive 4 string jazz - £250 Belter jazz bass, these sound massive and play like a dream with roasted maple neck, excellent fret work and rolled edges out the box. Bought new from Andertons. Tried to take images of small dings the bass has, hard to accurately photo but they're nothing major and don't affect playability. Happy to deliver within reason or meet in the middle 👍 would rather not ship but give me a shout to discuss.

Basically, yes. Though I'm more a free stroke kinda guy, relying on the left hand for muting

Musicmaster Bass Bridge replacement options
ped replied to basshead56's topic in Repairs and Technical
I ended up getting the Albridge linked in the first post as they messaged back and said they had one ready to send. The Halon guy is away from today for a few weeks so even though I’m not in a rush I went for the Albridge which worked out about the same price. -
Sales tax varies by state, some states have none. None of them are anywhere near our 25% VAT. There is no US-wide sales tax. "The five states with the highest average combined state and local sales tax rates are Louisiana (9.56 percent), Tennessee (9.55 percent), Arkansas (9.45 percent), Washington (9.38 percent), and Alabama (9.29 percent)." - from https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/state/2024-sales-taxes/

Ooooh I have been looking at some Charvels online recently, mainly for that headstock! That and they seem like cool basses. Is the Charvel headstock much different? It looks the same in photos and AFAIK they were made in the same factory no?

Musicmaster Bass Bridge replacement options
NHM replied to basshead56's topic in Repairs and Technical
I got mine about ten years ago from WD Music when they had a branch in the UK. If you look on their US site, or the Hosco site, there is a Wilkinson bridge where the saddles looks about the same. -
Oh good, that's what I was going to say here if I hadn't already via email. Glad that was it!

A little game - Can you tell which Jazz bass is which?
HeadlessBassist replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in Bass Guitars
You've got me wondering now... I'd say "Mr.Grey's" is marginally heavier, but there's not a lot in it. It has an Okoume body as opposed to the Flea's Alder. Apart from that, the only real difference is the roasted maple neck vs the slab rosewood neck. Given a moment tomorrow, I might record the same passage on the 2019 American Original and see how that comes out in comparison. -
Excellent condition Squier CV mustang bass with Thomastik Infeld Low tension flats and fender short scale gigbag - £275 This bass was purchased from PMT back in April 2024 and the bass, gigbag and strings were over £450 and has barely been played. In excellent condition as is the gigbag. Genuinely one of the best feeling necks I've had (better than my sandberg cali II in honesty), I'm just not as into short scale basses and there's other stuff I want... happy to meet or drop off locally but not keen on shipping basses, give me a shout to discuss if shipping is a must 🙂

Thanks, so you guys are switching between rest strokes and free strokes depending on the line then?

Ooh! I got it right 😲 Just as well as a Flea Bass owner, I prefer the less 'lively' sound for my purposes. -

Is no. 2 the Flea? It sounds darker. -
Thanks for the replies both - Yes I got it sorted, I changed the tube and turns out this was the issue 🙂 Yes, you did reply to me Nathan, you advised to swap the tube and kindly offered a warranty repair on anything other than this which was very much appreciated and fortunately not needed 🙂

The Jackson headstock always looked a bit compact to me. I used to own a Charvel bass (probably before you were born 😆) - THAT'S a headstock!
-
As long as you get some good quality tone dust to replace it with, it's not a problem.
