  1. Past hour
  2. Cheap basses always have cheap pickups and electrics. It's where they cut corners. I have an inexpensive jazz bass which sounds OK in the right circumstances. Putting in Barts, Nordstrands etc would cost more than the bass, and resale value would be through the floor. My solution, which got me half way there was a Sadowsky preamp. On a good day, I can almost imagine I'm playing my Sadowsky Jazz. So get the best preamp you can find.
  3. Road Runner Deluxe LEFT HANDED POLYFOAM Hard shell electric guitar case. Nice decent condition.
  4. Bought this few years ago to put on a Roland GK hex pickup hence the two screw holes either side of the bridge. I also managed to knock one of the tuners and dislodge the elephant ear. I spent a few months looking for the right tuner to replace it, when I found a guy on Facebook MP selling the neck (including tuners) for next to nothing. I modded it a little but for fun - it has a daft (and very easy to remove) competition stripe sticker. It came with Jazz bass style knobs (which I have somewhere and will include) which I replaced with some push on black metal jobs I would say the pickups sound really good on this and they have a good hot output. NOTE: the 2nd neck has one broken tuner (the E string one), you can just see it in the pics. I now have another bass which has the GK pickup so this is now up for grabs. Cheap as chips, might be good for a beginner or a modder - fretted and fretless? Collection only at he moment, demos welcome here in London N21, although its in desperate need of a new set of strings!
  5. I’m going to invoke the law of diminishing returns 🤣
  6. Shout At The Devil - Mötley Crüe
  7. Not used the NU-X but there are other options with similar specs for less money in the budget power supply space. I have one of these and it's been great. They also do a 5, 10 and 12 port supply. https://www.andertons.co.uk/tone-city-8-output-isolated-pedal-power-supply/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20730020346&gbraid=0AAAAADujoUoSLvVhWiQwoeDRzPOnFxbip&gclid=CjwKCAjwobnGBhBNEiwAu2mpFJ1bodTgzPIWgNTCBLmMQCFSL2hYAbIK9Pfnp9n4-8aFB9QIXKriURoCkxQQAvD_BwE
  8. … these give a great tone on the vintage setting folks. GLWTS.
  9. Some 10 years ago I was suddenly hit by the the most debilitating Trace Elliot GAS brought on by my yearning for Trace gear as a teenager. I bought a 2x15 Trace cab, a GP12SMX pre amp and a Trace Power amp. To pair with this monumental rig, I came across this cab which was (according to my old Trace brochures) the perfect companion for the 2x15 as it featured two 5" inch drivers from the bright boxes! It was fun for about 10 minutes until I had to hire a transit van and some very muscular people to lift it into venues for me. I sold all the other bits ages ago, but couldn't let this go for some reason? Now I've finally come to my senses a decided to part with it. Full disclosure when I originally bought it, both the voice coils had gone on the 10" drivers. After some discussion with some incredibly helpful people at Celestion I was advised just to replace both the 10's with modern equivalents: Celestion BL10-200S 16ohm 200watt 10" bass drivers. needless to say it sounds excellent if not better than it started? Note - my old Trace brochures are not included in the sale, nor is the ELF! they are just there for the porn of it. Collection/demo from me here in North London N21 I'll even give you a hand to the car as its a weighty beast.
  10. Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK

    NU-X Zeus Jr.

Hi, any user experiences? Looks like a good spec. https://www.gear4music.com/G4M/NUX-Zeus-Jr-Pedal-Power-Supply/75ZY?origin=product-ads&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22290702940&gclid=CjwKCAjwobnGBhBNEiwAu2mpFAsZAFK9t2VpX2v8Lg5mKRNMczzC20-mhqJLh_LXC6z9XeVEfonW6hoCkB0QAvD_BwE
  12. In your face-sparkle! I love it!
  13. Nice one, have to admit I had my eyes on these when gigging, look to really fit the bill
  14. As per the pics, good old heavy duty flight case from the 90's. Really need the space at the moment so free to anyone who can collect it from me here in London N21 - Just off the A10
  15. MXR M80 Bass DI+ in fantastic condition with original box and 3 Dunlop rubber button do-dars. It sounds great and has a very useful switchable distortion channel. It can also be phantom powered 👌🏻
  16. Even with the image at full size, it is hard to make out the letters on your logo. All I get is "guitars" - just about. A larger logo would serve you well. I understand the desire to show as much of that wonderful grain as you can but there must be a better balance between the two.
  17. Space is at a premuim here so off goes another larger item. I bought this new a few years ago when I was supplying the PA for a lot of function gigs (That said it only went out with me a handfull of times as I had a pair of Yamaha DXR 15" as tops). It performed admirably and provide the well needed thump to the band. Its now probably been at least 18 months since I've used it so time to move it on. GOOD: Its in good, but obviously used condition. Its loud - we only ever needed one sub with the fella going. It works great with a pair of ALTO tops to make a compete PA. It comes with the ALTO branded soft cover too. BAD: It is seriously heavy - I've moved it on my own several times, but its much easier with two of you! price is fairly firm, but try me! Collection only please from North London - N21. Happy to demo before you take it, I'll even give you a hand to the car! I'll include the "No Drinks" sign for free and maybe even the wheel board if I'm feeling generous on the day?
  18. Ah great that you were at the album launch! I was wondering if anyone from here might have been there last night. You’ll have to let me know next time you come to a show; always nice to meet other bass players on TDC gigs!
  19. That's really good to hear, thanks for sharing. The Thomann own brand stuff usually punches well above its price point, just look at the praise that Harley Benton basses get. I've got a suspicion that the dsp and dsx range from 'the box pro' are probably as good as some of the offerings from qsc and rcf but I've never chanced the £250 to find out. I do love my Thomann Mix Six though!
  20. Actually there is still quite a bit left beyond Newbury. Typical northerner 😄
  21. Perfect deal with Joel, who bought a Micromark amp from me and confirmed himself as a top person. Thank you 🙏🏼

  23. Hokay, so to stave off the pangs of GAS (tho I'm struggling to find what I'm after (a really lightweight (<7lb) P)), and after giving my ancient gigbag a sniff (no sniggering, it's not an euphemism in any way), I decided to replace it. It's been used for more than 15 years at every gig now, and is showing the strain (as well as the stains) of a hard life. I found this on t'th'internet, and even though they're not cheap (£119 delivered), first impressions are very good. Here's a pic before I go any further: Not mine in the pic, obv - the giveaway to that is the mic; I have the dulcet tones of a donkey with a twisted ankle, and am completely at peace with that these days. Anyhoo, it's a joy if, like me, you happen to enjoy things being where they're supposed to be and having their own place. The two main storage areas have Velcro partitions (three at the top, six at the bottom) to customise the space, as well as two capacious side pockets, and there's a well-padded back pocket for a laptop/tablet. It sits upright, too, which is handy for packing/unpacking. It's actually smaller than my old backpack (a Wenger one), but I've got everything I use in there, including half a dozen cables, my Stomp, my Just In Case BDI21 (which is more totem than item, seeing as I've never had to use it - I think its mere presence makes other things keep working), power supplies, a 4-gang power extension, tools, batteries, strings, inears, wireless, etc, etc, and there's still room for more. It's a bit like a Tardis with shoulder straps... Build quality and padding is excellent, it'll be getting its first run out tonight, but I'm sure it'll make things easier. As mentioned, it isn't cheap, but I figured the last gigbag did hundreds of gigs over 15 years, so it's an investment.
  24. Hi. Here you go (from the Gator site)... Length 12.50" Width 19.00" Height 9.00" Cheers!
  25. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
